Many Malaysians and Singaporeans (probably almost 1 million of them) felt the same way too. 🤣

wow! i never knew that there was a cargo train railway in singapore. if this was converted to maybe a reserved site for KAP MRT, then maybe the downtown line couldve have a branching overhead track leading to interchange at JE station, rather than going to only BP LRT.

Good to see this video after endlessly reading about both it and its remnants on the web.

Nice vid! But when they went through the remnants of the Jurong line, they didn't mention that there is also a bridge for the tracks near Buroh Cres along Jurong River, along with some track remains along Shipyard Rd, around where the line ended
@RailFilmmakingSG17 күн бұрын
Yes, we know there are a lot more remnants of the Jurong line to discover, but as I mentioned in another reply, each shoot day already has us running to a lot of locations, not counting me going and shoot additional cutaways of other areas myself that didn't end up in the final cut. In the end, we have to narrow down to the key ones and mention those that are less talked about. This episode serves as an inspiration for most people to discover more of it in their own time.

@@RailFilmmakingSG as with most things in current singapore, that's going to be a small group of people. and over the coming years, it will diminish. unlike japan or America, the diminished usage of rails meant everything will be scrapped unless its considered a heritage site. only way to preserve images and experiences like railways might be to recreate replicas for every decade of singapore past, then create a miniaturized POV video like how some model train enthusiast have done. the rail that extended beyond jurong river was removed after 2000s for the new warehouse/industrial projects. it was left to rot alongside the old bus depot at corporation road(opposite SPH). it was kinda surreal scene while taking a bus to see the rare train moving on the tracks doing works then going back to jurong port area to unload while Tang Dynasty City was still up

Ah yes...the line that arguably became the downfall of KTM, in hindsight, this as a proportional big of a mistake as when the British Rail decided to build massive railyards to facilitate freight haulage as part of the Modernization Plan of 1955, right when road haulage popularity skyrocketed (this is such a failure that perhaps in both cases, this would make them think to prioritize road transport and neglecting the railway to the point of pity, and needing to close a rather big amount of branches)

The Jurong branch of the KTMB line was short-lived as it was primarily meant for freight at first.

Hopefully we could get CR400AFs running from SG all the way north to China. The longest HSR route is Beijing-Kunming and covers 2,760km in 10-13 hours.

Nah, I rather the Consortium get a system that can use a varied stock from EU or Japan... less chockhold for the future.

I've gone to Japan more often than KL 😂 Cuz of that fella
Curious though, why was the RTS track curved instead of straight (diagonal)? Curved tracks = longer tracks = longer time = more expensive
@risannd17 күн бұрын
To make the path crossing the strait shorter.

The MY station is further inland than Singapore's plus its facilities are just behind it.
