Love this! There are certainly some brands that are just full of chemicals and things that bunnys shouldn't be eating, yet they say for rabbits? Like it could kill the rabbit? It's so stupid.

I really don't know why some manufacturers make things with dairy, seeds or egg for a rabbit when they are not supposed to have them and shops shouldn't sell them
@hollie14172 жыл бұрын
For real! Pet shops always sell rubbish, chemical filled treats, its best to buy from small pets select, oxbow, or just give them tiny amounts of fresh fruit or vegetables as a treat!

It’s because some manufacturers couldn’t care less about the health of the pet. As long as there’s a cash flow they are fine. I personally think hutches are amazing for temporary situations, like allowing them to have a safe area to play in outside during the day when it's warm, or like in my case during extreme construction inside, so they don't get as stressed. I don't agree with them being permanent for a rabbit, but temporary it's a great item. Like an outside play pen :)

Rabbit huts and cages are amazing, not as 24 hour cages, but places for them to explore and hide out in. More enrichment, we should promote that as a bunny community
@meganturnbullx Жыл бұрын
I think the worry with buying hutches and cages is that you often give money to companies that are advertising them as permanent enclosures... I'm not about to judge people for that cos its really difficult to find ethical suppliers of small animal stuff but if you can avoid it that's always a bonus... recycling secondhand hutches, building your own, or buying from ethical online shops that advertise cages as accessories (not permananent houses) are all good ways to avoid this problem. I 100% agree that hutches and cages can be wonderful tools but I get why a lot of influencers feel iffy about promoting them in case they're used for the wrong reasons (permanant confinement), as this is unfortunately very common.

My parents have bought a large 2m hutch for my bunny and we are going to be keeping it indoors. Everyday while my precious bun is under my supervision she will roam around the living room for like 2-3 hours and if she doesn’t smell to much my parents may consider a playpen. The hutch is super large and double story.

Hutches can be really expensive and people advertise them as perm homes which they are not I would just not advertise them at all but if you get one and use it right by having it always open its fine. Also most hutches are too small to be inside It's just too much if an inconvenience in my opinion

Our hutch is a necessity here. My rabbit originally lived in her hutch 24/7 in a basement with no natural light. When we adopted her, she upgraded to a huge x pen area attached to her hutch. Her hutch is her safe place and she loves it. Another benefit is that we used to keep her litter box, hay and water bowl in there which centralized cleanup. We no longer do that, but she still sleeps in the hidey part of her hutch every day. She‘ll use other hides and tunnels, but her hutch is by far her favorite.

I got a rabbit in 8th grade. i'm currently 19 and in college. My rabbit looked identical to yours and her name was Hazel. Whilst I did do research at 13... I still wasn't completely educated and in 2015/2016 there wasn't as many resources to turn to. She was in my room in a playpen. I never gave her greens... (she did have a hidey, 24/7 hay, and most essentials.) She never free roomed except when I let her in my parents room or outside in a playpen. I groomed her regularly. I put her upside down a lot because an (very uneducated) breeder said they liked it. Now I know it caused her little body so much stress. Going into my freshman year, I was struggling to care for her. She kept having diarrhea, but was acting completely normal and had no issues. I decided somehow the care I was giving her wasn't enough and gave her up to a rabbit rescue. To this day I don't know where she is but I'm beyond guilty for the care she did not receive properly. It makes me so upset that I didn't research more and realize how much care they actually need. I'm planning to get another rabbit in 4 years when I'm out of college and have a permanent place. I know know all the essentials they need, but I still feel so guilty about Hazel when I was 13. Thank you for this channel and important information! I wish I found this at 13.

This is my first rabbit. She's a Cashmere Lop. Last week was her 2nd Vet visit and they were very surprise how healthy she is. She just had her 3rd birthday, she is 7.0 lb., very healthy. She is not spade or shots. She doesn't need them. She's a house rabbit and when she starts her training to be a Certified Animal then we will have shots. Even the Vet said so. I give her kale in morning, Salad without spinach (which she does not like), white and red cabbage (sparingly), a very thin peace of carrot, and some broccoli (sparingly). For a treat at 9:30 pm she gets some pineapple & papaya or fresh small piece of banana. I do feed her Timothy pellets and hay. I cannot us a pee pad as she chews them. But she is healthy and I adore her. She plays with my little dog a lot and they are best friends. Thank you for sharing everything with me. G. Timm

I use quite a few blankets and a bed tbh. None of my buns really use them to lounge about or anything like that, but my Rex girl has the characteristic problems with thin fur on her feet not offering any protection, and she prefers to sit on them whenever she eats her veggies or drinks. they are soft so I suppose they are comfortable for her. I've also used the blankets to soften areas with too small amounts of space for anything else. So for that I guess they have actually been rather useful I'd say. They also like to burrow around in the blankets, especially my girl, she can sit there for hours pushing them around.

