I was waiting so long for you to react to Emma. What a warm and sincere reaction. Loved it. Emma has the ability to squeeze every emotion out of the toughest man. She's captivating! And many many thanks for the attention to her foundation Gastrostars. It means a lot to her and her fellow sufferers from this condition. I hope you'll come back to Emma soon. She did some great stuff after 'Voilá'. Exactly one year later she performed a new song on the same stage: Dancing On The Stars. It's really mesmerizing! Greetings from The Netherlands.

Emma has this years concert drop of "Dancing on the Stars", which is equally incredible, and she talks to the audience in English, add one more language to her repertoire. Same venue, same orchestra, same conductor (she actually is part of the group now having toured with Andre for over a year). She is now 16, has grown an inch they say, and her voice has matured a little. She will always be tiny because of the damage to her growth plates (she is about the size of an 8 -10 year old.) In this video you can see her older sister sitting with her father (the gentleman with the glasses and black hair). Gives a comparison of where Emma should be stature wise. Great reaction, and knowledge, as always...if you get a chance you might check out this years edition of Emma.

Thank you for your wonderfull video. You, I think, are the first one who explains what a reaction Emma's condition can have on her singing. She, depending on feedingpumps at least 22 hours a day, really is a fighter. Emma sings since the age of 11 and in those years till now there are many video's of her performances (most of them live) on KZbin. All her performances, including the performances on tour, are planned carefully so she is not "on the pumps" when she is on stage and that Emma get's the rest she needs. Since this memorable performance (she did 12 of them in Maastricht) André Rieu decided to try to make it possible for Emma to live her dream: this year she has been on world tour with him and his orchestra and she will be so in 2025 as well. When she turned 16 she was in Athene (Greece) and André invited all her family and friends to join the party there. Her mother and/or her father are always nearby to provide the extra care and support Emma needs. André Rieu has said that he would not have taken Emma with him and his orchestra when her parents were not joining the tour as well. "She is just a kid and Emma must be with her mother or her father every day of the week, and it is my assigment to make that happen". Emma follows school on-line (a very rare permision to get in the Netherlands) and that makes it possible for her to join the world tour and do other performances as well. Members of the orchestra are helping her out when she runs in trouble with that. They all have a soft spot for this girl. And that's not all: thanks to André Rieu Emma will have her very own concert on 21 October 2025 in the Royal Concert Hall in Amsterdam. Within 3 hours after the announcement this was sold out... Emma's most recent songs are "Dancing On The Stars" with André Rieu in 2024, a Disney Medley and one of the most incredible renditions of "Imagine" (John Lennon). But she has record many more songs and a lot of them are available on KZbin. Emma's next performances are André Rieu's Christmas concerts in MECC, a huge hall in Maastricht(NL) and on 4 January 2025 Emma will perform in a Disneyshow in ZIGGO Dome in Amsterdam. A week later, on 11 January, André Rieu's world tour 2025 kicks off at the same location and Emma will be there of course. She without doubt is living her dream. And many people (including me) are so happy for her.

Emma Kok was asked by Andre Rieu to go on world tour with him when she was 15 years old. Emma left school and performed with Andre Rieu and his orchestra all over the world. They do 90 concerts a year so Emma has performed in many countries and cities already. When Emma was 16 Andre asked her to go on world tour with him for the second time. Emma also got asked to sing at a concert on the canals of Amsterdam with people in boats as audience. She also got asked to sing on television and to sing with famous artists like the German Helene Fischer. She will also be doing a concert of her own next year in the royal concert hall in Amsterdam. I wrote earlier Emma left school but she does world school online now. As said Andre Rieu does 90 concerts a year and he is the 6th best selling artist in the world in a line up of Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift etc. So Emma has to perform a lot and travel to different countries and cities a lot too. She has to be on feeding tubes 22 hours a day. She feels free when she sings on stage. Her mother is always backstage to disconnect and connect her to the feeding tubes. Sometimes she has to be in a wheelchair because she has run out of energy or when she has to walk a long distance.

