She went on to do a Dylan song in a completely respectful way. The booing started & wouldn't abate so she cut to 'War' because she knew it was the SNL anti-Pope thing that had caused the booing. The crowd were gathered to celebrate 30 years of ex-iconoclast Dylan's career & just couldn't, wouldn't or plain daren't see the irony in their smug, baby-boomer, complacent 'admiration' for Dylan & their rejection of O'Connor's brave & justified stance on sexual abuse in the RCC. They wanted sentimentalised entertainment (like Eric Clapton mucking up the words on 'My Back Pages'). Thank God this daughter was beyond their command.
