Nole has the skills and experience to play at the highest level, definitely on par with Jannik and Carlos (or rather, they’re at Nole’s level!). But the reality is that his game isn't going to improve anymore, and he'll increasingly face minor or major injuries, lack of motivation, or off days... it’s inevitable. He’ll still have his moments of brilliance, but there’s a big gap between dominating an entire season and just winning a few big matches or tournaments

His age will matter, big time. People do not realize still the drop between 37-40 is way steeper than 33-36. And why are we talking hypotheticals here: he broke down physically at the FO this year and how is this year going in total? Proof is already there.

@@fwvw7056I think people need to realise that Djokovic will find it difficult to compete with Sinner and Alcaraz if they have a good day, I think this will be more apparent next year. It took a poor 2nd set by sinner just to make it somewhat interesting towards the end yet Novak still couldn’t pull through in the end.

This always happens when the passing of the torch happens, everyone is just in denial until it becomes reality. Joker can definitely have some chances just like roger when he won the AO but it's going to be pretty unlikely now. Give the young ones their respect, they've pretty much dominated this year and if Joker wins that'll be a great story but we can't be lying to ourselves and saying this old man is going to win. He's the GOAT but everyone has their time and for him it's soon, hopefully he's got a few more years but I feel like it'll be 2 years if he's lucky.

Big respect for a sane and objective view. Most commenters are either pro Djokovic or pro Sinner or pro Alcaraz or pro Nadal or pro Federer to a biased degree. I think Djokovic has one or two more grand slam wins in him if he keeps healthy and is given an easy draw and avoids Sinner and Alcaraz to the semi finals and finals. He is still top 3 player and ahead of the young chasing pack.
@SkySushii
@SkySushii Ай бұрын
I give Djokovic a good chance to grab one last AO and get to 25, for the other slams there's too many other threats (French is difficult, can't see him beating Alcaraz at Wimby) so the draw and everything else would all have to go his way. But this legend has proven us wrong many times before...
@marconardelli5538

It is incredible that for many many years, not a single new generation player was able to compete against the big 3 and now all of a sudden we have not 1 but 2 players that are on the route to play at big 3 levels, think about it, I think Djokovic is defintely capable of winning another slam, he's winning against anyone but Sinner and Alcaraz, if this two weren't there he would have probably won another 5 or 6 slams, he's still crazy good and this 2 guys are competing with him and now most of the time winning against him, so yeah, I agree that we have to respect this 2 guys, and big respect for Djokovic too, everytime they meet each other it is always a pleasure to watch

Nick won’t comment on Rafa, but I will: I am a big fan of Rafa and it was great to see him on a tennis court again, but he is completely overmatched against these guys at this point. His movement is gone. Carlos took it easy on him as he did not want to embarrass him and it still was 3 and 3. There were at least 10 points where Carlos could have used his drop shot, but didn’t and hit it right back at Rafa. If Novak goes 100% it will be ugly. I hope,Rafa does not play singles at Davis Cup, but only doubles with Carlos as unfortunately he can’t compete with the top,guys especially on indoor hard courts which were never his strength even in his prime.

@@fwvw7056Djokovic lost motivation after winning almost everything in 2023. He won the slam race in 2023, he won 3 slams, played 4 gs finals, won masters tournament and ATP final where he dominated both Alcaraz and Sinner. Media was pushing narrative that Djokovic is done and that Alcaraz is a new champion. It motivated Novak to prove them wrong. After beating Carlos in Roland Garros, Djokovic lost to Carlos in Wimbledon final for the first time in 7 years (162-160 points very even 5 setter). Than Djokovic won Cinncinatti masters by beating Carlos in final, he dominated him again in ATP final. Djokovic also destroyed Sinner in ATP finals final. Djokovic also beat Sinner in 2022 and 2023 Wimbledon finals. It was one of the best years in tennis history. Djokovic’s 2011 was crazy with 41-0 winning streak, 2016 was crazy with 16950 atp points but 2023 was in my opinion on very same level. Djokovic has family now and it took a lot of sacrifice to produce 2023 year. Calling Sinner and Alcaraz better than he ever was really pissed him off. So he decided to prove himself that he is still the best. He did it in 2023. so I knew that in 2024 it will be all about Olympics, because it was the only puzzle that he missed. Losing few times against Sinner will only help Djokovic to get motivated for 2025. I hope that he will not atp finals, because it will make him for hard for AO 2025. If he win 100th tournament atp atp finals and beat both Alcaraz and Sinner Djokovic will completely lose motivation

He will still lose to sinner no doubt but he just needs to win the important matches/ finals and this match proved he can. Its been a weird year for medvedev. Feels like he still hasn't regained his best tennis but we need him. He is in the realm of sinner / alcaraz in my opinion but lacking that edge. Maybe he needs a confidence boost but i hope he can play his best in 2025

Novak return is becoming mediocre. :( though the rest are still on point. Some unforced errors are coming quite often. But its fine considering the number of games he played this year. Hope novak can find his return game again soon before nitto atp finals.