Wonderful reaction. Just a little more content to Emma’s performance. In several clips of the audience is some of her father, black hair and beard with black rimed glasses. To his right is his oldest daughter (Emma is the youngest) and his son is to his left. Mom is back stage with Emma’s bag of pumps and tubing which she must hook up to asap. Is he remembering back the many days spent at his daughter’s bed side praying for another day? Wondering what kind of life will she have with this condition that takes so much from her. And now here she is, living a dream which not long ago probably seemed like a fantasy. I say to Andre, bravo!

been waiting for your analysis on this quite remarkable young singer for some time now, as really enjoy and learn from your analysis. Once again you did not disappoint. Great reaction and thank you for actually mentioning her struggles, but also her great technique, her range and breathing and so on. You are the first to mention all that you did and you have to be commended for that. It is very emotional to watch, as well as very inspiring. If we feel like complaining, just put this young lady into your mind and think what she has to overcome. In taking nothing away from this outstanding performance, knowing your love of choirs, have you heard of the Danish National choirs. If not, think you would be amazed at their level of discipline and professionalism. For the senior choir, The DR Pigekoret, would love to hear your analysis of their song, "Hil Dig frelser og forsoner." it is from the book of Psalms and is interesting in how many parts are being sung at the same time. The Juniorkoret are great in White water Hymnal. based on the version by Pentatonix. For the childrens choir, the DR Bornekoret, give the Christmas song medley, "Somewhere in my memory/Carol of the Bells" a listen. They are well worth listening to, and would find your reaction interesting.

Your authentic, kind and empathetic reaction is the best reaction to this singing experience from Emma that I've seen, and I've watched reactions to this performance MANY times! Also, your explanations related to anatomy/physiology are exactly what I needed to understand her entire experience. I have a background in the medical field but I didn't know details about gastroparesis and singing. Also the vagal nerve explaination was helpful. If I'm correct, when a person is under extreme stress/anxiety or perhaps they see blood, they can have a vasovagal reaction and they faint. Basically, the vagus nerve gets overstimulated and it affects the heart and blood pressure. You can get nauseous as well. The vagus nerve is the largest nerve in the human body. (Anatomy lesson of the day-sorry) Anyway.... I can't wait to see what else Emma does--every time I hear this performance my reaction is much like yours Beth. The tears just flow. Thank you so much for this reaction 🙏🏼💜🥹

