GBA Rainbow Road is easily the most underrated in the series. It's super pretty, and nails the rainbow look perfectly. It's so fun making all the satisfyingly challenging boosts and jumps while listening to the great music! I still like the N64 (8 remake), Wii and 3DS versions more but the GBA one deserves a lot more credit than it gets.

Great Video Musty, love the editing on this one and your reasonings for your RR placements (even if I disagree a bit with some). It was very funny to watch the chat ruin your fun during prediction times. Now where is that MK Arcade GP Track Ranking?🧐(at least an OST ranking like your MK Tour ranking would be nice). Additional track specific comments: 1:02 I remember the era of the internet where the MK64 glazing was rampant (and MKDS glazing as well), it got real tiring seeing 64 being called one of the best over and over again when I could just tell that it was mid as hell, did not help that playing it eventually help prove that it was mid. Calling 64's RR the best? when it was six minutes long with almost no hazards and guard rails everywhere!?!? The people of the internet 10 years ago (jeez that makes me feel old) were very nostalgia pilled. 5:07 I may be a bit nostalgia pilled on this one but I believe D tier for DS RR is very harsh, but even with my nostalgia, B tier is as high as I will put it. 15:49 The only reason I dislike WiiU RR is because it is hell to play on in 200cc (specifically the opening S bend), otherwise I believe that it is generally over-hated simply for trying something different. I dig the space station aesthetic (does not save it from being my second least favourite RR in MK8DX, only beating out N64RR). 21:35 I understand why people love this version of N64 RR, but personally, it is my least favourite RR in MK8DX due to how easy it is (and how quick it finishes on 200cc, everyone would out run the train every-time). It has the spectacle, I will give it that, and the remix is, to quote Albert Boris, Kingly; the flying train is also funny (but there was a missed opportunity for the train to act as a hazard by crossing the track every now and then), and the track served as the perfect finale for pre DLC MK8. But I would not rank it above the other MK8DX RRs (except WiiU RR if my opinions change). 25:10 Personally MK8's SNES RR is an S tier for me, solely for being my favourite RR in MK8 pre BCP. Its fun, challenging (especially on 200cc), and I love the colours. But I can understand why it is A tier (as S tier is due to bias) 27:34 I don't have much experience with GBA RR (I am not nostalgia pilled for this one), but it has come to be one of my favourites due to how uniquely it plays from the rest. The crazy amount of jumps you can take is fun, the Rainbow Road itself is very aesthetically pleasing to me, and the music has become one of my favourite RR OSTs. This is the one RR that hover's between A and S tiers for me, as I don't believe it makes S tier but is way better than the A tier. 34:38 YEAH WII RR is #1 LETS GOOOOOOO, DOWN WITH 3DS RR (JK I like 3DS RR but Wii RR is way better). Wii RR remains my favourite RR in the entire series (even ignoring my MKWii nostalgia). However, I personally would put both OG Wii RR and the BCP version next to each other on the tier list due to how close they are, as I view both versions very highly.

One of my favorite things about wii rainbow road is just how unpredictable it can be. I've been playing the game most of my life, but it can STILL get the best of me sometimes. Either you stay on the track the entire race, or you fall off twelve times. There's no in between.

Upon playing Super Mario Kart and actually learning its control scheme, I've changed my opinion on SNES Rainbow Road, I think for a finale to a game like Super it's a nice change of pace while also being quite compelling, and while yes it is insanely difficult, that's kind of the point so I can't really fault it for that. Overall really solid start to the track archetype. I still think the remakes are mid tho muhuhahaha 😈

There's cool stuff in the sky and the big jump shortcut and and and". Boy, do I love me some BCP 7 RR slander. To elaborate, I still think that Rainbow Road is a good track and anyone who ranks it along with the OG is entirely fair. It's just that everything about that track just irks if even a little to where it piles up enough for me to not consider them in the same tier. I acknowledge that the moon not being bright and the rainbow not being as good and the remix just not hitting nearly as hard as the original for me (although I do respect them for trying something that deviates from the original) are all minor complaints and that it is basically the same track as 7's but somewhat wider, but I think about it like this. I think Wii RR is better than its BCP remake but I have no problems playing either version. I think 7 RR is better than its BCP remake and would actively rather play it because it feels like the remake took what is so close to being my favorite Rainbow Road that it and Wii might as well be tied and restricted some of its charm and majesty to where it's still very enjoyable but not in the upper echelon like it was back in 7.

