I love how they recreated the look of the classic cel animation from the prime seasons of the Simpsons and perhaps they also used the older model sheets to animate the new scenes? Edit: Yes I know it’s done digitally, there’s no way they would actually go full-on cel animation. What I meant was if they used the older model sheets as reference for animating these scenes instead of the modern ones.

Unfortunately, no. This is still done in the computer keyframe animation that they currently use, they just tried a few techniques to make it look like the old art style.

I'm glad they did the best with what they had, but it still wouldn't kill them to create it in at least digital ink and paint (since they can't use traditional cel for obvious reasons), then it would look more accurate. (I mean, they managed to mimic the Tracy Ullman animation style by using that technique)

They did it quite a few times. Can’t remember the episode, but an adult Bart time traveled to the first episode, and while he was as smooth as modern Simpsons, everyone in the past was grainy like it was an old episode.

I agree with others in that this award is bittersweet. While is nice that they are honoring James L. Brooks, it's also insulting to call him a "Disney" legend. All Disney did was acquire Fox where he worked. Now they want to take credit for his accomplishments by putting him under the "Disney Legends" umbrella when he never technically worked for Disney. He's definitely a legend, but not a Disney owned legend.
