Naturally over time, we become protective of our country from any bullshit that comes our way, and treasure our way of life even more. Just as an FYI, the snake that dropped in front of her is a Paradise Tree Snake (Chrysopelea paradisi), or the Flying Tree Snake. Aptly named because of their ability to flatten their body and glide from tree to tree to chase down their prey, of which one of the main targets are Draco lizards (aka gliding lizards), which also, well, glide to escape most predators. They're not at all harmful to humans (unless you are allergic to bee stings) and will rarely bite unless handled excessively. Their main mode of defense is to make themselves look larger than they really are or to simply keep still and hope that a predator (or yourself) moves along.

Far from home - she’s feeling a little homesick 8. No fresh produce (imported) - she’s referring to agriculture & livestock farming. Local supplies (fresh) are limited that Singapore has to heavily import them or lab grown 9. Bad hair - (back to point 1. Hot and humid) Humidity leads to bad hair day. For example; higher levels of moisture in the air will lead to frizzing and kinking in your hair 10. Snakes - she’s basically saying it’s common to see “reptiles” wondering around over the other groups (humidity). Unfortunately, snakes come into the picture due to her pervious bad encountered. Excellent job displaying the hyper-sensitivity and defensiveness "some people" are talking about. It is funny how you have issues understanding what she meant. Yes, both Sg and the US have pros and cons. But people choose to live in a particular place because they compare the *specific* pros and cons of both countries to form a balanced decision. For eg, if one of the cons in Singapore is being expensive, while the one for the US is racism, then some people will choose to live in Singapore because they consider racism a bigger problem than being expensive. Or they feel they can handle the high cost of living more than the racism. I am surprised this even needs to be explained. You never seen snakes before? Good job hiding in the urban jungle then. 😂

i would not say food would be top for Singapore. there's a variety but quality is low compared to some other countries like JP, TH. Vegetables don't have taste here and most restaurants are not impressive. unless you want to break the bank for it.

It not just about whether she made a 'best' and 'worst' video - but it's just rude to judge ANYwhere you chose to live in as 'worst' so the comments to 'pack & go' is fair. Afterall, it's personal choice - you either try to make a difference otherwise, it's common sense to "take it or leave it". It'll be very different if she used terms like "10 reasons why I like least living in SG" instead of "worst place" - i can bet the comments would have been constructive. Given that English is suppose to be her native tongue, the choice to use such dramatic words is likely to go viral... so yah, she got what she sought.

Bro the snake experience shared by the american woman reminded me when in the middle of the night, a snake came into my primary school and apparently the principal and the police was alerted about the incident.

There are always good and bad things about a place and it all depends on what a person like or don't like. It is all up to an individual. As a Singaporean, I am glad about the things that this lady like in Singapore and I agree with some of the things she does not like about Singapore.

Anyone if they have travelled to other countries recently, they would realize that their prices have also gone up. Mainly due to the oil prices has increased , the heated economy last few years and also the covid last few years. So Singapore is not the only country that prices have gone up!!

I think people who posted negative comments about her felt insulted. I too felt insulted. I presently stationed in Houston and found that you can hardly get fresh fish at all here, food is especially expensive here, tip culture is evil because restaurants do not want to pay their waiting staffs reasonable wages, snakes, coyote and many animals are every where, especially at night, safety sucks here, public transport is near to non existence, medical service price is over the roof and most people are either racists or subtly racist. I have been living in different part of the world for more than 30 years and I have decided to move back to Singapore after the last stint here in Houston. And pls do not criticize our Singaporeans’ English. They just answer to the stupid remarks in a rage. And furthermore, are you trying to imply that those who not good in English should keep their mouth shut?!

So do you think the Americans are justified to be angry and curse your entire family line for writing all that about America? If not, then why do you choose to take offence? Clearly, we Singaporeans need to grow thicker skin. And I sense you also have an inferiority complex with regards to your English proficiency.

Someone explained to me before on why we criticised our own country yet disallow others from doing so. She shared that it is like our children, the parents discipline their own children but never allow others to scold their children. If there is any bone that others have with the children, go to the parents and let the parents deal with it. If foreigners have any issue with Singapore, go knock on the right doors and get things changed or be accepted as part of the community to change things. However, don't complain about things we can't change like the weather as they decided to come here on their own free will.

She is lucky the -outrage- brouhaha died down so quickly. If this happened in a certain neighbouring country. She will literally could be fine or go to jail or both. Even worse, whole family deported and ban from coming ever. SG actually a bit tolerant in this case bc no authoritah involvement. Lol

when she said ;think outside the box. I thought it was more of the fact that sgporean doesn't take not good response well. Also 'Go back to your country' is really typical response to insult why? At the end of the day without foreigner singapore wouldn't be able to be successful like today. And our forefathers were foreigner as well.
