He is without a doubt the best singer to have ever born. A combo of technique, hard work and innate talent ( his both parents are opera singers ) . He's a beast. His switch from baritone to soprano is just incredible. Listen to his sinful passion performance. The best yet by him. And also his D8 whistle note with a 5 sec vibrato !

Dimash is a natural countertenor, which is extremely rare. There are countertenors like Arno or Vitas for example who can sing in soprano voice, but I personally never heard a countertenor which is able to reach so low at the same time and has such a richness and depth all way through from extreme high to extreme low.

Will you let me share an observation about Dimash? Of course you will, you're a nice lady! Dimash was classically trained (among other things), well enough to be invited to join an opera. He turned them down. He has a different vision for his future as a performer. But he doesn't shy away from using the part of his singing vocabulary that comes from opera. I'll speak for a moment about a part of that vocabulary. Many of his songs, arguably his best songs, start at low energy. They proceed gradually, building tension and suspense. By the time he's ready to show us high energy, the audience is ready for it. On the edge of their seats, ready for fireworks and shattering glass. He delivers, then moves into a denouement. It's all very satisfying, isn't it? A really great example of this is a song he didn't perform in the China show. It's called 'Love Is Like a Dream.' He begins seated on a stool next to a piano, and he stays mostly in head voice at first, soft and gentle. He moves oh, so gradually into higher energy territory. When he finally stands, you know it's about to get unreal. Fireworks! Explosions! Shattering glass! Then comes the denouement, and when silence falls over the audience, the tension finally released, they applaud madly. This is a classical technique largely (but not entirely) absent from modern pop singing. The reason is probably normalization of volumes in pop songs. It's usually the same volume throughout, so why bother with different energy levels? A constant energy level gets the audience right into the flow of the song up front. It's adequate for demonstrating vocal techniques. It's adequate for demonstrating instrumental virtuosity. It's adequate for getting from part A to part B in the song. It's adequate for collecting a paycheck. It is not adequate for inserting drama into a song, the kind of drama that puts the audience on their edge of their seats, eagerly anticipating what's coming next. Dimash is a story-teller as well as a singer. His presentations are dramatic. He's manipulating the energy level of the song to better tell its story. In opera, this is completely normal. In pop music, not so much. One of the reasons Dimash bowls us over - we, who are accustomed to pop music - is that he's giving us not just music, but drama. Drama is not incompatible with modern pop. It's just not often used with as much manipulation as Dimash uses. Quite apart from his incredible vocal mastery, he's using the energy level of his singing - and the orchestra and backup singers behind him - to reach past the audience's ears, past their intellectual appreciation of his vocal techniques, and all the way to their hearts. His showmanship and the drama he employs add greatly to the reception he receives from his audiences. A great many pop artists could benefit from thinking about ways to incorporate this classical technique into their presentations. Sorry, I do ramble on, don't I? I do enjoy your honest reactions, and I'm very happy that you don't listen to the songs in advance, so we can share your first impressions. Go Nya! :-)

@Vadim Malinovskiy, if you are referring to his pronunciation difficulties, that can be disregarded. Music is more about what we and less about the spoken word, although that helps loads, I grant you. But I've heard Dimash sing in various languages - of which I dont know a single word in translation, but he can make me feel something special by the way he sings it, and how he navigates the "river of sound" as I like to call it. Show Must Go On is my all-time fave queen song and he sings it like he wrote it himself.

Omg, I love watching your reactions and technical spiel. It's both very funny and informative! 😂💖🙏 Dimash is such an inspiration for me, cause he's doing exactly what I've been teaching myself for years now. He's like the perfect model, Haha. How he does it is so flawless and fantastic! I've been practicing like literally 400% more mindfully and dedicated since watching him this past week. He's so incredibly inspirational and incredible at his craft. I believe a lot of it is also technique, because I learned accents before I started singing, and so far I've learned baritone to soprano, but I'm still figuring out upper soprano and whistle. When I first started, I was very off key and I was lucky to get more than an octave range in a phrase or song, LOL. But now I can sing Disney princess songs as well as the prince songs, cause of learning how to shift resonance and cord locality. This is similar in principle when it comes to voice acting, which I studied on my own for a bit as well, learning the difference between head, mixed, and chest, and how you resonate in different areas to create an authentic American sound versus a British sound or Australian sound, etc. I mean, I'm sure you understand what I mean, cause you're very technical. It's so interesting going beyond the articulation into resonance. When I go karaoke, people always gawk when I sing Part of Your World and A Whole New World, which are my most practiced songs, lol. Because I also do my best to sing in the style and sound of Jodi Benson and Lea Salonga. Beyond the singing, I like learning the personality, how an artist articulates and enunciates words when they sing. I love how there's so much dimension of singing to explore, and it's really fun to figure out how to create sounds like a particular singer. I agree that our physical structure affects our sound, but it just means that it requires more practice and manipulation to produce the sound, connecting more with your voice and body. I think we just forget how to use parts of our body, and muscle articulation. It's like walking into a dance studio as an adult. There's a lot of learning on how to use certain muscles in singing or voice acting to articulate the larynx and cords accordingly, and then of course there's also practice to gradually strengthen and lengthen the cords. Same with any physical activaty like dancing and even art, being able to articulate your muscles to draw how you want. It took years but I noticed my range has gotten not only higher, but also lower. So there seems to be an interesting correlation to the length, or stretchiness, of the cords and your range.

If you liked his head voice here you're really going to like it in Episode 4 "Late Autumn." It's a sad song that really showcases his beautiful head voice and emotional delivery.
