this tutorial really made sense to me, thanks Sinix ! I did a few notes for myself for the sketching and theory part since I'm practicing this topic, if anyone interested Hair is a graphic element ! -Graphic appeal -playing with texture while searching for shapes -overdetailling goes often messy -Structure -Hairlines (placing the hair line + variations) (Beard has its own hair line) (Eyebrows follows the top eye socket) (Hair has mass + volume, follows gravity) (Lengh of the hair is important, shorter hair = less gravity, can be "wilder") -Logic -Gravity = flowy lines -Consistent lengh (haircut that make sense) -Common mistakes : -no volume -weird hairline -getting too smol (!shapes!) -big medium small all and every day (shape hierarchy) -complexity vs simplicity, going mostly simple is fine

Awesome video Sinix. To offer some criticism, I think it would be helpful to bring up information regarding the material spectrum (Highly reflective materials to Matte surfaces). For example, in this video, it would have been great if you brought up how hair would relate to it. I personally would put hair into the more metallic range due to how it reacts to highlights. Also, I believe hair styles hold different interior lines (separate to hair lines) that contribute to the anatomy of a hair style. I believe it is called the scalp line? Some people have a straight line running down the top of their head, while some have hair that fan out like a spiral from a central dot on their head. I am mighty confused when i comes to this topic of hair. Is there any experienced advice you could give me on this subject? Thanks for reading if you did, love your videos and ideas!

I do think a lot of what you said not to do has a time and place in various styles. For example thin hair is real and can look good with certain characters. There are also styles that ignore logic in order to lean to the more fantastical side, you can see this in many popular anime.

For the natural curly patterns: there can be so much more textural details because there’s so much hair! I get simplifying but I mean the even the cornrows don’t even look like braids. It’s not just chunks of hair in different shapes. I mean I personally love drawing and painting black hair because I get lost in the details, similar to how you did with the little wisps and things on the straighter hair. No hate to this man, I just want to acknowledge that simplifying doesn’t mean you have to make ‘textured hair’ into a big ass blob all the time
