To be honest I was happy to hear Albert Boris say that Mario Kart 7 is he's favorite game in the series. For me Mario Kart 7 is my 2nd favorite game in the series with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at 1st and Mario Kart Wii at 3rd. Also Albert Boris is wrong about putting DS Waluigi Pinball and DS Airship Fortress just because they has zero shortcuts. Shortcuts is fun to do sure don't get me wrong, but just because a course doesn't have one doesn't mean is a bad course. These two is S tiers for sure. Anyway happy birthday Sir Musty!

7:16 And I thought your reaction getting verbally slapped by the crab man on GBA Rainbow Road couldn't be topped. One of the worst times for me to drink water during the stream. I don't even play DK games and you made feel offended by proxy (I'll get around to Tropical Freeze at some point). On a more serious note, I do agree with the shortcut take. Before when I may not have played anything before DS but even then the stuff you can pull off in 7 and 8 shortcut wise doesn't really warrant a track having one of the negatives be "no shortcuts". Taking a sharper turn with a mushroom is fun but not a spike in quality. Edit: Almost forgot, Metroid Prime 4 is a fever dream we all had during a Direct. It's not coming out, you cannot convince me.

Regarding the critique on DK Country Returns "relying too much on references", people often forget that DKCR was the biggest return to formula for donkey kong. After DKC3 and Rare's departure from Nintendo, the DK series got ignored by Nintendo for the longest time, and relegated to weird Bongo spinoffs, Clu clu land looking puzzle platformers and whatever the heck barrel blast was supposed to be. With country returns being.... a return and a overall homage to the older country games, it is kinda obvious that they are gonna reuse most of the classic motifs to scream about this comeback...... and as Musty said before, they don't just copy paste them, but reimagine all of them in favor of a different vibe.... not to mention that they got some great original settings and tracks that are unique to Country returns. My major critique with Country returns specifically is the fact that... they don't even go that much in debt with the references of older titles: Rambi is the only animal buddy back (my man Squawks is sleeping on the job), most of the kongs are nowhere to be found, and K rool is not even mentioned in favor of mf Tiki Tong. SO in that case it goes to show how Retro wanted to do their thing, rather than just rely on the biggest hits of the past. I can see Country Returns being the "weaker" of the 5 DKC games, but not at all unpleasant or just mediocre. .... That sad Dk Jungle as a MK track stink, should have made a level based on the level where the spiders chase you and insta kill you. Awesome video and editing to both Albert and Mr. Mustard though. Keep up the great work.

while DKC Returns was literally quite that - a return of the long dormant Donkey Kong Country series, its a bit of context that was always bound to get lost by the passage of time. The fans of the time like myself were just happy the series wasn't dead and any sort of re-tread was masked in the excitement of a series once lost being revived but any new fan, playing the games within a short time of one another today, might feel like Returns is just 1 with a new set of graphics with some of the call backs Having binged the whole series again just last year, i can confidently say that's not the case but i dont necessarily blame Albert for coming to that conclusion, y'know?

the fact that Albert, a very small nintendo youtuber, managed to get a nearly 2 million subscriber yt channel like Schaffrilas on her channel makes me so proud. I can already tell that Albert will be a huge, mainstream nintendo youtuber, like a new age Nathaniel Bandy in a sense. The fact that Albert doesn't even have 10 thousand is insane to me.

Seeing SNES Rainbow Road, Waluigi Pinball and Dk Jungle in C tier made me rethink my life choices. Never understood why some people dislike Dk Jungle in Mk7 or Mk8 when it’s one of the better Jungle theme courses in the series and it doesn’t do a bad job at representing Donkey Kong Country Returns and driving around the Great Banana with the anti Gravity sections is one of my favorite parts about the course. The music slaps too

Waluigi Pinball in 7 is the only version that I actually like. I always liked the concept, but they could have done so much more with it. There was also a beta design of the track, which looked quite interesting. (And cringe that Waluigi Pinball is in the game, but not Waluigi) If water and lava can be combined in Bowser's Castle, then the logic in Koopa Cape could also have failed. Was probably the main reason why these electric parts were no longer there. Boston Building is too overrated. One of the better DS tracks among the majority of medium and bad DS tracks. (Yeah, this game only exists in your nostalgic thoughts) But as a MKDS hater, I guess I just have to accept this opinion. I really wonder if they can ever top 7's Rainbow Road in terms of aesthetics and feel. The next level must be the solar system or the milky way. I'm looking forward to playing in MK12 in another dimension or in a black hole. And another very very important opinion on 7 at the end. Wiggler should never have returned and should have died out with the Honey Queen in 7.
