Probably a fair settlement of this divorce would have been: You brought me and my son to the US, we can now work hard and build a new life, you do not have to pay me anything, and we both walk away and live our lives. They probably both would be alive and free today. The cheater probably felt exploited despite his cheating and could not handle the consequences of his betrayal (divorce and handing her money every month).
