Worker and parasite are working at the vhs factory. They decide to take their lunch break and go get in line. But they forgot to turn off the machine and the tape unravels while unattended. Soon the entire factory is full of jumbled up tape. Worker shouts "Endut! Hoch hech!" Which I would translate, but It would be flagged as inappropriate. Still one of the best cartoons ever.

I have known Soviet animation for quite a long time, and still cannot guess which cartoon is parodied in this short. It is not even a parody of the propaganda reels; people queuing for fish and “industrial” background with hammer and sickle are the only references to the drawbacks of the central planning (“Gosplan”). Soviet animation (up to mid-1970s) is gorgeous; just look how beautifully drawn all characters were (at the same time when the West had entered the “Dark Age of Animation” with cost-efficient limited art style), so this cannot be the parody of Soviet animation. P.S. Bilingual bonus: the top line at the opening title frame features a swear word for, well, “male genitalia”.

It IS a parody of Soviet animation, but not the great ones. Cartoons were made with love and quality. I'm sure this film parodies stupid 5-minute cartoons made by various local city studios with no effort. For every great piece of Soviet animation comes a hundred of effortless, soulless cartoons. And I'm more than sure that Worker and Parasite is a parody of Gene Deitch's Tom and Jerry

I thought the point is that this is supposed to be a capitalist society, with Worker being exploited and abused by Parasite (his boss), an exploitation that makes everyone who isn’t a Parasite miserable.

It's funny cause there actually is an Eastern European equivalent to Tom and Jerry. It's called Nu Pogodi! Here's a link to one of their cartoons: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZjMon-jr6ieZsk
