Still playing this horrifying game. The audio and movements of those damn Shinto are so fkn creepy. Most underrated horror game of all time and will pass this game down to my son's when they get old enough to handle these types of games.

@@beaneatingoni1353 Siren 1 is way creepier. It's the scariest thing in entertainment (movies and games lol) for me. It's a combination of the difficulty, the dreadful atmosphere, the uncanny valley of the faces technology, the colours, the level design and sightjack, the soundtrack. The list goes on lol I've become an expert on Siren 1, having played it hundreds of times yet still sometimes I nearly get a heart attack when im focusing on stealth and all of a sudden the screen turns red and a shibito all of a sudden is coming after me : P Those who played Siren 1 know that feeling lol

I just want to say thanks for this! I remember trying to look up the shibito brains a couple years ago and couldn't find a single good source. These enemy designs deserve all the exposure they can get because they are top tier and some of the best any horror game has to offer.

These abominations are far more creepier and disgusting than the last of us's creatures, i loved the kou-yamibitos and the otoshigo from siren 2, great series, the ps2 had great horror though i feel the suffering and haunting ground are underrated

If you take a close look at the first Shibito Brain in-game, you can actually find the original head of the person tangled in I believe the bottom right cluster under all of those tentacles. It's SO creepy when you find it

I've rememberd playing this game 7 years ago. Back at that time, me and my cousin used to call Yukie "ugly nurse" because she was once a pretty looking shibito and then turn into an ugly one lol. Good old memories from this game. As of today, we still call her the "ugly nurse" lol

Actually, the Giant Head is also a Shibito Brain, too. Because when you knock it down, all the Fly Shibito in that area also dead. It's a special type of Shibito Brain which only hide but don't do anything when you discover its location. It only appear in chapter 9-2 of Seigo Saigo character.

Sure this game is a little clunky and I'm personally not that big of a fan of stealth horror. Plus I hate the whole chapter select/tv show inspired "previously on" gimmick. This is still an incredible game. The atmosphere is top notch. It had a perfect blend of like Evil Dead 1 creepy shit in the woods vibes mixed with weird fantastical trippy eldritch type horror. Also, the brain shibito are some of the best overall designs in any horror game. Too bad they are such a small part of the game though.

How come Yukie stalks Seigo Saiga? In the description you said that He is her lover. Is there lore behind this? Also, where does it say that her name is Yukie? (I’ve never played SIREN)

Yukie was his girlfriend, who was obsessed with him. She followed him, called him "Sensei", and spied on him. This annoyed him so much at one point that in the beginning of the game, he sacrifices her, which turns her into a Shibito. Her name is mentioned in the files you find.

Kokoro Kiseki Brain Shibito specifically controller of the Shibito in the area. Taking out a Brain incapacitates all the other Shibito at once.

Most of them aren't necessary to finish the game, they are more or less hidden in the levels, and that's kinda creepy. All they do is, if you kill them, enemies of a certain type die in the whole level.

Not a "true story", per se, but there's a fable about the Ningyo (roughly translated as "mermaid"). A folk story about a fisherman manages get a hold of a mermaid and invites over some guests to eat it. Just before dinner, someone peeks into the kitchen and notices the fisherman cooking the half-human and half-fish monster and warns other not to eat it, instead they decide to wrap their share and hide it. But one of the guests was drunk enough to take its wrap home (instead of dumping it) and accidentally feed it to his daughter (Yao Bikuni): making her immortal. The game (aptly named "Siren") features a very similar premise, where a woman (Hisako Yao) eats desperately the estranged remains of a seemingly alien creature during a terrible famine hitting the village, cursing her with immortality until the monster can be resurrected (leading to the "Mana" religious cult as seen in-game). The stories share the same "fate" too. The girl on the fisherman's story supposedly became a nun, praying to the Gods until she was eventually forgiven for her actions and was tested in order to recover her humanity (and she did, 800 years into the curse she finally died). Hisako Yao on the other hand, has to resurrect Datatsushi in order to lose her immortality, that's her test. You can find a parchment in-game explaining a very very resumed version of the original story.

no, siren blood curse is a reimagining of the first game. pretend the first games events were real. siren blood curse is like a movie or tv show based on those events. its an Americanized version of siren 1. its suppose to be one of those supernatural shows but as a game.