Dude, 2028 it's a long, long way ahead. I don't think he's staying more than 1 year maybe 2026. Him playing in 20028 seems very wishful thinking. What would be the point of that? The truth here is that Sinner's stamina lacked in the second set, or he would have closed it way sooner and the picture of the match would have been way different.

Djokovic is getting older, every week, every month. And he feels it. He won't play again in 2028 and if he does, he won't win anything big. Promised. Sinner, Sinner played the longest as the winner of the last tournament! Had to travel and was tired. In addition, there is the sword of Damocles of the possible suspension, which he has to constantly get out of his head. The boy is currently above all other players. And even with a small bout of weakness, he beats Djokovic. That's a fact. greets BM

Djokovic will finish at 2028 or 2030, depending on his motivation, because he is still on his physical peak. I think Novak has the motivation to go for the 30 slams, and then retire. Nole can win 1-3 slams for the next years and achieve it. IDEMO NOLE.

He managed to break Jannik after 7 sets twice in 2sets and lost his serve 3times. How that should put him in the position of winning against Sinner I really can't understand. I mean, he ain't getting better, but on the contrary, his health will get worse. His level of practice is definitely not the same when he was younger. How can he play untill 2028 is just a big "what?"

What a naive commentary. Joker had BP this time only because Sinner served very poorly and made some poor errors. If Sinner had played his best, he would have closed it out in 2 sets. Sinner was clearly tired. Joker himself admitted that he got lucky in the TB to win it so easily. Also Joker lost to Popryn, Macha, so he can lose to other players as well. It depends on the day. And Alcaraz has stepped it up and he's going to be more consistent which will make Joker's life only more miserable. And if Joker has to face one of them in Semis and one of them in finals, then there's no way he's winning it. Not sure how draws work. He's been lucky this year with the draws also. Lets wait and watch for 2025. My prediction is, Joker will most likely not win another slam.

Nadal played one match lost 6-3 6-3 took away £1.5 million okay he has a third place play off. The players eg Alcaraz complained about the schedule through the year then they play the Kings! Djokovic doesn’t play loads of tournaments so why not set your own schedule like he does.

It is funny, that all these players are claiming a too full ATP-plan to play all the year and that this is responsible to all the injuries, because of no time to regeneration.... but all are following the money, although they all are multi-million $$$ heavy, what a hypocracy. And the players of ATP 150-1000 are all suffering and don´t know how to finance their livings...Much more impressive is, that Stan the Man still beating Top Players and now reached 1/4 finals in Stockholm. Normally, he often wins the first set and then lose in a 3 setter, because lack of physical power...

I think you are a bit biased in favour of Djokovic. He is still very good and physically he is also good. But we can't say he's physically the same as he was 10 years ago. Even in 2023 where he won 3 slams, I felt like Djokovic already was declining physically. But mentally and tactically he was at his best in 2023. He will never beat both Sinner and Alcaraz in the same slam as he must do next year with the new rankings. Physically he will not be capable to play at this level for that many sets.
@HeavyTopspin

You're making an assumption that nobody else is capable of beating Sinner and Alcaraz so he'd be guaranteed to play them in the semis and finals. Yes, they are the two best, but there are other players out there who are capable of beating them on a good day.

All sports show the same thing with aging...even if you're 'fit enough' to go, as you age, you become more erratic. Your floor is lower. You may reach your A game...but you reach it less often. Add in tennis the whole 2 weeks of best of 5 for mens in the slams...and let's get real...Novak isn't raising another trophy. 24 is enough lol.

Look, I like Novak and I have no issues with all tennis greats, past and present. but saying that aging doesn't take its toll eventually is just one big denial. Yes, Novak's health is not yet shot like Nadal's given that he is very careful of his diet and not wanting an untested jab that affected the heart and blood of other athletes despite the nothing to see here attitude of the MSM and the so-called health experts and government officials. But mark my words, his body is aging and not because he is still playing good tennis, his body is the same as when he was at his prime. Let us just respect the fighting spirit of Novak as long as he is willing to play and we will have to face the inevitability of his future retirement. By that time, Novak will be surely missed.
@whatevergoesforme5129
@whatevergoesforme5129 Ай бұрын
Oh and the fact that Novak can still go against top players so much younger than he is is a testament of how great he is at his age now, win or lose. Let us see if Sinner and Alcaraz can do the same when they reach Novak's age now. That is why I factor in the age of each player because for me aging is not just a number.
