I think Maria Shriver was a little biased & not very objective. Her mother was born a Kennedy ~ a staunch Irish Catholic family that embraced the church. Sinead probably picked up on that (In my opinion).

Maria shriver… what kind of questions were those? Even for the times? They were hyper aggressive; has Sinead sitting down on the floor in a hippie style interview and she pulls out the unwed mother card? What about the unwed father? Honestly I don’t know how artists agree to these interviews half the time. I certainly wouldn’t be. It’s probably why Sinead was saying freedom was eluding her; she was forced by promoters on tour to have to sit opposite conservatives firing negative connotations. Maria Shrivers underhanded passive aggressive assumptions were astounding. No open questions; instead closed statements .

You said it great in the intro, dude. It's definitely sad. Not unexpected, but there is never full preparing for anybody's loss until it actually happens. As you say: we've been watching her since "Lion & The Cobra". I don't think I ever even bought any of her albums, I think it was always my girlfriends who had that album, and I worked in a record store when the next one came out. Was watching SNL AND the Dylan tribute. I always had thought that statement would have meant more in Ireland (and if she had quoted Bob Dylan instead of Marley at the Dylan tribute!) but I never thought bad of her about it. Quite the opposite! That's what rock & roll is supposed to be! And when we finally got to see her performance of "I Believe In You"......wow. Getting misty eyed just thinking about it. Thanks for posting this (and the other interview).

It shocked our parents and we applauded her. I'm a few yrs younger than her, I think she helped us all to rebel, religion was breathing here back then
@kimh5566 Жыл бұрын
I get what you're saying. But, she blurted out Marley's 'War' at the Dylan tribute because she spontaneously decided to deliver the same song/message from SNL that the crowd was booing. It's the mate to the tearing of the photo. It was another brilliant statement of course. I wish she could have settled enough to deliver 'I Believe In You' as scheduled so it could have been part of the official show releases. But, the SNL thing and Dylan tribute were only days apart in high profile NYC. It was a lot of hub bub, energy and crowd to contain for someone so young. No one should have booed. It's always in poor taste. Dylan himself had to admonish his audiences in the 60s when he went electric. Ironically, he said, "I don't believe you" when they booed and called him Judas.

Too right her revenge for her pain was her gift, she also said music was her treatment when she had none from her past. I honestly think she's now one of the most interesting artists out there, her video of nothing compares looks like the most "cry for help" video ever in recorded history. With her it was like watching a movie more than just listening to music, throughout her activism and music all she was doing was looking for closure from her past and to help save others lives from experiencing what she did, it was as though her past trauma granted her this unstoppable anger of power she had to release. She raised herself up so well under those circumstances as people usually blame the parents but luckily she's one of those people who doesn't lower herself to others level. You can tell she's been a rebel and troubled soul from the start, because she did the biggest comeback from her past like when her mom said she was nothing repeatedly a lot, she would then put power and emphasis hitting huge notes on the word NOTHING in that song nothing compares, most of her emotion you can see was on that one word. It kinda gives you shivers to think about. She kind of reminds me of Lisbeth from the girl with the dragon tattoo, not as savage as her since Sineads soul is more gentle but both very intelligent and all about justice and both treated terribly and both very misunderstood and hauntingly beautiful characters if I had to compare her to a movie character it would be her

I believe she just wanted to be the individual. Not to be known but be known at the same same , however ti be herself. Not what anyone excepted her to be. I think she was standing up for her rights . And she was expressing herself, sometimes her thoughts, her ways and maybe what she's gone through. I believe that's what she done through her music. And then did interviews and things on social media. I believe we had all theses thoughts , feelings and things going on in your head . I think this show and told within her life. I believe that maybe, she could not always cope with it all. Wether I am right or wrong , who knows.

Sorry to say but..... this was a kind of inane questioning and Maria Shriver was no match for Sinead's maverick response to life and living as it relates to her and her circumstance. Trying to cookie cuter her into some mould was totally lost on Shriver. Sinead was authentically true to herself, the rest is irrelevant.
