This program seems to be very useful for making realistic movements, but what about unrealistic movements? Imagine if this program could emulate things like squash and stretch, smears or exaggeration.

That could be just a simple case of just allowing the spring movement to stretch and scale the bones (not sure if that's possible yet in cascadeur though)

Your request doesn't make sense. Do you also ride a motorcycle and get annoyed that it doesn't have four wheels? This is a Physics Based Animation software (PBA). It was made to solely make hyperrealitic human movements. If you want to make cartoon animations, then go into literally any other software that has ever been concived by humans as those are what are currently being used for cartoon animations.

no, it's not the end, it's the start. But don't overhype it. I work at a games studio and my senior animator said it's a good tool for juniors for quicker posing, but experienced animators will get done what you did and keyeing in basically the same amount of time. there are many crucial things about animation that it doesn't do for you, such as extremes or proper timing.

The thing I understand that most animators really dont enjoy is the recursiveness of making good looking animation. This tool seems to essentially remove all of that extra work which is wonderful because that means more artists can focus more time on making something look interesting rather than on little small but necessary details. I'd use it for things where either my skills or mocap recordings are lacking to achieve a certain effect or to quickly add realistic secondary motion faster than keyframing it. @@farce2734 Sure, although I started in 2001 so my path won't be relevant to you. There was no KZbin full of tutorials. I owned a copy of 3DS Max and bought a couple of books on 3D animation which were pretty bad and wrong. I did one year of a 3 year 2D animation diploma. I'm basically self taught. These days I'd recommend getting Blender and following along with a bunch of tutorials, starting small, plus you should buy The Animator's Survival Kit and Disney's Illusion Of Life. These will teach you how to really animate, rather than just making something move like a lot of tutorials will do. It's about timing and spacing and so much more. But yeah just start small and eventually you'll figure it out. Everything you do will look like crap but you'll think it's the greatest thing ever so don' t take negative criticism to heart, it's a long journey to get good. I consider myself okayish at best. I don't think it's the end of animation, but it's a nifty, different way of doing things. Traditional animation gives you far more control over the results. This gives you some lovely offsets/followthrough with minimal effort. It certainly raises the bar for "non animators" doing animation! Can't say I'm keen on the entire rig moving when you move something, but I assume that's something you can turn off. It's definitly cool.

this kind of tool is incredible for indie game developers who want to make more realistic-looking animations quicker; i'm decent at posing, timing and novice animation and whatnot, but a single person producing mostly-realistic animations when their focus is on an entire game is impractical, to say the least obviously, just using the base animations this spits out misses the point; it's an extra tool for people to use, not something that will REPLACE animators. i think that's the main point that people are missing with this kinda thing; it's not REPLACING anything, it's just assisting, like how programming AI co-pilots work. they're meant to assist a programmer in the creation of a script, and speed up the process

It's simple but way too many variables are moving to have proper pose to pose motion, you kinda have to move everything but everything is moving and if you lock it it'll have a chance of doing a unwanted bend. It's cool to play around with but not very practical unless your on a time strain and want something fast... not easy though, I also hope you can change the hot-keys so that it made more since and be much more practical to use. Can't wait until there is an animation software that can easily loop an animation with physics.

But I think the free version can only support 300 frames per export

More than enough for indie animators etc. I would say. I can't think of a scene that goes over 300 frames without a single camera change, that would need this animation help. Just switch the camera/scenes/some transition, and you have the next animation

Can we stop with the clickbait titles and go back to journalistic integrity please? CGmatter knows it's not the end of animation, the viewers know it's not, everyone knows it's not. It's an amazing tool that will possibly end a ton of grunt work in the animation industry, and possibly trim a few jobs down, but there's too much needed in terms of custom animation that needs to be owned by whatever company commissions it for their IP. Even the amount of manual tweaking needed by a human to make Cascadeur work shows it's far from automated - it just lends a professional eye in terms of correctly weighted movements and automates that small aspect of animation.

I haven't had any luck with this program, it's a bit buggy with the models I've tried and I've mostly given up

Can you make a video showing us how to import a model object with a motion capture animation file for example from Mixamo and apply AutoPhysics to the animation and do a compare and contrast before and after AutoPhysics?
