It was so interesting even watching it as a non-competitor!! I think a lot of this can be applied after a cutting in everyday life as well. My favorite part was “the real diet starts when the show (or in my case, when the weightloss) is over” very eye-opening! Love all your videos Coach, new and old ones as well❤️You’re amazing!!

I know this is an older video of yours, but I really needed to see it. I'm down about 100 pounds and have been pretty damn good on my diet for nine months ... until this week. For three days, I was basically a vacuum cleaner and ate everything in sight. Put on 20 pounds in 72 hours. This morning I just put all the shit food in the trash and took it out to the curb. I could be upset, but hey, I'm still down 80 pounds total, right?! Anyway, back to my diet.

Good for you. How has it been going lately? Keeping it off? I'm down 73lbs and hoping to keep it off.
@garrettbaratheon5672 жыл бұрын
Good news for ppl that see this is there’s no way you put on more than several lbs of pure fat. Some math for you: Even if you ate 10K calories each day, that’s 30K over 3 days, subtract 6K for your BMR, and given that 3.5K is a lb of pure fat, 24K/3.5K = just under 7 lbs of pure body fat It’s mostly water and undigested food when the scale is up that much

This video was exactly what I needed right now. I’m on my 3rd day of binging after my first comp, and dreaded the scale. Weighed myself before bed and I’m up to 156. Stage weight was 141. The week before stage I was 148. So based on what you’ve said I’ve put on 8lbs, but im gonna cut some carbs, get back on my cardio tomorrow and drop some lbs! I don’t wanna let this get out of hand!
@Da-Creams Жыл бұрын
Did the binging stop? I've been struggling for a year after getting really lean way too fast.
@stephanieingham5745 Жыл бұрын
@@Da-Creams The binging has slowed down for sure, it is still happening maybe 2-3x a month now. However, I have put on weight post-show, almost to my starting weight due to struggling with being okay with food. I am working on my relationship with food right now. If I have a binge, I don't punish myself the next day by doing lots of cardio at the gym and weightlifting. I'll instead go for a long walk the following day, and focus on getting some steps (maybe some sun), and drinking more water, and eating better. The following day I will go to the gym as usual. It's already started to create less of a cycle of binging, then restricting because I feel guilt/shame, and doing the same thing all over again. Also focusing on how I feel the next day after the gym or directly after. Often times I feel terrible or my stomach hurts. So reminding myself that I can have anything I want to eat, but I don't enjoy the feeling afterwards of going ahead with the binge. Instead have a little bit of the thing I want and put it away out of sight. If I am really struggling to put it down, I'll brush my teeth or get out of the house. Go for a quick 10 minute walk or whatever works for you, until the binge brain passes.

Ah greg ! I literally just stumbled accross your channel, i know this is 5 months post you putting this up but i still felt compelled to comment. Im currently almost 3 weeks post show, as a natty female i cant relate to All of this. However i have found myself standing in the cupboard eating all the food i wasn't able to during prep. Also buying food when out. And of course am now looking for some guidance. I really like your advice, to pull back, eat the foods you were before and enjoy a meal a day of 'not on the plan' food. It sure as hell sounds way more enjoyable than eating mindlessly to the point of feeling sick.in my case i haven't actually binged to the point of pain or full on sickness (but very full) and retaining alot of water and freaking out that ive stacked a whole lot of fat on in 3 weeks of over indulging. I also have a photoshoot in a week so need to tighten back up. (Youd think that in itself would have stopped me) Going into my next show im going to follow your advice. Its sane and i like it! You got a follow from me mate 👍😊

Hey greg, you may disagree with this but I feel the biggest reason folks rebound isn't necessarily drinking water, but rather the mechanism of action of most diuretics. Most Rx diuretics deplete sodium. What does water follow? Sodium. So the combination of extreme reintroduction of sodium combined with the drinking of water and ingestion of alot of carbs is the problem, mostly stemming from the sodium. Dr. Scott Stevenson talked about drying out without depleting sodium in the process and I found it to be very insightful.
@gregdoucette5 жыл бұрын
ForceRecon112 its a bit of everything. Mot just diuretics jot just sodium not just carbs. Its everything combined for aure yes. I have not rebounded once since I started using diuretics before the show. Before using diuretics I did rebound. The diff for me was not eating to much after.

