Fun fact: The bobbin cases made at Singer - Kilbowie, Scotland are marked/stamped on the inside "SIMANCO 45750" with the number directly below the SIMANCO. I have two bobbin cases for my '56 222K that has a 110v Canadian motor and foot control. Have two Singer 221's ('51 Centennial & '53 with the blue user manual) and a 221K made at Kilbowie with original 230v motor that I use with a step down transformer. The 221K case with top tray has the famous 'case stink' that seems to have plagued the UK-made Featherweight cases. I think it's the animal hide glue. Great videos, Randy. It would be much easier to hear you if you had a mic plugged into your camera/device. I use a Bluetooth speaker and with the gain turned all the way up, it's still a strain hearing you clearly. Keep up the great work. Appreciate your videos. Though much of it remedial for me, still nice to hear others takes on these old gems. Take care.

Thanks for those fun facts. Sounds like you’ve done your research and have your facts together correctly. You also have a nice collection of featherweight machines. Thanks for the tip on the sound. I’m working on it for sure. All this KZbin video stuff was born out of necessity to try and illustrate things a little better for my customers. Some things are just too difficult to thoroughly explain over the phone. This is totally “flying by the seat of my pants”. As a licensed pilot, I should be more precise about such things. It’s a factor of available time I guess. Thanks again for taking the time to add interesting and informative comments.

NOW I know why the case stinks. It was in a closet for years at an elderly lady's house. When the auctioneer opened it, wow, the estate sale crowd reared back coughing. I still bought it, and let the machine and accessories air out. Had no idea the case (or machine) was from the UK. I only used it for decorative purposes, but I always need a good back-up to the junky computerized monsters I mistakenly bought and will now pursue her heritage and getting her running. Thanks for divulging the source of the "stank."

@@lucygray6162 if you want a new carrying case, they are available online. They are made well and smell like a new case instead of an old one.
