Agreed! Also I love the healthy moments of disagreeing. Hopefully that doesn't make me sound weird. It can be difficult to have "fair fights/disagreements" but it's such a key component of successful relationships. I know their disagreements are sometimes minor things but it's refreshing to see nonetheless.

Hi! I work in a vet clinic in BC, and there’s a diet available to feed to your cats that reduces the allergens they produce so that humans with allergies react less (unless your allergies are asthma based, I believe). It’s called Live Clear, it’s whitefish based, and available through most local clinics! It might be worth looking into for Ben if you haven’t seen it/tried it before. If you have, sorry for the unsolicited advice!

i agree with Cristine on the death one. If we know how we will try to avoid that thing the most (even if we knew it can't change the outcome) and live in constant fear. this won't help in anyway. but with knowing the time we can plan ahead also live freely until then at least.

I’d rather know how just because in a twisted way I want to confirm if I was right. As a kid I always had dreams where I either drowned in dreams or died in a plane crash. If I die of either of those I’ll be content knowing my child self could predict the future. ☺️

I'd rather not know either one but if I had to choose I'd pick when. Imagine your How is "dies of a heart defect in their sleep". You'd never rest easy again always wondering if you'll wake up in the morning 😱 Having said that, counting down the days seems almost as terrifying but at least you can plan your life around it.

I don't see death as a terrible thing (not that I see it as a good thing, either), and I would love to know when I would die so I could plan out my life until then. Like imagine knowing you would die at 18; you'd probably not put the same amount of effort into school/work than if you knew you would die at 80.

@@ava_lavender your comment reminded me of a girl who was born with a terminal disease (cystic fibrosis) and a life expectancy of 10 years. She grew up knowing she could die at any time and that it was certain she wouldn’t live to adulthood. She talked openly about death and what it was like for her and her family, to prepare and expect her own death. Through it all she retained her vibrant, positive personality and was incredibly insightful, introspective, funny and brave. Claire Wineland died aged 21, in 2018. She has a KZbin channel (Claire Wineland) that’s still up, I highly recommend it! She also did at least one Ted talk that I know of. This question about which would you rather know got me thinking about her, her thoughts on this matter are so illuminating, please check her out! She has a beautiful message and you won’t regret it

About Ben's allergies, there is cat food available by the brand purina pro plan that is supposed to lower the amount of allergens that your cats produce, resulting in less symptoms. It's called Liveclear. I haven't tried it myself, because I'm not allergic to cats (luckily), but maybe it's worth a shot to see if it helps for Ben.

I would ABSOLUTELY want to know when I'll die! Because obviously I'm operating under the assumption that I'll live a full life and die of old age at like 85, but what if I'll actually die at 43? If I knew I'd die at 43 I would live my life MUCH differently! I'd make sure to get to have the experiences I want before my time runs out, I wouldn't have to plan for retirement so I'd be able to spend money more frivolously, etc. I want to know how much time I have so I can make the most of it.

You have to try steel cut oats made in a rice cooker (the fancy kind that has a porridge setting). They still take a while, but its hands off (bonus: if you get an expensive rice cooker, you can load it up before bed and program it to start automatically in the morning). They come out sooo deliciously creamy in a way that I think can't be achieved on the stovetop. It's really a major upgrade to instant.

I found out a couple years ago that I have a handful of skin allergies and the issue I run into most is that literally all of them can have dozens of different names so it’s very very hard to make sure the products I use don’t include that product. Also, the things I’m allergic too are in EVERYTHING. Luckily, my reactions aren’t too extreme (bad hand eczema usually) but goddamn it’s annoying as hell. The products that are “safe” for my skin are 1. Hard to find 2. Very expensive and 3. I don’t feel like they do the job well!! I remember Cristine once telling about the hair products she has to use now and they just don’t do my hair any favors!

I stopped watching/listening for a while because I had so much going on in my life. I’m living together with my boyfriend for almost a 1 year now and we started watching simply videos together and then I showed him the podcast and I always love your dynamic!! You seem so genuine and healthy like real happy people. Such a good human relationship hahah You both are so funny and I love your way of communication. I totally understand now “only” having your partner on your side and spending so much time with them because I feel the same way with my partner 💓 enjoyed this episode so much :) thank you!

Oh goodness. I didn’t plan on piping in but here we go I’m on the “Work a difficult but rewarding job VS. low effort low stress job with no enrichment.” All of the jobs I’ve had that are physically demanding, upbeat, busy, and stressful, have all been jobs that paid me a very low to medium hourly wage. I was codependent at the time so I didn’t need to make enough money to be dependent. I LOVED working in those jobs where I was challenged, constantly on my feet, always giving customer service and being an asset to an entire establishment made me feel damn important. Fast forward to growing out of the pay rate and wanting to find a better job. I spent 6 months in a high stress but work from home AP position. I quit. I found a job as an administrative assistant - for $4/hr more than any hourly rate I’ve ever made in my life. I thought I’d be pushed and mentally stimulated but instead I’m just someone to delegate tasks to and when there’s nothing to do, I spend 9 hours at my desk doing JACK SHIT. And it’s DRAINING. And I loathe the fact that I must stay in this boring fucking job just because it pays really well and offers good work/life balance. I miss my customer service jobs so much. I miss being busy. I miss being demanded from. I miss it so much. But I can’t go back because it’s not financially sustainable for me right now. If I could, I would.

I’d pick “only watching the first episode.” Because then I can kind of daydream about where the show could go. But if I just saw the last episode of a series, it wouldn’t mean anything to me without a backstory or context. I’d be like…”ok?”

I got this allergy liquid to put on my cats coat once a week and it's the only thing that has helped my husband's allergies. I got it on Amazon, you rub it on their coat. I think it could maybe help Ben?

I went through allergy patch testing too and found out I was highly allergic to a preservative called methylisothiazolinone. We had to switch from a lot of household products that contained it and I’m talking soap, hair care, detergent, cleaning products, makeup, perfumes, candles. I had to quit playing volleyball because the wax on the floors would make my throat close up half way through practice. Thankfully I’m in good health now but boy was that a set back.

I know this is ridiculously late to leave a comment but marriage isn’t for everyone and I love your guys relationship. My mom and stepdad were together for way longer than most married people in my family, almost 19 years, without being married. The only reason the relationship ended was because my mom passed away… but marriage doesn’t make a relationship ‘real’ and I appreciate your take on it…

this episode was super interesting and fun to watch. I would definitely explore the ocean by the way. I love the sea and the ocean... as haunting as it may seem to get to the very depth of it... That'd be fun... and who knows, there could be traces of ancient civilizations, prehistoric relics, forgotten treasures, or scary creatures that nobody has ever seen. I read somewhere that humans know more about space than the ocean a long time ago, so acquiring that knowledge through experience seems amazing to me. This is a choice I'd make if it was totally safe to do it, but not really since my claustrophobia could get the best of me... lol