I have a really hard time getting my bunny to drink enough water. When I give him his leafy veggies I spray them with water right before I give them to him. A special needs bunny is a lot of work, but as far as I am concerned, he is my baby. I love to have somebunny that needs me. My children are grown and I was really lonely before I rescued him. He was born with a splayed leg in the back and short twisted feet in the front. I have to wash his poor little butt every day because his spine won't let him turn enough to do it himself. He hates getting his butt washed. After butt washing I have to wrap him in a towel even though only his butt is damp. Then he wants me to carry him like a baby and walk around so that he can look around for things to get into. The vet says that he seems to be a happy, healthy bunny and that he isn't having any pain. I hope that he will be able to have a long happy life. Taking care of him makes me feel better. I'm sorry for the long comment. I am special needs too and my bunny is the only one I have to talk to.

Not that we made lots of mistakes, because we have had many bunnies before the previous two and they lived a lot longer, but just improvements we can still make

I was expecting a treat dispenser ball to be on the list. I put a few pellets in my bun's and its super fun watching him push the ball around trying to get them out.

Personally, I'd move the animal carrier to "Add To Cart". You won't use it often, but if you don't already have one from when you first brought your rabbit home, you will absolutely need one for trips to the vet.

I agree. I have a walk in carrier for my bunny it's a bit like a holdall. I put it on the floor unzipped and she goes in it and hides/plays which I think is good as then she is not scarred of it when she has to go in it for trips to the vet for her injections etc

Hi! With the hutch situation… what about an outdoor room? Quite roomy & large. It has proper flooring & bedding. Heaps of enrichment. Actual walls & roofs. And a built in hidey house. Just an idea for those who can’t have their rabbits free roaming!

Nice. My bunny just sits in the bed for a bit and then starts "digging" at it and throwing it 😂

11:31 i have guinea pigs as well as one rabbit (dont worry they are seperately housed) and i often buy these for my pigs cause they love them but ive given the ones that have more loose bits of paper / dry grass on the inside to my rabbit, cuddles, and he absolutely loves eating the little strings of paper, but otherwise nothing else. for toys, unless its like mineral or something definitely not good for your rabbit, toys always depending on your rabbit. cuddles's favourite toys are a simple plastic cup and those ball-in-a-cage thingys! he loves toys that make noise.

You are definitely a California guy! The ways you describe things, express yourself, and how fast talk. Please don't take that as anything offensive i lived in California for a short while... you're cute when you talk.😘 (Don't let my KZbin user name fool you)

My two bunnies do love my snuffle rug but I had to remove it as they both keep thinking its a nice soft spot to pee on 😳. They love small blankets too, they play & binky on them but then later pee on it so have to let them have a little fun digging the blanket around then put it away. Also the ikea doll bed, omg my bunnies love that & whenever Gizmo gets a lil scared or feels the need to hide he runs under the bed & peeks out to see when safe. I use cardboard alot for them to chew they love their bus & house. I dry my own fruit treats ie banana, papaya's, apples. Chewbacca loves his meadow loops but Gizmo goes silly for Smoochies will run up & kiss my face everytime for one of those. Keep the good content coming, I always enjoy your videos. 🐰

Thank you for the advice. I'll definitely take notes! I want to get a bunny someday and name them after a singer that I love.

I bought a snuffle mat for my rabbit a couple days ago. It keeps her from eating supper fast and having to forage. But she has been starting to tear out the yarn type things. Any suggestions? Btw love the vid! ❤️
@annweston23262 жыл бұрын
my bunny does that (pull the yarn type things) probably because she can still smell food and treats on it. I take it away if she keeps doing it as I am worried she might swallow the material.

Your channel is exactly how I want to raise a rabbit. I've been in contact with a ethical Holland Lop rabbit breeder. Im not sure if I'll be able to adopt one in August. But I really want a free roaming rabbit with a hay/vegetable/fruit diet by the time it's 12 months old. I also live close to a nice park. So I would like to take them for walks to play and do foraging games. Im just worried about the predators.
