I’m from the very Deep South. We were always taught that plants do t get sowed until Good Friday. In fact, our schools were always closed then, in the whole family can help set the fields. Also,,,, now we CAN wear white too! (Until Labor Day!) I love your Easter Dress, can’t wait to see it on you! I love to serge if the fabric frays or if I’m not sure of the fit (easier to adjust when needed) Have a fabulous week! 👍🏻🤠🌵😎👸🙋🏼♀️👩🏼💻🐰💐🙏

It just depends on the project, the fabric and how I’m feeling whether I serge or do French seams on my material. If it’s really fancy and expensive material like wool sometimes I will use a “Hong Kong” finish. Glad you are trying the pattern again. And always POCKETS!

Hello, hello, hello! Love that welcome so much by you! So happy you're making that dress again and I love your fabric! Beautiful Easter dress you made! Yes the darts give a flattering touch and no one has to be skinny Minnie to get that. YAY! I just kept (cut) my side seams fuller since I'm smaller in my arms and shoulders but bigger in bust, stomach, and hips. Works out great for me and sure hope it does for you! I can't wait to make that dress like you are doing. Thank you so much Stephanie for FRIDAY SEWS! I do serg my seams as I go when I'm making things. It's a lot of going back and forth to machines but it's okay. 😋 I'm looking forward to seeing your new dress!

It is traditional to plant on Good Friday. However I have seen snow on Peach blossoms in April. So on Good Friday that is about 8 days past our last frost date. I look at the 10-day forecast and see how many days in the next 10 that we are are above 50 degrees at night. I can remember as a child my grandparents and parents use the almanac and would plant according to signs. But I'll go along with a good Friday and the 10-day forecast. Looking forward to the linen dress I couldn't stand it if the fabric didn't breathe no matter how pretty it was. Happy Resurrection!

In Colorado, I believe you're safe after Mother's Day. Usually. Unless you're in the mountains. 😆 We will gladly take your excess rain - save some for us!! Your Tory Burch print is amazing! It reminds me of an Easter dress my mother made and wore one Easter around 1970. Pella, Iowa has (or used to) a Tulip Festival every year, I imagine with their history, they likely still have some farms around. Have a wonderful Easter!

Hi Lynn, I think your right, no hurry to plant. It feels like we live in the mountains, but it’s not really, more foothills with forest. And yes, we were pretty desperate for this rain too! Hope it’s coming your way. It’s not enough, but oh so welcome! Thanks for stopping by! 🥰🥰🥰

I live in the South and I hear the rule is "plant after tax day, which is April 15; this year it happens to fall on Good Friday. Love tulips. Both dresses you are making now look beautiful. I think the other one isn't quite the right color. As for seam finishes, I like to serge most of mine, but really like the look of French seams too. Some day, I'll try the Hong Kong finish. Wishing you and your family a 'Happy Resurrection Day'. Due to health reasons, I still can't go where there are a lot of people indoors, so I'm thankful to be able to watch church online. Not the same thing, but better than nothing. I have made the princess line dress some years ago. I loved it. However, I have since learned about lowering the curve to match the apex point to get a better fit. I have fullness above my breast which I'm not happy about. I've also lost weight and so it is a bit big. I am reluctant to give it away as I love the fabric. Not sure if I can salvage it though. I will make another one.

Ok in the south it is said you can plant after the mesquite trees bloom. Seems to work for us here in texas we live in a lower river valley and it freezes here where 15 miles down the road it doesn’t. You can see how their mesquites are full of greenery and ours are barely blooming.

I love your intro...it is different from the others and not the gestures of some that are a gimmick...A thought on your dress...instead of the darts why not use tucks to give the bodice shaping and you still have the fullness your need. just fold over the dart allowance and sew into the seam without going into the skirt of the dress....ok...I grew up on a farm and we planted by the moon...meaning... plants that produce above ground planted at the first new moon after Good Friday...plants that produce like potatoes, carrots...can be planted before the first new moon. Hoping you have a Happy Easter.
