I have written the competencies required for the job I expect to be promoted to within about a year (formally with HR). Easy to procrastinate. But hey! I am 60! I still have things I want to achieve!

it's great to have things you want to achieve - a person is never too old for that!

Whoever said "hard work" gets you somewhere, has dung for brains. What world does he live in???? Looking at mother in her coffin, she left with nothing...and I seem to be following in her footsteps. All I have after close to 60 years of hard work is a broken body, an assassinated character, isolating lies and rumors, surrounded by a collective of toxic people. Now I use profanity after 57 years of not using profanity, I renounced my Christianity. All of his advice has been applied. He's missing the reality of people who have goals to keep you where you are because they can't find a replacement. Too much to write, but I am told I am being "quiet fired". It's job security, not financial security. You don't get raises based on meritocracy, but based on whim. I am only one in my position, and only black MAN in workplace there by purposely mischaracterizing me as every stereotypical boogieman that everyone avoids, and or is afraid of, with other blacks taking lead in killing your image. I' m sure you are saying to yourself, "he's one of them".

Thanks for supplying a brilliant illustration of the negative loop I describe in my video. You get what you expect to get. I would love to help you out of the loop. That's why I made this video!

@@theChrisCroftholy shit!! You are so immensely off it centers on delusion. Delusional is actually a gross understatement and you are hardwired into believing this crap. This model you propose is an outdated cliche of behavioral cause and effect that is weaponized by HR to control workers. There is a excellent video by an employment lawyer called: " HR is NOT your friend" that is on point. My company is in middle of trying to figure out how to explain how a guy who is obviously their hardest and best worker is disgruntled despite raises and workload reduction. How do they cover up the toxicity pointed out by said worker? Your model cannot work for me. It proposes there can be no deviation from certain mindsets and that each and all mindsets have the same formulaic path and end result. This dangerous assumption is going to cause more workplace shootings. It's as sure as death and taxes.

Excellent video. What we tell ourselves eventually manifests into reality because our emotions and actions make sure that they are congruent with what is in our mind (self talk). Indeed body is an instrument of mind.

I'm really so happy i found your talks on Linked in a few months ago and they led me here. I have been struggling with an over-bearing, rude, unhygienic and abusive micromanager of a coworker the last month, and it stresses me out because mgmt refuses todo anything other than threaten me and tell me to find somewhere else to work or put up with it. I have been struggling to change my mindset from "this sucks, i dont want be here but I can't leave, wtf am I gonna do, she is so awful wth am I gonna do why won't anyone help me when it's obvious no one likes her?' to "what can I do for me? Who am I really working for? ME! Whose life is impacted by my behavior? mine. Whose life is really impacted by her behavior and abusiveness? HERS!" and recognizing that i have skills and confidence to find a new job once I prove I'm worth a good recommendation. Your lessons on Linked In gave me confidence to get my foot in the door at my company, and this lesson really helps me refocus on my goals not let their behavior affect me as much. I'm hoping things improve, but thanks to you I feel like I can handle it regardless.

I really worked hard for the first two years at the office where I am now. I raised my voice to tackle problems. One day, my boss decided to replace me with a new worker out of nowhere without any explanation. I was shocked because I was always believing in the fact that hard work never betrays me. Now I know it is not always true. People might find reasons in me that put me into that misery, but suppose it wasn't me and I fear I could be dumped by the office any time. How can I find a reason to work hard and not to think a job is only for money? These days I am confused about working hard and came across your video. I hope you would have an answer :) Thank you for your nice video!!!

you worked hard and had an unfair bad experience - but the key is not to let that experience contaminate your next job, because if you start off with a bad attitude then it probably will! And then you'll be stuck in a vicious circle. So you have to let it go (hard I know) - forget that bad person and bad place and start again, afresh, with an attitude of hope.
