Lying here with a spine injury I'm so happy you posted today! I really enjoy the cinematic intro, the preparation , the hard work, somehow even the coffee making :-) I will never go fishing , but always find watching you fish very "educative" . Thank you and wishing you , bo and bandit and your viewers, a relaxed transition into the new year

I feel your pain! I had spine surgery almost 2 months ago and am looking at another! Hang in there. It's a long, bumpy road. Until we heal up, we can live vicariously through this lovely couple, learn a few new skills, and be more productive when we're back on our feet. Stay positive and keep your hands busy. I've found that to be helpful.

Please don't say "never". My late partner enjoyed many, many sea fishing trips (on boats and landbased) despite sustaining a permanent C4/5 spinal injury as a twenty year old. 53 years post injury of working full-time, traveling in our housebus, socializing, raising my children , fostering many more. And fishing. Did I mention fishing? He was good at it ... and a local recently commented, after hearing of his passing, that the fish were now safe! There are quite a few folks out there who are more than willing to make the effort to get those with physical challenges out there and doing it. Of course, his journey was not all beer and skittles...but he was brave and adventurous, and life owed him nothing. All the very, very best.

The lack of color when it’s cloudy is what grabs my attention. It’s so black and grey and white. Now when it’s sunny I’ve noticed there is a lot of blues. So Bob Ross was accurate when he added a bit of blue to his snow. 🙂

So fun story I like to share about my wife. First I grew up in Idaho trouncing around the hills all through my youth. I met my wife when I was in the military. She is from the suburbs of Maryland. The suburbs there are pretty much city the are has so many people. For our honeymoon I decided to take her backpacking. We packed in about 20 miles to a very remote lake and spent two weeks there. We had to drive about 4 hours to get to the place we were going backpacking so we ended up getting there in the later part of the day then started hiking in. I had map, compass, all that and it started getting dark before we got to where I wanted to make the first camp. So I break out the Coleman lantern, get it lit and we keep hiking. She's got the light because she was a bit freaked out by the woods at night although she was doing her best to put on a good front. So, I'm leading the way with her behind me with the lantern. About 10 minutes later I hear a scream, then a small crashing sound....and it's suddenly pitch black. Of course bugs are attracted to the light and apparently one had flown towards the light and touched her hand. She screams and drops the lantern, actually she sort of flung the lantern away. Wasn't a big deal as I had a flashlight and always have extra mantles but it's a story we remember and laugh about. That was a long time ago as we'll have been married 31 years at the end of this month. We're now retired on 60 acres, in the woods of northern Idaho. She does gardening, canning, soap making, etc. That city girl changed quite a bit. Another funny exploit from that trip as I'm old enough and retired so now can share it. I was never one to smoke pot, probably have smoked it 4 or 5 times in my life (I'm now 58). I got out of the military just before we got married so we decided to take a little pot in with us. We got fishing licenses as we were going in to a remote lake and I planned on fish being a good part of our food while there. Well, we found out when we came back out and I talked to a ranger that the lake we went to has zero fish in it (acid rain or something...). Se we get back in there, weren't eating a lot of food to begin with as there are no fish in the lake and everything we're eating we packed in...then we got stoned. Not kidding, we hiked 20 miles back out to the car because neither of us could stop thinking about the bag of Oreo's we'd left in it.

as someone who has camped and adventured for 40+ years I can appreciate your pain with the Coleman lantern. learned long ago to always keep 2 extra sets of mantles stashed with it. It never fails that the old ones fall apart while setting up camp, but also manage to damage one while lighting up at night in freezing conditions. shaky hand syndrome. If you like trout skin crispy as I do, leave the tail on. My favorite part! Merry Christmas, you two. ❤️

It was fun to see our favorite public use cabin. Especially the drone footage! We figure you probably read our journal entries. Fun!

Those lantern 'socks' are called 'mantels' and they are made of ash, so they are extremely delicate. You should always bring a new set with you on your trips. Depend on them not surviving an hours-long snowmobile ride. Beautiful panoramic scenery in the video. It's a pleasant 68ºF here in NE Florida on Christmas Eve afternoon. Y'all can keep that -20ºF weather.

Eric and Arielle…just started watching recently and absolutely love every minute! Gotta ask…are you concerned with bear encounters while out on your camping trips? Or even at home?

there is a autumn video where there was a bear in the area. They were very mindful and checked traces, also used field glasses to keep an eye on the area.On the other hand, they usually carry weapons in the wild, as far as i have seen.

It’s a long trip and with the dogs getting so old they don’t want to put them through it.

Probably a longer trip that requires more prep. This is clearly a vacation trip so just let them enjoy the more than deserved rest, ey?

The dogs cannot take the trip in the sled. Too hard for them.