Beth, it's very clear that Emma has well and truly got to you, and that you also understand her condition very well, which helps considerably, so where to start, your reaction to Emma is so good, so positive about her, you clearly have done your research, thank you for that, and there's so much to let you know about, and I know I may hit the KZbin limit on comment length, but here goes. First, even more impressive, Voila was Emma's first ever performance with Andre, and her first ever performance of this version of the song, very much modified by Andre from how she originally learned it, she won Ministars with it in early 2023, and Andre significantly changed it to suit the orchestra, the quality of what she delivered was beyond stunning, and this was over 12 months ago, and in front of 12,500 people, the first of a series of 12 concerts in the town square of Maastricht, Andre's home town, since then, she's been touring with Andre for the whole of 2024, and also did a number of concerts between July and December with him, she's now appeared in front of at least 1 Million people around the world, that's the sorts of numbers that Andre draws to his concerts, recently, they performed 4 sell out concerts in Lisbon, at a venue that seats 20,000. Emma wasn't just singing, that night, in Maastricht, she was living her dream, as she walked out on to that stage, mentally, she was the butterfly of her dream emerging from the cocoon and soaring high over that stage, the orchestra and that huge audience, it was the theme of her first single, LAAT MIJ EEN VLINDER ZIJN , let me be a butterfly kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJTbkqFvh5qmaqc released 12 months earlier, a song written for her, and expressing her deep desire for freedom, to be able to rise above the limitations of her disease, Gastroparesis, which means that she's tied to 2 feeding pumps that push liquid nutrition into her stomach for 22 hours a day, she can only be free of the pumps for a maximum of 2 hours a day, sometimes less, and her stamina is not great, so there are times when she has to resort to using a wheelchair for mobility, so her time off the pumps when on stage is precious, her therapy. Voila has had in excess of 76 million views on KZbin alone, and a huge number of streams on other social media sites, bringing the total to well over 125 Million, and there's other work by her on KZbin. 12 months later, she sang a new song, and that new song massively raised the bar of perfection that she'd set previously, and she massively cleared that new high bar with the performance, Dancing on the Stars, kzbin.info/www/bejne/gp2UpoWVfbqChpo and this has recently gone over 10 million views on KZbin Emma has used the time she's been touring with Andre and the orchestra to watch, listen and learn, and the result is a massive lift in her ability, it's sublime, and the top notes are mind blowing, both in terms of the range, and the duration, the best words I can use is to say that on several occasions, she delivers the equivalent of a vocal explosion, which devastates everything within earshot, she has such power, I don't know how, she's still tiny as a result of her illness, 1 Mtr 50, and only a little over 50 Kg, but she has worked on making sure she delivers incredible performances. Some of her other songs from 2024 have been performed as part of the annual commemoration concerts to remember the huge number of lives lost in the Netherlands during the liberation of the country from German occupation, she performed in front of the Dutch Royal family and high ranking politicians, a duet with April Darby, 'When you believe', and it was a wonderful performance. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3ibiIlnfKunlcU She also performed other songs during these concerts, a stunning performance of a technically difficult song, a Demi Levato cover of 'Father', kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3ibiIlnfKunlcU Another deeply emotional song from the same concert, 'Hero', kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKDLgWOMaKp2iLs From a different concert, 'You raise me up', kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHq7c2qKl8qArNk In the autumn, she appeared at a concert, previewing an event she's been booked for in January 2025, at the Ziggodome in Amsterdam, where she will perform 2 concerts with the Disney organisation, and this preview is stunning, both in terms of her power, and the quality of what she delivers, her stage presence is incredibly good, and her delivery of these well know songs is just sublime. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJmkfZRjl8aNfaM This is a huge event, in a massive venue, and then, as an indication of just how much her star has risen, after 2 guest appearances with Disney, only a week later, Emma will be appearing at the same venue with Andre Rieu, in a completely different event, as part of his 2025 world tour, which she's been booked for, a continuance of her appearances around the world, Another Disney song, she recorded this at home in her own studio, from the film, 'The little mermaid', Ariel's song, 'Part of your world' kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6XbpGCXg96FgLs She's also announced her first ever concert in her own name, it will be in Amsterdam in October 2025, at the national concert theatre, it was announced and sold out in 3 hours last week, and it will be a wonderful event, I was very happy to get tickets for it. Other songs, with a Christmas theme, she did a wonderful performance for Dutch TV singing an orchestral arrangement of 'Hallelujah', kzbin.info/www/bejne/b6K5eYSrhbaompI Emma was a guest star in the Andre RIeu 2023 Christmas concert series, and sang several songs, a beautiful version of 'White Christmas', started A capella, with no guide note, and then Andre brings the orchestra in, before she's joined by other singers, a large event, you could have heard a pin drop as she started singing, kzbin.info/www/bejne/kIuoqpt9Z8d4m68 Later in the same show, 'All I want for Christmas', kzbin.info/www/bejne/rnSlgImtbLV4qLc One of Emma's first ever appearances, June 2020, with her brother Enzo, a special concert with no audience because of Covid, she was only 12 at the time, and a tiny 12 at that, but even then, her ability and quality was so evident, kzbin.info/www/bejne/pX7conapa9-NhpY There is so much more, and a search of KZbin for Emma Kok will find a lot of her performances, my close is important, the only thing that can stop Emma now is her health, and that's why I am going to repeat my appeal to everyone listening or reading, if at all possible, please make a (regular) donation to Emma's foundation, who are working to find better treatments, or ideally, a cure for the illness that at the moment has no cure, and also can have devastating implications for sufferers, many of whom have taken their own lives as a result of the intense pressure and stress that the discipline of living with gastroparesis imposes on them. I know from recent social media posts, she still finds the unrelenting daily limitations of tube feeding incredibly hard to cope with at times, despite that she's loving the singing with Andre, which she regards as her therapy. She posted some heart breaking photos and comments from her holiday in Portugal, having to use her wheelchair after a time swimming, even then, at a time when the family were relaxing and enjoying a break away from their normal lives, Emma had no relief, no escape from the mental and physical pain of having to live with the numbing discipline of the 22 hours every day with the pumps attached to her, her ongoing lack of stamina that hugely limits and impacts on her life and desire to be free, and she never talks about the physical pain that so often is a side effect of the failure of her stomach to properly process the contents, or the indescribable pain of the procedure to replace her feeding tubes, which she endures every 5 months, without anaesthetic, to avoid any risk of damage to her voice. Her summer change of stoma and feeding tubes (Her Mickey button) happened only 3 days before the first Vrijthof concert In Maastricht in July, and it went wrong, and took well over an hour compared to the normal 20 to 30 minutes, a video of the rehearsals the next day kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmfFnXZrfr-Ce6M made it very evident that she was still suffering, she had to wear a winter coat to keep warm, and this procedure has to happen every 5 months. Fortunately, this month's change earlier in the week went without problems Emma's foundation can be found at gastrostars.nl Please, if at all possible, join me in making a (regular) contribution to her foundation, to enable them to help patients like Emma, and research this awful disease that has affected her from birth, and required her to be tied to the pumps and feeding tubes since she was 9 MONTHS old, for 22 hours a day, hopefully, the work of her foundation will find a cure. Please also be very careful if you post or respond to anything from Emma on social media, her increased visibility has resulted in significant numbers of bad actors creating fake accounts, the ONLY valid web site that supports Emma and others like her is the gastrostars site. One of the main people in Gastrostars is a surgeon who has a lot of experience in treating gastroparesis, and she is not only a surgeon, but also suffers from the same disease herself, to the extent that as a result of her condition worsening, she's had to leave her role in the hospital, and she is now dedicated to the foundation, and working to help find possible new treatments, or even better the cure that will free people like Emma to live a more normal life, rather than be tied to the feeding pumps for so many hours every day. It will be so good if the work of Emma's foundation can lead to a better treatment, or even a cure, which will free her to do more singing, and it may be people here who make that possible.

