The model actually originated in a 1969 book by Kenneth Blanchard and Paul Hersey. Blanchard then includes it in some of his later books.

@@theChrisCroft I tend to attempt to learn a theoretical concept, such as situational leadership, by proceeding through its evolution. This allows me to flow with the theoretician through the thinking process they went through. So I appreciate the complexity to simplicity process that often occurs, but I know that's not for everyone :)