I still think BCP 7 RR is amazing, but I admit that the charm has kinda worn off from the original version. I always thought of it like this: Nintendo made the original 3DS rainbow road because they wanted to make an incredible memorable track to end off their game. Meanwhile, Nintendo brought back 3DS rainbow road for the booster course pass because it's 3DS rainbow road. BCP 7 RR feels less special to me, since it feels like they brought it back solely becuase it's a fan favourite pick, rather than bringing it back to make the overall track selection more special. That's at least what I think, anyway.

great video! honestly, while i also love og wii rr, the remake just clears it so hard in my opinion, just because i feel like it does a much better job at balancing the difficulty with the spectacle. with the original, it leans so much into the difficulty that (at least for me personally) it's much harder for me to appreciate the design of the track itself, and i'm not quite as fond of it as a result. probably just a proficiency deficiency on my part but i've always just loved how 8 modernized it and still made it tricky yet still manageable enough to the point where i was able to appreciate how much love went into the design of the track. plus i just love 8's engine and music way more so honestly i feel like i agree the points that you gave for each iteration, it's just my opinions are swapped the opposite way on them lol

Gamers, I don't care if this is gaming blasphemy, but: SNES Rainbow Road is putrid in 8dx specifically and my 3rd least favourite track in the game. The Thwomps are interesting I suppose, but I hate that you can trick only trick for like 3cm (or like 1.3ish inches for you American swine) behind the Thwomps, and it's a super spammy track and if you get hit once you will get hit 39 more times and you will not be able to comeback. The layout is, to use the technical term, ✨ shit ✨, and adding 5 ramps does not constitute an adequate update. One of those ramps actually kinda defeats the purpose of the second last Thwomps by allowing you to skip them. The music is second only to Mute City on the scale of "making my ears want to rip themselves off my head and jump into soup that will be fed to my vegetarian sister" (trademark). I genuinely cannot find a single positive about this track.

Great video on All the rainbow road. I have few things to say. 1. I do agree about your GCN Rainbow Road. Since the music and the vibe is vwry Memorable. Bur racing wise is not. I was forgiving and putting in B due to the contorl in Double Dash make up for it to make the track a little harder. 2. The Og Snes Rainbow Roadis personally one of the best Rainbow when it comes to racing and music wise. It truly one the best final challlenge in all gaming. When it comes to music it the 2nd best ost in all of Mario Kart or maybe the best one in the entire sereis. 3. I thunk 3ds rainbow road is reallh good but it really a burden to get their since the 3 track before it is bad and are my bottom 3 Mario Kart 7 nitro track(DK Jungle, Rosalina Ice World, and Bowser Castle).So playing 3ds Rainbow is worth it. I am a Tour fan, but thank God you did not pull the "original" Rainbow Roads from there. Those tracks just have the SNES Rainbow Road skin and that's it. The core idea of Rainbow Road is a final challenge track; those RMX tracks are the definition of bland.

It’s been a hot take I’ve had for the longest time but 7s rainbow road seems extremely overhyped, it’s good but most people call it the best rainbow road if not the best track ever which I heavily disagree with, I really feel like the thrill ride and overall challenge isn’t usually there when I play 7, compared to every other rainbow road I’ve played (expect gba snes & the og n64 those suck) I always prefer others over it since I don’t get much out of 7s (though it’s better than 8’s rainbow road) I mean Wii rainbow road is right there, I may not have played the original but 8 deluxe kept almost everything in tact and I had an absolute blast on it, I’m just in awe at the scope of Wiis rainbow road, it’s visuals, and don’t get me started in the music, Wii has the best music track for any rainbow road the original and the 8 deluxe remake are perfect 10/10 music tracks I hope to play Wii in full and fully get a sense of the scope of it

This is a cool list, but I do feel 3DS Rainbow Road it the most overrated one in the series (I really do not like 1 lap maps, they leave me feeling unsatisfied as I was unable to connect with it, despite all it's attempts to appeal to some sensational degree that I find off-putting (It was trying way too Hard IMO, to cram in so much that it in the end comes across as losing the appeal for simplicity that I like in RR). RR 3DS is for me D tier because of this. Wii RR is absolutely legendary though and I am soo happy to see it do well. But I've got to big you up on Super Circuit's Rainbow road, that one is beautiful, the music is not a remix of N64 (it borrows one thing from SNES) and is the most original. In fact GBA RR's music sounds like it was the actual blueprint for almost the entire Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack which is why it is a legendary map. That isn't mentioning the Paper Mario reference and the epic guardrail shortcuts. (I LOVE THAT YOU MENTIONED Superstar Saga and Finding Nemo, that is soo nostalgic).
