I was wrong!! The man who got trolled and abused when he couldn't get 19 from 18 when Sachin practically handed over the miracle in a platter with his 175. That was the Jadeja I remembered. A few years back, I liked Dhoni but always got irked when he trusts Ash and Jaddu. Now, I see how a seed grows into a tree. It takes resources, time and mainly "faith". Like Sehwag, no one would've thought of Jaddu's role in test cricket even in their wildest dreams but it is not at all an exaggeration to say that he is the most valuable player in the entire team, especially at the home conditions. Batting, bowling, fielding and saviour of over-rate. No wonder cricket experts call Dhoni an excellent cricketing mind and that's the main difference between keyboard warriors who watch cricket and people who understand cricket.

You have to play with the rules you have. That’s the same for all players. He was not always a great Test player. But He was been a great bowler for a long time. He’s fundamentally a better player now. In every way than ever before.
@Satu_Supari3 жыл бұрын
@@JarrodKimberYT He is relatively better today. But he was always good. If you look at 2012 Australia tour of India where India won 4-0. He played a very crucial role. I think he was leading wicket taker and dismissed Michael Clarke(Who was Australia best player of spin) 5 times out of 6 . Don't forget the Lords test. Batting wise he probably has the Highest batting average for players batting at 7 or below. At that position you can't expect him to make centuries, especially when majority of test matches he played were on 200 per innings total. When for example India did played on batting paradise, he would always come at score of around 500 for 6 , when the team was on verge of declaring. I am his true fan since 2012, so i know better than most people regarding this(Sorry if i sound cocky). I watch each and every bowl of the match when he is the in the side. Regarding rules, my point was that when ICC changed rules, i think in 2014-15, the game skewed in favour of batsman. That's the reason we witnessed 350 runs in odi so frequently. That is why no one is surprised if batsman average over 50. It also became difficult to be a spinner because of two new balls. That is why you won't see much spinner in top 10 bowlers in odi. Finger spinner is becoming a dead art. When Kuldeep and Chahal came to the team, because since they were new, they got wicket in heaps. But when they played matches after marches, and opposition got used to them, they were smashed and now are out of the team. Anyways, for me he is the best Test allrounder. If someone comes close to him is Ben Stokes ofcourse. But Jadeja is up there with Legends. Also since he is the most agile player in the world, you would also see him play for another 6-7 years atleast. He is in form of his life and because of injury he will miss the English series at home, which is so unfortunate. He could easily get another 20-25 wicket and 3-4 fifties.

I am proud fan of his since 2012. Everyone use to mock him and i used to take great care umbrage in it. Because i knew how talented he was. I used to watch entire Test matches only for him. Great injustice was done to him, because he would be given such a little opportunity to bat. If he was in any other team he would have got many more overs to bat in white ball cricket. even batting as low as 7. Because Indian team always builds up to innings like 43 over 260 for 3-4 max. Always plays alll the overs.

I still remember his 2014 NZ tour where he had a dream run with the bat in ODIs. I wanted him to be promoted, but unfortunately had a rough patch for 2-3 years in LOIs inbetween.Always believed he had potential to bat in top 5, particularly in ODI. In T20Is, he rarely get to bat.

As someone who thinks you are one of the best cricket writers in the world (and definitely one of the most humorous ones) and absolutely hang to every thing you say even I must confess that I was a Jadeja skeptic as recently as before the start of this series. Yes, he was a world class test cricketer which he showed in 2013 itself, yes he was a good overall ODI Cricketer but he would get on my nerves in T20 Cricket. IMO, he had no business being in India's T20 team and I considered him one of the major reasons why India hasn't won a 2nd WT20 title after 2007 WT20. I thought he quite responsible for India's losses in WT20 in 2009, 2010 and 2016. The main problem was India's lack of bowling options which meant he had to bowl all 4 and on flat wickets with dew he was very hittable and he would bowl faster and faster making himself even more hittable in those small stadiums in the sub-continent.
@sdroy84agt3 жыл бұрын
It was never a problem for CSK as they had 7/8/9 bowling options (and MSD on flat pitches with dew often used him as a specialist fielder batting at 7-8 and not bowling) but it was always a huge problem for India.

I had him in my Most improved video, he's certainly better now that he ever has been before. But as I said at the start, once you're branded, changing that can do so tough.

Sir, I won't say he is at his best bowling form. His best was vs Eng and Aus at home in 2016-17 in tests when he was getting a bit of drop (or dip) in the air. Over the last 20 months he has often been a touch short though he has rectified his length in this series. But yes, definitely he is in his best ever white ball batting form. His batting started flowering since 2016-17 home season in tests and since then has gone from strength to strength but his white ball batting form (especially slog overs hitting) has been terrific since this IPL. Anyway, thanks for the reply.

