My gf says the same thing. "Why can't you just control yourself?" I'm like "there's a 4 pack of chocolate mousse with cream and a packet of pop tarts... I can't control that!" Her response is "Just don't eat it"... sigh, this girl has the ability to buy junk when she's shopping and not eat it all on the first day. I was born without this ability. She actually has junk food that goes out of date if I don't remind her it's there.

I had a pretty bad binge eating disorder. I was on about 1500 calories a day (i'm a girl; but 5 10 and athletic) and constantly hungry, then once a week or so I'd bing on about 3000 calories and feel horrific. The best advice I can offer is to NEVER get super hungry - fill yourself up on 'good' foods (low calorie dense) as much as possible. Also, NEVER limit food. I can eat whatever I want - I just mostly eat healthily and then once in a while I'll have junk food I crave! As long as you factor it into an overall caloric deficit then MEH don't worry about it!! Finally - if I can do it you can do it

I’m female. 5’9’ and workout regularly. 1500 calories is my rock bottom for calories. I generally lose weight eating in the 1700-1800 range. 2000- 2100 for maintaining my weight. You probably binge because you’re not eating enough.

Hard but not impossible, try cooking food for yourself and if you see packets of junk lying around toss it in the bin, you may call it disrespectful but I did it. If you're concerned for their health try to educate them on the subject, if they listen well and good if not just do it for yourself.

@@oddeven327 yes but not realistic if Nathan is a kid. My parents would have had my head if I did that. Also kids don’t have the freedom to cook whatever you want. Nathan is you are a kid or a teen living with an unhealthy family you are going to do your very best to not eat a lot of the unhealthy foods. I know it is so hard. I feel for you. I can say though if you can manage to get a hold on controlling yourself around the unhealthy food you will do so well when you’re older m. Keep trying you can do it!!!! Look at all the unhealthy food and think about how bad it is for you and it will suddenly not look as good. I used to binge on crackers and pasta and now I don’t have nearly the taste for it. It’s like it tastes powdery to me and I don’t feel good eating it. It works give it time. It’s easy to lose weight when you don’t have the bad food around but it’s definitely not when you’re surrounded by it I hear ya

Removing binge foods is #1 priority. I emotionally ate my way to morbid obesity. Took me 10 months to drop 90lbs and to a healthy BF%. I told my family, don't leave cake, candy, pastries lying around the house. If you want them, keep them in your room in your dresser. They didn't listen, so I got frustrated and started throwing all the junk into the garbage. Sounds disrespectful, but I told them if they left it out I would eat it, and they didn't care, so the trash it was. No one binge eats oatmeal, or Quinwa, you don't want to. You don't binge on baked chicken breast, brussel sprouts, broccoli. Remove that shit and you've won 90% of the war already.

Yeah mate, I've been working on this for two years. I'm finally in a position where I can walk into a corner store and not HAVE to buy hot chips and hot dogs and lasagna and pies. Aw man it was so bad, but I'm so much more happy that I have finally got it under control. I used binge every day, but now its happens about once a month and is far less severe, I eat way less when I do. Been getting a lot of great information from your videos bro. Cheers man!

I think keeping the food out of the house would help a lot of people but when I dealt with a binge eating/bulimic disorder it actually made it worse. I viewed anything I couldn't keep in the house as something bad for me (which was anything not on my diet). So if an apple wasn't on my diet plan, it was consider bad and I wouldn't have anything like it in the house. When I decided to binge, I would make several trips to the grocery store/fast food/ANYWHERE I COULD GET FOOD, bring it home, binge, throw up, and then I would poof it back out of the house again. I overcame my disorders by learning how to have those foods in my house. That they weren't unavoidable and I had to learn the self control to manage myself whether those foods where in my house or not. I love Greg and his videos. He knows way more than me. I'm just speaking from personally experience and what helped me. Speaking out also helps to remind me of what I need to do so I don't allow myself to fall back into that mentality again.

I feel so relieved right know. I‘ve been employing these tactics for years, to keep weightgain at bay, but I always had that nagging feeling, I was ‚cheating‘, because I wasn’t relying on self discipline and practicing ‚intuitive eating‘ and all that. I just can’t, if there are sweets or other tempting foods around, my diet will derail every single time, even if I eat at maintenance. Bonus Tip for people, who can’t just ban everything tempting from the house: Put stuff, you shouldn’t eat in a cupboard with a lock. A time-lock, if it’s just you, so you can lock it after dinner (or whenever you get cravings, typically), a regular lock, if other household members need access. Boom, done. No more cheating.

Thank you Greg 🙏 You make us laugh 🤣 and you educate us. I lost 30 pounds a few years ago, got down to 21% BF and I was pretty happy. Eventually, I came back to 27% where I am now because of the binging disorder I developed along my previous weight loss journey. Recently I started gym 6 days a week, forming the habit, feeling pretty good, energized and enjoying my workouts. Now I'm educating myself on how to control the food intake. Again, I will use your advice and thank you :)
