I believe Sir Cliff 100%. I have never known a love of my life senario and I'm in my 60s. Like him I've had relationships but they weren't life long because they were infatuation and not right for me. I went forward with some because I lacked maturity and discernment. It's only now that I feel I could actually know what mature love is though I am very content on my own. I believe the reason people feel this way is perhaps something in their lives gives them so much peace and meaning that they don't feel the lack. In his case he says he wanted to build a career, one that would require his full energy and attention. And his faith filled the gap, no doubt. In my case God has been the love of my life since I was a child. He fills the gap for me too. Bravo to Sir Cliff for standing his ground with humor like the gentleman he is.

Come to think about it, i've never been heart broken, romantically. Heartbreak in my opinion, only comes when you have fully commited your life to someone and for whatever reason, the commitment ends. Sent from Darlington.

to me thats so sad that in all his long life, he has never loved someone enough to be heartbroken...he has obviously never really connected romantically like that

be happy for him. He's living his best life. And personally, I've never seen people that way. Some of us are just natural loners and prefer our space and privacy. Nothing wrong with that. and it's sad how many people have baited him and accused him of heinous things all because they can't seem to wrap their head around what I see as a simple concept. I for one am glad that I'm not the only one who doesn't let society's fairy tales control my life and compromise my brain. Not healthy. Cliff was just too nice to put it that way. I know of lots of people who fall into the same category as me and cliff, and we're usually the happiest and most peaceful folks around. Don't get the wrong idea. It's all for the better.

I don't know why this seems so weird and unbelievable. Lots of people are the same. I've never been heartbroken by anyone. Lots of reasons for that and it's a long story, but it's really simple though. I don't see the problem. Not everyone is the same and they don't have to be! It really annoys me when everybody makes a big deal out of a basic and somewhat irrelevant personal fact. Nobody believes me because it is still mostly uncommon, but it's getting to be a bit less so because some people are doing what I did early in my life and learned through observation instead of experience. It's actually quite comforting and satisfying to be in the minority. I can relate to Cliff here and I'm much the same way (minus the past relationships lol) and I truly believe it's one of the reason people like us are typically so much happier and more peaceful. Cliff is a smart guy and he gets it. You've gotta value truth over emotion. you've just got to in life, otherwise you won't have much of one.