Emma is a Dutch girl and doesn't speak French, but she wrote down the song Voila completely phonetically and studied it phonetically while playing the original song by Barbara Pravi. Through the phonetic study of the lyrics and the help of a French-speaking woman, she got the perfect French pronunciation. Emma can only feel free for a maximum of 2 hours a day on "good days", because she has to be connected to her tube feeding devices for the other 22 hours of the day. She disconnects 5 minutes before her performance and reconnects to her devices immediately after the performance. The time that she is not connected, Emma feels free Here is another English performance by Emma Kok with André Rieu from 2024: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gp2UpoWVfbqChpo 2021 Emma kok sings; A moment like this. Hi Beth! May I suggest Danny Elfman of Oingo Boingo? Not only does he have a great unique voice but he is also a great movie score composer doing over 100 movies like Beetle Juice, Men In Black, Good Will Hunting and of course the Nightmare Before Christmas.

Hast Du Dir von Ihr schon "Dancing on the Stars" schon angeschaut oder "You raise me up". Gut ist auch "Father". Es gibt hier zwei Versionen. Sie hat vorkurzen auch "Imagine" gesungen. Sie seit letzten Jahr sehr gesanglich zugelegt.

Its a lot of a mental thing, when she's performing, she's not on the tubes, the rest of the 24hrs of that day...she is. She sais...she feels free when she's on stage. ,

Emma does not speak a word of French. She learned the song phonetically and with the help of an interpreter.

Hello Beth, I've listened to your reaction more often now, because the medical stuff is very interesting. I don't understand English very well, so I often looked there. What do you mean by the Vegas nerve? That singing stimulates the stomach or what do you mean? That would explain why she started singing in 2020. Before she only played the violin. Maybe that's why she sings so well because the stomach isn't controlled, which would mean that the nerve is too short or isn't working properly. Can you write the whole thing to me again? Thanks.

Now that you have watched last years song, you need to hurry and catch up with this years. Her first original song, Dancing On The Stars. It’s even better than this one.
