Guys, let's enjoy the band for what it is and not for what we want it to be. =) For those saying Morten has done nothing heavy for the last years, please listen to the full albums, not only the singles. Perils of the Deep Blue and The Seventh Life Path both had much more growls, longer and more complex songs that brought Sirenia back to its roots. I like how Sirenia waves between heavier and more melodic albums, that way we get more diversity. Anxiously waiting for the 26th! 🤘🏻

Well everybody is entitled to their opinion but at the same time if you're listening to a band in a specific genre of course it's gonna sound like other bands in the same genre. And it's ok if people don't like it but they shouldn't stick around and complain either. That said this band reminds me a bit of a band called Leaves Eyes. Which is a good thing because we actually don't have many bands like this

Funny how some people claim they sound like Nightwish. Back in the 90s Nightwish used to be called a "gothic" band becouse they had a female voice and a sound similar, somehow, to our beloved bands such as Tristania, later Sirenia, Theatre of tragedy, Within Temptation. Morten is a genius, he invented this kind of sound: orchestra, choirs, female voice, even the signature piano sound and arrangements. Sirenia is taking back what belongs to Mortem and even if I'd die for some old fashioned gothic metal (the riffs of a Shadow of your own self) with some growl in it, I enjoy every single album of Sirenia. Lacking of new ideas? I don't care, I'm happy to listen to Sirenia becouse I'm never disappointed. Love this song, btw.

Agreed. I like both bands, especially NW. Whilst they share many elements to their music, I don't think either really sounds like the other. Looking forward to the release of this album on Friday.

@alexsavchovsky72826 жыл бұрын
While I like NW as well as Sirenia, this just isn't what I expect of the latter. After the brilliant "An Elexier for Existence" and "At Sixes and Sevens" I simply don't find the same power and passion in the latter albums overall. Oh, there are very good songs, and some of them even have said power and passion, just overall the feeling is Sirenia has grown softer, much more generic. They picked up some in the later album with Aylin, but then this? I mean, sure, it's a nice song, but it's not the Sirenia I fell in love with.

Just that none of the never albums of Sirenia has been able to touch the level set by their first two ones. Although this song, particularly the second half, is pretty near.. But yeah, Morten is a genius. And much of the "gothic metal" has nothing really to do with that genre.. seems like only part of the people are susceptible for the spirit of goth (; for others it's just catchy melodies and weird songs.

I love this song! It usually takes me much time to fall in love with some Sirenia song but when it is true I can and need listening to that song several times in a row. It is also case of Into The Night. I quite miss Morten’s growls in this song but I think and believe that this version is not complete (official video for The Path To Decay was without growls as well). I can also imagine Emmanuelle to use her opera voice even in the end of this song. However I love it even without it. I have to state again as many times before and as many people stated that Morten Veland is a genius! His music needs time to be loved. His songs are not easy like some other (e.g. pop) songs you like on the first listening. It took me many years to find a way to the first two albums but especially An Elixir For Existence is my beloved album number one! I just love it for several years now and I listen to some songs from it every day. IMHO it is the best album ever composed. Just thank you Morten! I can not wait for the next songs...

The album seems promising!! 👌👍 This one is more "classic Sirenia", it's a good one. I have a preference for the originality of Love Like Cyanide though, it sounded really different with still some typical Sirenia moments. I hope the album can blend both styles ☺
@Kalimdor199Menegroth6 жыл бұрын
There is much more originality in this song compared to that horrendous pop song they previously released. What was so original about that bland, overtly-stale pop rhythm on which Love Like Cyanide was built on? Even this song partly sucks, as it is softer than what Sirenia played during the last 2 albums, when they finally got heavier and better after a very weak streak of albums.
@silasbraun6 жыл бұрын
@@Kalimdor199Menegroth Well, do you know the old Sirenia stuff too?
@AriaIsara6 жыл бұрын
Kalimdor199 It's not a pop song, it seems you're unable to _really hear_ the song besides its mainstream chorus. The chorus is pop. But the majority of the song is not. And it seems like you're too butthurt by the chorus to hear it. It's an original song because it's a mainstream chorus + power/sympho verses à la Avantasia + darker verses with black metal tones + typical gothic sympho part à la Sirenia. I like all the different influences put in one song. This single on the other hand is "safer".
@Kalimdor199Menegroth6 жыл бұрын
Power/sympho, these are terms mostly used for pop bands as of late. Tom Angelripper from Sodom has a saying, 80% of metal bands today play pop. And he is right. It is not just the chorus, the chorus is pop and cheesy at the same time. The entire melody is built upon a pop melody. Nothing original in that song. Pretty much every power or symphonic metal band has such a song nowadays. Black metal? Trololol. Gothic? Does this song, or the other one seems similar with how gothic metal is? In the vein of Tiamat, TON, early The Gathering, Paradise Lost, Tristania or even early Sirenia. Heck, the last 2 albums with Ailyn are more gothic than this song can ever be. This single is pop on a lower level than the previous one, thus it is more tolerable. That one reeked of shameless commercial pop, that sugary type that you hear in modern mainstream pop. @Silas Braun Yes, I own most of their albums. The first 4 albums, albums 6 and 7 as well.
@AriaIsara6 жыл бұрын
Kalimdor199 Listen, there are 2 very specific parts of the song that are clearly ifluenced by black metal. There's obvious gothic influence towards the end. It's really not hard to hear, but you're upset by the "pop" chorus and you only focus on that. Sad. You sound like these pretentious metalheads who hate "commercial songs" and who think most metal songs are "pop songs". That's fucking silly.
