The leaving the white partner at a majority black party thing happened to me. I took my girlfriend at the time to my best friends dads birthday party at a club in DC. We (the guys) outside to take a picture. Maybe 2-5 minutes later she comes out the door past security screaming at me about being “abandoned”. We then had a screaming match on the street. I wonder how common this is.

It frustrates me that family waits until the holidays to "hash out " issues, there's so many days in a year. Its so important to build resilience. The world is full of things that are desirable but the hyper-reactivity to certain external factors (seeing couples, etc) can be paralyzing. When I was single I remember being so negatively triggered by happy couples. Until I healed that part of myself internally, I kept attracting more single-ness and loneliness and I dated from that energy of sadness and despair. Eventually I changed my reactions to neutral and later to positive feelings of warmth and admiration I felt when I saw couples (yes even while single). That vibe changed my entire energy.

I live in Argentina. Yes, it's a 3rd world country, but man... In this particular aspect it trumps many other countries in so many ways! Here, Christmas is usually spent with family (night of the 24th, we make a special toast when the clock marks 00:00) and some people go out with friends after dinner, so at about 1am on the 25th or something like that. If you're in a relationship usually people will spend Christmas with one member's family and New years with the one member's family, and that's it! Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, it's so much easier when you're not coupled, since you don't have to decide anything, you just spend Christmas with your family (parents, grand parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings, etc). The only people who I've heard talking about whether "they are in a relationship for Christmas" or not is people from the us. My heart goes to you all, because i know your culture has conditioned you to think about this thing and it's sad... Wish you all a merry Christmas and happy ny💕