Thank you for bringing up the fact that eating disorders have such a large stigma attached to them. Nobody wants to talk about it. I wish it wasn't that way. Maybe if people were more open to talk about it I never would have developed one. I was super into fitness and body building growing up and then I developed a severe eating disorder & nearly died several times. I still want to compete but I'm so afraid that it's gonna trigger a severe relapse because every time I start dying excessively that's when I run into a serious problem

Did 24 weeks of a fat loss protocol, dropping around 1.5-2 lbs per week. Body was in full rebellion by the end of it and was cheating more and more, so I decided to just stop and level out. Week 1, I binged, week 2 I binged, week 3 I binged a little less and by week 4 I'm normalizing eating quantities. I put on around 12 lbs and definitely puffed up, but I mostly avoided junk food focusing on better quality goods (most of the time)

But what's the point of cutting so much, if it will end up inevitably in a binge later? It's what we call yo-yoing, or in other words, eating disorder. Maybe it's not even worth it to be as shredded as possible, if it always carries a high risk of yo-yo eating afterwards? Heck, it's better to be just moderately lean, happy, always satiated, and simply toned rather than extremely lean/shredded but obsessed with food and on the verge of losing all control and binge eating. I go to the gym for life. And I find it naturally very easy to stay at 22-23% body fat as a female. If I go down to just 19%, I am less happy, less energetic, and occasionally binge-eating....But If I stay just 21-23% body fat (while lifting heavy weights) and intuitively and mindfully eating whole foods, I end up NEVER binging on any food (not even occasional junk food when I go out with people). I can literally eat ice cream or pizza and EASILY STOP when I am satisfied. I never overeat to the point of pain in my stomach.... And again if I go any leaner (down to 18% body fat ), I always end up binge-eating so much that my stomach hurts. So, maybe it's not even natural for me.... Maybe my body has its default set point at exactly 22-23% and keeps me happy at that state. Anyway, I am 38 years old and my face is naturally skinny. When I lose any weight, my face turns to a skull and looks 20 years older. So, why would I strive for a perfectly skinny stomach with abs, if I would sacrifice a decent face for that and my well-being as well? It was cool in my twenties and teens to be that lean because I had baby fat in my face then. But now it's not the same. Besides, most people look at my face and not my stomach when they talk to me....Moreover, with all the muscles I have, I still look leaner and better at the beach than most average 20 year old females any way.

I gained about 15 lbs in a week of eating whatever I want (basically til my stomach hurt every day) my abs are almost gone and I just am so disappointed in myself. I feel like I never appreciated my shredded state- I just threw it away in a few days. I’m back on a diet now day 1 and already feeling better

@Zanabery2 жыл бұрын
@@kennywright88 it’s going much better- I feel a regained sense of control and moderation. My goal is to get back within 5 lbs of my stage weight but I might have to adjust that a bit because I’m finding that goal very challenging. My weight is now within 10 lbs of my stage weight and I seem to be eating right around maintenance calories. It’s frustrating because I gained a visible amount of fat around my midsection but because it was right after my show and it was so sudden, there wasn’t much muscle mass gain along with it. I essentially just undid months of hard work in a single week. I still look “good” but still frustrating.

I'd say it's really important to make sure your electrolytes are in proper balance. You are absolutely right when you were talking about post show binge eating and mast of waiting and water retention it's extremely dangerous and you're veteran into heart attack territory So I would say going to the doctor or hospital immediately is exactly what needs to happen. I developed refeeding syndrome & it's so dangerous. You need IN fluid & electrolytes & to be monitored until levels are normal again

I was finding that type of video and knowing that you could have already talked about it. Just done a show and 5days after I gained 10pounds. It’s hilarious how sensitive your body can be after a show when you starved yourself to be stage ready. I felt anormal, constipated, blood pressure high, but my girlfriend didn’t really understand what I was talking about when suffering of food abuse at the end of the day 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️. But after a time my instinct told me to go keto, and I started to eat more dry fruits with some water and porridge all day long. Now I feel good but still have some kinda gas in my belly 🤦🏾♂️. Can’t do it anymore. STAY DISCIPLINED AFTER A SHOW IS HARD

I'm just a few days out from my show and I have had a bit of water retention. I've been keeping my water intake high and still doing some cardio to help negate the effects and get my body back to normal again after using OTC diuretics during peak week. I was using herbs and Diurex. Do I need to wean myself off of those or should I just stop and let my body repair itself?

@aestheticmuscles23855 жыл бұрын
Sugars such as dextrose and maltodextrin vs pure glucose such as Karbolyn, rice, potato, bread. Pure glucose replenishes muscle glycogen and sugars replenish liver glycogen. This is why they also get fat since the liver in adults can hold about 100g of carbs where muscles can hold more glucose since there is more muscles also once glucose gets inside a muscle it becomes reserved for that specific muscle and muscles dont have a pathway process to release glucose like the liver can.
@gregdoucette5 жыл бұрын
Aesthetic Muscles Your overthinking it. A calorie surplus no mater if its glycogen in the liver or muscle or from sugar or fat or protein is going to cause fat gain. Dont think by eating a certain way u can get away with eating too much. Eat too much calories u get fat.
