Order "Arcane Astral Aeons" here: smarturl.it/Arc...
featuring Yannis Papadopoulos from Beast in Black
Two years after Dim Days Of Dolor mastermind Morten Veland presents the ninth Sirenia album: Arcane Astral Aeons once more reflects the Norwegian`s love for title alliterations and succeeds in infusing the darkest night with the brightest colors. Who could resist a symphonic, unbridled opener like ‘In Styx Embrace‘?
Singer Emmanuelle Zoldan`s ethereal mezzo-soprano voice connects all 11 varied and spirited compositions: the insanely melodic ‘Into The Night‘ impressively showcases her abilities and flows into the catchy ‘Love Like Cyanide‘ that`s not even afraid to employ a small handful of black metal trademarks. Danish producer legend Jacob Hansen managed to harmonize Sirenia`s more soothing side with edgy metal sounds and delivers a perfectly balanced wild ride. The most compelling release so far courtesy of Morten Veland!

The chorus and the beginning part seem like they are taken straight from pop music. Even the bridge is poppish. Black metal? Did you guys ever listened to proper black metal? Symphonic metal... ok fine. Gothic metal? Gothic metal is Paradise Lost, Tiamat. Tristania, TON or Moonspell. Sirenia used to be gothic, but like 2 albums before this. Power metal is a good definition, as most power metal today is pop music with distorted guitar. As for doom metal, I have to laugh, what's doomy in this mid to fast paced song? Nothing. Musically and lyrically nothing is doomy here at all.
@ГеоргиПеев-й3ы
@ГеоргиПеев-й3ы 6 жыл бұрын
+Kalimdor199 The riffs at 1:54 and 3:54 and especially the riffs at 4:15 are definitely doom-y. Or at least they sound like stoner metal ones. At least. Downtuned, thick, heavy, slow-y. At this logic by "fast" then early Sirenia has nothing to do with doom but many of the reviewers say thay Morten had doom roots back then and in Wikipedia it's even classified as pure death-doom.

Lyrics speak volumes. I found hope in these lyrics. I almost ended my life 2 years ago and yet I fought through the suicide and found new life. To me these lyrics say yes we are broken yet we need to know we are much strong than you know sometimes it's about fighting to get to a new level in life and theres a lot to get through to get to that point. Thank you sirenia for this song

You are not alone. I also suffer from major depressions. Music helped me alot to get through a lot. And to be fair, from suicide i was saved by surge of a manic phase. Which led to me drowning all my money in booze. Songs like this reming me that even though I am broken, I am not done yet.

Okay peeps relax, I did not come to the comments to hear how different sirenia is or how commercial generic the sound is. I came to the comment section looking for people who like this song and had awesome things to say. To me the sound is still very Sirenia, it has that Sirenia signature that others band do not have. I have been listening to them since their album at sixes and seven and An Elixir for Existence. Every band evolve, get over it, but I love how Sirenia has evolved their sound yet still keeping that Sirenia vibe that they are known for. This song is great! Thank you Sirenia 🤘

It seems sirenia is still trying to figure out what they want to be. Instrumentally they are trying to sound like the first albums but it feels something more important has been lost. In a manica, on the wane, lithium and a lover... something that even after listening for the 100th time, still feels unique. Cannot say the same about this. I do not even remember one song of their previous two albums.

The single by Sirenia from their upcoming album. I've been waiting for this for 2 weeks... and it's worthed ut. The band is still the same - there isn't a core shift in their sound /at least that's the impression I remain with after hearing the song - and we shouldn't forget that the single from Dim Days of Dolor totally wasn't representative for the albu itself (and especially masterpieces like The 12th Hour and Goddess of the Sea). Purely musically-analitic impressions - the choir is present only that I feel its part comes a bit short and it isn't as epic/strong as usually. The chorus might be some kind of a bad thing for someone but so far, I'm neutral about it. The parts like the one at 0:40 leave me with a good impression. Another thing I notice is the fact that Sirenia are returning to the old good practise of having a bit more growl vocals. And the biggest plus for me is that I hear undeniable doom metal riffs at 2 places. If I had heard the 2016 single before the album, I would have said "Meh. Not Sirenia like the one with Ailyn". Now, hearing this, I say "Nice". In other words - this sounds optimistically.

When i heard the beginning of the song for the first time i though:” oh sh*t, Sirenia goes to Eurovision. “ Fortunately the rest of the song is better. Slightly. Still in love with Sister Nightfall.

I met the band in 2002 with the album At Sixes and Sevens and I loved the album! The following albums are also good, now this song is very out of context of the initial band ...

Perils of the deep blue and The Seventh Life Path are the closest they ever sounded to their original sound. I find Profound scars to be a perfect ode to their old days. Now, I'm not saying this song is bad at all, but I'd say it's kind of a mix between Perils and Dim Days of Dolor

+Jhulen Oscar Antezana Mendez The Seventh Life Path blended early-Sirenia with mid-Sirenia and added some more things like power metal elements. And this practise has been being continued with the stuff they do until now included (I hope it doesn't end).

this lady is very good at contemporary singing for someone who is an opera singer. Most of the girls in metal who are classically trained suck at other singing styles.

@@WithinTheShadows00 Yes but consider that the point of a label is to get the bands music out there, and the point of a video is to artistically compliment and promote a song... so I'd say it's bad either way because if the video sucks, to the point it's the first thing everyone starts talking about, it detracts from people noticing how good the music is while they're looking at some shitty stock footage of flames and glitter effects and well, that's not ideal for selling records, so really the label should take equal pride in both aspects.
