It's also more fun to train Jiu jitsu in this way rather than just doing the same things all the time. I enjoy doing research, studying and then implementing structured programs for development of new skills because it keeps me mentally engaged. The whole reason I got into Jiu jitsu in the first place was because I enjoyed the research aspect of the work of being a full time Jiu jitsu practitioner.

Yup...having a nuanced conversation about the usefulness of "pops" as indicators of actual joint damage is something an academic would do.
@robertdeglejj7125
@robertdeglejj7125 4 ай бұрын
Hm, fair enough. I'm not a physio and would never claim to be. I just notice a lot of people in Jiu jitsu using the term 'pop' in what appears to me to be a very casual way. It doesnt strike me as very scientific but of course if actual working academics in that field use it as a tool of measurement Im probably wrong.
@g8eo3

My point is that this podcast episode felt like a graduate-level seminar of jiu jitsu, and that topic seemed exemplary of that. It was a cool change up from other episodes. It also gave me a lot to think about and digest.
