2007 Suzuki X7 as well. Pulled the ABS fuse and that solved it, but disables the AWD. Now you mention the ABS pump and master cylinder I'm thinking that may be the case. I too have found that the peddle does seem to drop too much.
@FixingWithPassion6 жыл бұрын
If the pedal just drops 2/3 way to the floor I'd look at the master cylinder. If the abs was bad you will have a pedal that almost goes to the floor.
@johnbass75516 жыл бұрын
What has happened is that twice the ABS has locked up twice. Once just after having parked for 5 minutes and driving but noticing that the car wasnt coasting (no ABS light on), but noticed it and stopped. Reset after a brief stop and was fine. Realized that I could pull the ABS fuse and "solve" if it happened again. It did while wife was driving on the freeway. She pulled over and pulled the fuse. Before all this happened I noticed the brake peddle went further down than I thought it should. So youre saying that it is likely the ABS pump? Or corroded connectors/wires? Was very intermittent. Made me think that road junk (snow and ice) was causing this.

I have seen many different answers to this same problem. I am still suspicious whether you really solved the problem with the master cyclinder change out. Part of me thinks that you actually twigged the brake booster shaft just enough to stop it from sticking, thus putting it out of "boost" mode . This is a common problem that happens when your brake booster is wearing out. The shaft sticks and the brakes slowly apply themselves with no foot pressure on the pedal. Did you ever try and disconnect the vacuum line from the booster to see whether the brakes would release themselves. This is what is happening to my brakes.
@FixingWithPassion5 жыл бұрын
Nope! I never in my life had to twigg the adjuster on any brake booster! You should never have to on stock applications! Brake are still going and working perfect to this day!

@williamvangorden445 жыл бұрын
You do know that the plunger can be adjusted there is a nut at the end of the shaft of the brake booster where you put the master cylinder back in you can adjust that maybe that might be too far forward and it might be causing the brakes to stick. The next time you try that again or just tried to remove master cylinder there's enough like I said on the end of the shaft that can be that is adjustable. It might be too progressive.

Take off the wheel, open the "bleeder" on the caliper that's sticking and get a screw driver and put between the brake pads. Try to push the caliper pistons back. It if does not move then its your brake caliper that is bad. If not then master cylinder is bad.
