Hi from Brazil. Eivør's "Falling Free" - Live at the Old Theater in Torshavn is my favorite song in my 54 yo. Like you, my first Eivor song was Tròdlabùndin and now I'm "almost" understanding faroese because of her 😁. Every day I play at least one of her songs and "Falling Free" is the one I love most! 🤩

Just discovered this phenomenal singer yesterday, since when I've listened to goodness knows how many reactions to this song, and also "Falling Free", which, if you've not already listened to it, I urge you to do so! I love the way that you allow the performance to run uninterrupted, and have added your thoughts by way of subtitles, unlike the majority of reactors, who are constantly stopping and starting, putting their two penneth in and disrupting the flow. Much respect to both you and Eivor!

Falling free, Gullspunnin, Manásegl, Wake me up, true love, í tokuni all live performances; and if you have time, this same song but the short version, is about 2 minutes, but is way more raw and powerful!, and basically any live song from her is mindblowing!. She has also colaborate with Einar from Wardruna in the song "Helvegen", she sings and play the drums in that one. Thank you for giving Eivor a chance! She's so underrated but so talented and inspirational :D

It's called Trollabundin, which means 'spellbound'. In the video she sings in the mountains, with video of her and the dramatic scenery. Her voice has such a primal power to it, it reaches right to the core. Be sure to watch all the way to the climactic ending. It's sure to give you goose bumps! Lyrics Trøllabundin eri eg eri eg Galdramaður festi meg festi meg Trøllabundin djúpt í míni sál í míni sál Í hjartanum logar brennandi bál brennandi bál Trøllabundin eri eg eri eg Galdramaður festi meg festi meg Trøllabundin inn í hjartarót í hjartarót Eyga mítt festist har ið galdramaður stóð Spellbound I am, I am The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me Spellbound deep in my soul, in my soul In my heart burns a sizzling fire, a sizzling fire Spellbound I am, I am The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me Spellbound in my heart's root, my heart's root My eyes gaze to where the wizard stood

A very honest, thoughtful reaction Sabina. Eivor's addition is throat singing (Inuit and Mongolian) not beatbox. For a couple of brilliant young singers, take a look at Lucy Thomas, 17, from the UK ( fantastic covers and some celestial duets with her younger sister Martha) and Emily Linge, 12 (a Norwegian father, British mother, born and living in Dubai). In one of Emily's clips, Brian May from Queen accompanies her via Skype on "Love Of My Life", so that speaks volumes for Emily's talent and the quality of Brian May as a person. You probably already know them, but a reaction to First Aid Kit would also be good. Also Aurora from the Nidarosdomen ("Through The Eyes Of A Child") and HAIK ("Daydreamer") concerts.

It's been over a year since you posted this, so surely, by now, others have let you know that she was throat singing in the "unusual" bits. Traditional for her heritage. She has described how, if one knows how to properly throat sing, it is not hard on the vocal chords. I have no clue about it, so I totally trust her on this. :) I love your analysis of this music and have just hit subscribe. (I just now saw this video on my recommendations). Also, NRK are masters at filming productions, so the World Heritage Site in Norway where this concert happened was so beautifully enhanced by the production, imo.

I'm a bit late to the party but I'd like to recommend Goaskinviellja / Eagle Brother by Mari Boine. She is Sámi (northern Norway) and combines ancient and modern styles of music. There are two great versions on the song that I like. First is the more primal version where she's performing in the Dolomites. The second one is her performance at the Oslo Opera House in 2009.

She is singing in Faroese, which is from the Faroe Islands, and most closely resembles the ancient Norwegian that was spoken by the Vikings. She is married now, lives in Copenhagen, but she is a force of nature, isn't she? In between the verses she did a bridge that was described by someone from the islands described as "Foroen Throat Singing." Unbelievable. She sings all the music used by the outstanding series called "The Last Kingdom." Highly recommended!

Sabina I am not familiar with this artist so here I am. Traditional Scandinavian music has become very popular and this artist certainly fits in that category. I enjoyed this performance very much. I greatly look forward to your next Angelina Jordan reaction. She just released her new single, 7th Heaven, a upbeat jazzy tune with a highly inspiring message. The vocal coach, Ceci Dover, recently reacted to "I'm Still Holding Out for You" and was angry at the angels for taking so long to request she react to that performance. Please consider reacting to that as well. Tusand takk Sabina.

Shamanic music "can't be copied" because songs are intended to be personal. They evolve over time with their singer and no one tries to copy that singer exactly. Jeremy Dutcher explains how songs evolve in indigenous North American culture and it's more or less the same in all shamanic musical tradition.

Couldn't agree more about using at least a decent audio setup when evaluating music. So many nuances are lost when listening through a mobile or computer speaker, or even regular bluetooth speakers. Eivør from the same concert in western Norway feat. the band Vamp w/their song "Tir n'a Noir" (again inspired by Irish folk): kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2irgmSLYtp6l7c Apparently the crowd was there for a Vamp concert, explains the full band set up on stage, and they had Eivør with them to contribute on (at least) Tir n'a Noir + this solo guest performance, guess that's why the crowd looked as "unprepared" as many of us from her performance In this song Vamp sings in 🇧🇻 while Eivør sings her parts in 🇫🇴 The concert was also sent in its entirety on NRK (Norwegian public broadcaster)

You're face was a picture. 🌼🌺🌼 ... yes its totally magical shes from the Faroe Islands but shes an expert in North European folk music.. she used some techniques used by Unuit peoples. The visuals and sound quality was curtisy of Norwegian TV.. Heres a thought .... You know the Russian teen Diana Ankudinova ...a princess of goosebumps herself ... imagine if Eivór was able to invite her to a festival or concert and then mentor her for a while.... imagine what those two might be able to come up with.. Eivór is also very diverse in her sounds and styles. The other that often gets recommended she sounds uncannily like Kate Bush at her best. She can also Rock and mix it with the viking drama style.

Song is actually called ‘trøllabundin’ - tròdlabùndin is not a word. I guess the uploader of that video tried to spell it phonetically.

Hello Sabina, If you liked this song I'm sure you will love: Jonna Jinton - The Frozen Call (Ancient Nordic Chant) and maybe also: Jon Henrik Fjallgren - The Way You Make Me Feel. (Both these are Swedish artists).

So, we're going "local" now. :D Time to spin some Sorten Muld I think. There's not many decent live recordings on KZbin, but the studio track "Venelite" is a good place to start: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2TJhZKfqceje5I

Ja, Falling Free er et genialt nummer. Hørte hende i Ebeltoft for 5 år siden, fed oplevelse. Har billetter til efterårets koncert:)

@@sabina1118 it seriously reminds me a lot of some native American music with a hint of the Cranberrys' former singer in the cries.

Everybody will be recommending Falling Free now, and it IS great. But you will also enjoy True Love, I think. And some of my favorites are Surrender (London solo sessions) and Rain (stripped acoustic). And since you are a dane like me, you should find the mashup she did with Nephew 11 (!!!!) years ago quite special. Not a request for this channel, though, so I'll just link it here if you feel like hearing it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnitdGiYfr1pkNU . And one again, thank for the reactions. Love you too.

This sounds like a mix of Wardruna and an Aztec burial chant. Really feel that it's something myself, an explorer hiding in the bush, should not be listening to.
