Pre-Order "Riddles Ruins & Revelations" here: smarturl.it/Si...
Founded back in 2001 and after being active as a top-notch offering in the genre for almost 20 years, SIRENIA serve a new, exquisite pearl of symphonic metal: The four-piece around mastermind Morten Veland releases its tenth studio album, Riddles, Ruins & Revelations, on February 12, 2021 via Napalm Records!
Morten Veland about “Addiction No. 1”:
"This is our first single taken from the upcoming album. Musically I feel that this song really shows a modernised and new side of SIRENIA. I find the song very catchy, but heavy at the same time. Furthermore we have given the electronic elements a bigger role in this song. We hope you'll enjoy it!"
Veland on the album:
"Riddles, Ruins & Revelations is SIRENIA's tenth studio album. The album is very diverse, as a SIRENIA album should be. There's a lot of material that shows the band from a new side, and there is lots of material that is to be expected from the band musically. All in all the album will take the listeners through a journey that will cover both familiar and unexplored musical landscapes. We hope that you will enjoy the journey.”

Great song. I don't really know what people expect from the band in 2020. I usually see people in the comments writing the old classic ''I miss the first two albums' but now I also see people saying how they miss the 13th floor? Is this really a thing now? Because when that album was released everyone was complaining. I'm really glad this band is still making music. Can't wait for the new album.

I’m not sure why are some people complaining . I really like the new song ! Also , this is their signal which is meant to hook fans and new listen with a catchy melody and infectious but meaningful lyrics . One song isn’t nesscarily reflective of the whole album sonically and every band’s style is different

Some people simply want to complain. I've seen it happen since 9 Destinies and a Downfall. And while Sirenia hit a low point from 9 Destinies to their next 3 or 4 albums, they pulled out of it and are back to being great in a different way. Emmanuelle is a far better fit for this band though than Ailyn was for me.

I feel like many people in here are newer fans and not familiar with this sound, but this is something that they've done before with their first two albums, go try listening to "Lithium And A Lover" and you'll find similarities with this song. I think this is a good mixture between the old and the new. I'm really happy that they finally bring back their old sound from their first two album, but the main problem with this new material is that whoever mixed the audio for this album (Which is probably Morten himself), they fucked it up so badly that you can barely hear anything that clearly except for the vocals, which i find it pretty unusual for Sirenia to mess it up this bad because their albums have always been well-produced. Even if you try to find a high quality download of this, it'll be super compressed and normalized to the point where it's almost unlistenable. I'm looking forward for this new album anyway, but if the audio quality of the whole album is going to be crappy like this, i'd have to pass it. I just hope the CD version won't be crappy like this because if so i'd be so pissed off.

There's bands that have a signature sound and have been releasing albums since the 80s and keep it fresh with their signature style. Which isn't to say Sirenia can't do whatever they want. It's just that a lot of Sirenia's older songs "did" it for us, and we're chasing that feeling with all the new albums, but none deliver recently. I can go back and listen to sixes and sevens right now, which I am going to, and it is going to rock my world.

I get what you mean. But other bands like Paradise Lost have made albums in a quite different styles, most of them really good. So it's not that changing style is a problem in it self. It's just that this style is not very appealing to me. Fortunately taste in music is subjective:)

Reinventing and making bad music , both have different meanings . We don't hate bands Reinventing . We simply hate on them making bad music and when music quality becomes bad / generic and sellout. It's sad when a band that once was good becomes like this , generic. With all all the fillers( ohohohohohoh sound like in pop music ) in this song , you should probably guess that they are not good anymore. Even the lyrics is bad and uninspired. Anything that can rhythm. Even a child can write better lyrics . 🤷‍♀️

Many people want return to the sound of At Sixes and Sevens, some prefer growling others like more melodic albums like Nine Destinies and a Downfall, I think it is really hard to satisfy everybody after ninth albums. Edit: the mix could have surely been done better, the sound is very "muddy".

i'll take this electronic sound over the power metal tinged sound they had in arcane astral aeon any day :/ that said, sirenia (and a lot of bands in the symphonic/gothic genre) tend to pick the "catchiest" song for their singles and videos, cuz theyre meant to be the "bait" song. (except seven widows weep imo, that song is a beast) the rest of the songs in the album tend to be more complex/deep. hopefully thats the case for the next album too!

If anyone is disappointed in this song don't let it stop you from checking out the album. It is their best in my opinion. Some really heavy stuff on their and great producing. Don't know if they changed guitarists or what but I heard some sweep picked arpeggios in a solid shredding solo and was impressed (song: Beneath the midnight sun).

É pena ver bandas como Tristania, Sirenia, After Forever, The Sins of thy beloved, etc desaparecerem.

This is a great song to introduce this new album, the title promises too much, I hope it doesn't disappoint. Emmanuelle's voice is very clean, it is not the voice that we have heard with the lyrical timbre that characterizes her, I hope it is not lost in the other songs. A more modern sound, electronic but without losing the metal essence, it may well be the sequel to Arcane Astral Aeons. I liked this proposal from Sirenia and I am looking forward to the release of the album. 🤘🏼😎🎸🎻🎹🔊

This is a much stronger single than We Come to Ruins: the choir is great, very catchy, and easy to remember. The counterpoints the sirenian choir do in the choir are just perfect for a hook, very well done there. The verses are very in-style for a Sirenia single. I kinda like the lack of grunts, since I'm not into them at all, so for me, that's a great stylistic choice. The volume and mastering sound very good, in We Come to Ruins I don't feel that it was done as well as they did here. Emma sounds even more comfortable and confident with each release, she's great at what she does. The band sounds the same as always: kinda plastic, kinda electronic, not very prominent in any particular instrument besides the synths and the guitar, but that's just the sound of Sirenia. The lyrics are pure cheese, but that's the taste Sirenia loves to give to their lyrics. It's good, not genius good, but great for this band to have as a single. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album. Keep going, guys.