Are we seeing resurgence of finger spinners? In the recent test series Ashwin was exceptional. Why do spin bowling trends change? Earlier wrist spinners were on the rise.(Kumble,Warne etc). Later Finger spinners became important. ( Harbhajan,Murali, Vettori,Ojha, Jadeja and Ashwin). Again we started to give importance to Wrist spinners.( Yuzi, kuldeep, Yasir Shah etc). Again now ppl are picking up Finger spinners. Are we seeing a trend here or am I just speculating and there isn't something like trend or phenomenon.
@JarrodKimberYT3 жыл бұрын
Finger spinners have been on top since Kumble retired. DRS helps them, as did the ICC not enforcing chucking for a few years. The best wrist spinners have been dominating T20, meaning perhaps they have spent less time working on their Test form. There is certainly a trend. But, it's not like there were a lot of wrist spinners before either.

For numbers-based analysis, which is often true, you do not need commentator yelping out nicknames when a cover drive is being caressed through cover and mid-off. You need prudent analysis with a tinge of humour and facts. Jarrod gets all this in just 5-7 minutes clipping. And, hey, he is a very good interviewer as well, check this channel out, check out his podcasts (I love Red Inker) and then, read whatever he writes. One of the best is J-Rod!

Warne called Softie to Starc Manjrekar rightly called Bits and pieces to Jadeja. Rest is History. Mind you, Manjrekar was right at that time and Jadeja was mediocre then.

Jadeja can bat at the top or middle order as a pure batsman and I believe he will do good because of his game awareness, temperament and technique.

Since Sanjay said that, jadeja stopped being a bits and pieces player, but Sanjay became a bits and pieces commentator.

If you see stats after 2016 Ravindra Jadeja is even better than Ben stokes , Shakib Al Hasan and Jason holder..in terms of batting average and bowling average
@Satu_Supari3 жыл бұрын
He is way better. Only Stoke is comparable. Shakib is most overrated player of the century.
@yadhaider8073 жыл бұрын
@@Satu_Supari Lol tf? Shakib and Stokes are on par with each other, their stats are enough to prove that. Jadeja's lagging behind both, just because you awfully hate the Bangladesh cricket team doesn't change facts.

@@yadhaider807 If Stats is the only criteria than Sunil Chhetri is better than Ronaldo and Messi. LOL And I don't hate Bangladesh Cricket team, but Shakib is overrated. Except for his innings against New Zealand in WC in 2015, I don't find any worth highlights in his career.
@yadhaider8073 жыл бұрын
@@Satu_Supari You freaking judge and compare cricket players based on their stats as long as they've played a decent amount of games mate and are playing on the same level. No needa be biased. And don't tell me you didn't watch Shakib bat in 2019 world cup, 600+ runs along with 11 wickets was no ordinary feat.
@Satu_Supari3 жыл бұрын
@@yadhaider807 Same level? How many Australian, England,South African, Newzealand (SENA) tour Shakib was part of? India doesn't even sends First XI to the likes of Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Ireland,West Indies,Lanka and may i add Bangladesh. How can you say they are on same level. Did you see this year IPL bidding, Shakib got sold on meagre 3.2 crore. Hardly any team had shown interest in him. If he was the world best all-rounder then surely he would have many takers. Moeen ali who is also a spin bowling allrounder got over 7 crore bid. When Shakib was in SRH, Mohammad Nabi played more matches than him. He was always preferred over Shakib. Just tells that he isn't good enough player. LOL, comparing Shakib with Jadeja. Jadeja bats 8th down in test cricket. Hardly he gets to face over 20 balls in Odis if ever. Hardly gets over 10 balls in T20Is. If Shakib was born here he would not be good enough for First class cricket forget Indian team. Likes of Axar Patel, Sundar are way better than Shakib in all three facets of the game. Too bad they won't get many chances in International cricket.

Loving Jarrod's videos - all of them. Though this one looks a bit off-colour (relatively speaking). Even with the numbers Jarrod shows before Manjrekar's comment, Jadeja was a decent all-rounder by any standard. So Sanjay, Jarrod, was not accurate even then. I think there is another layer to Sanjay's remark - and that is beyond stats. I won't hold this against you, but: Sanjay comes from a time when it was the birth right of Mumbai/ Chennai (then Madras)/ Bangaluru (then Bangalore)/ Delhi wallah big-town boys to represent India. Kapil Dev (I am named after the great man) being the only exception. The snarky-ness about small-town boys perhaps came naturally to Sanjay. His comment on Jadeja being bits and pieces weren't well-informed in a country long starved of all-rounders (remember Noel David? Kanitkar? Sunil Joshi (good bowler though) or 'pinch-hitting' of Kumble/ Srinath anyone?). Even old Jadeja sits well for a decent all-rounder. The new one is a match-winner (a team rarely has/ needs 11 match-winners). I repeat, this new one don't make the old one 'bits and pieces'. The old one did a good job. You are being too kind to Sanjay (a professional courtesy perhaps?)
@JarrodKimberYT3 жыл бұрын
No, he was bits and pieces before I wrote something in the world cup, took a huge look into his numbers, and you couldn't rely on him as a genuine all rounder then.

I love you Jarrod but even if you gave me resource for Manjrekar being correct on calling him bits and pieces player. I still hate Manjrekar passionately. He is among very few. His recent comment on Pandya "I will not have him in my playing XI even when he is in this form." Suggest he does not like all-rounders. Do you remember Pollard episode ? A side from that have you listened his commentry ? It's garbage. I know it's too dismissive. But I do not like one bit.
