I'm not sure about Ireland, as someone of French ancestry, I think they are playing better than they ever have, but maybe France aren't as good as we thought, and maybe Italy not scoring a single point against them was an anomaly, I don't think that was the case, I think Ireland are a hell of a side, but let's see.

@jlm4455
@jlm4455 2 ай бұрын
The problem with that system? England do not have the players the Boks do. That is why that system is so successful for the Boks. At every level of that blitz defense? Boks have world class players. Back row, wingers, centers and a brilliant defensive 9 (Faf). From Kolbe shutting down access to wider channels to PSDT sending attacks bundling backwards. Boks have the talent & skill to execute a high, high risk system. England do not.

@@joeboonmusic4004you beat 1 tier 1 rugby nation in the World Cup, you got to the semi final because of a skewed draw that took place 3 and a half years before the competition. Strange a lot of pundits said England would continue to dine out on reaching the semi final and I can see that here. England haven’t beaten a team above them in the world rankings since 2021 but Andy Farrell and his team have beaten every team above and below them and are still on to win rugbys richest prize for two years running , dont drag the Irish down with the English its just pathetic…
@bm8725

@@joeboonmusic4004 Yeah I'm really not sure why people are so happy about the RWC tbh. Yes they did better than expected, but laboured through matches in the easier side of the draw. A decent strategy pushed the boks to the wire but ultimately we lost for the same reason as in 2019 i.e. no scrummaging depth, except this time it was in the SF instead of the final. That so many England fans were happy about that shows the complete lack of any ambition in the English rugby community imho.
@joeboonmusic4004

@@davidwalker2402 Way to miss my point entirely, bravo. I'm not dragging anybody down ffs, don't be so delicate. I'm saying that Farrell didn't get everything instantly clicking WHEN HE STARTED COACHING THEM. They were average to begin with. After 2 YEARS things started turning into something special and now we have, unarguably, the best team in the NH. People moan about the draw but they played what was in front of them. In 2019 they had to beat Aus (when they were good), NZ and then SA on the trot. Also 'rugby's richest prize'... I think you'll find that's the WC, something Ireland haven't come within 3 rounds of winning. Admit it, man, you just don't like England. No one is 'dining out' on England reaching the semis (although it's funny that, yet again, they got further than everyone else whilst everyone else moans about the draw). We got there after changing coaches one tournament before the WC. That's why I'm saying credit is deserved.

You are after all dining out on it. Read your own post and perhaps watch your own team. I have always admired good English players. At the moment I can’t see any starting for France or Ireland and only 3 or 4 for Scotland. Time to try and bring through the young talent. Care, Ford,Slade, Tuilagi all past their best. No front row. Good players 5 to 8 but without Lawes no world class.

Scotland by 10 (I wish!!!). Fin and co blow the press defense apart with excellence of handling and our forwards blast the English pack off the field. England don’t have it in them to come back from more than 10 points in arrears as they’ve got no positive offensive plan to go with. The days of Ingurrland physically dominating are pretty much over thanks to professional and cross-border tournaments. Having said that, England are due a result this time round but I’m also pretty sure that Roots will get sent off for taking Russell out late and high.

I don't think Wales have more potential... at all. England are slowly but surely bringing in plenty of youngsters and teams like Northampton and Bath are performing on the biggest stages. @@user-lm2wz5qf5o That's just not how it works. With the personnel on offer, they need a balance of experience and youth. Just look at the most recent great SA and NZ squads - a balanced side built around younger players and experienced heads. Cole is still one of the best scrummagers in the country, George is a great old-school hooker and captain, Itoje (though not old) is getting back to his best. Plus, having players like Ford, Daly and Slade in the squad gives you cool heads in moments of hardship, that can win games. You can't just throw everyone in because they're young and promising... not only because it would fail miserably but because that would be terrible for those young players' mentality.

I saw improvements in our overall play today, however, the handling and unforced errors were in in unbearable l tipi goes by Lawrence throwing the ball out of play. There are still better players to come into this team but some of the attack tactics are infuriating. When something doesn’t work, stop doing it aka kicking the ball but not into touch, the Scot’s were lapping it up. Also how easy we implode momentum is infuriating. Team I’d like to see versus Ireland: Baxter, George, Cole Coles, Martin Pearson, Barbeary, Earl Spencer, F Smith Steward, Freeman Roebuck, Furbank, Feyi-Waboso Bench: Marler, Dan, Heyes, Chessum, CCS, Quirke, M Smith, Murley

Simple answer is the most obvious one with Ireland. It's got little to do with having fewer teams or minutes. Scotland and Italy have all that and its pretty negligible. Ireland or Leinster just have a level of player post 2010 that's like nothing Ireland has seen before and each generation is building on the last and better than the last. Each Ireland U20 team is generally better than the last for the last 6 years, running, and the level of player they're turning out is getting better and more frequent. every year, a Keenan, like 2021 or Doris in 2022 or Sheehan in 2023 or McCarthy in 2024, pushes through. Most likely someone will break through in 2025 as well. That's ultimately the difference. You hand them players to Italy Wales England or Scotland they go up a level regardless of how they ise them or what system they're in.

I have been a big believer in result over performance, Italy play some excellent rugby and everyone says they are getting better but always lose. Yes people remember performance but history books remember results! I think this is a new set up, yes borthwick has had the helm for a while but he had to think of the World Cup and be conservative. People would of absolutely destroyed him if we didn’t get out of the group stages, also going back about performance over result, we did not light the world up in the WC but if we beat SA, World Cup final plying that style of rugby and who knows, would people then say I wish we played better rugby and lost. NO. I think we have 4 years to try things, v Wales I thought we had a plan to really go at them and 2 yellow cards changed that. Result over performance for me! I could rant all day but I always feel like we are half glass empty.

Tins, Scotland lost the game against France. Tries can go for or against you in tight situations, that is why teams should kill off games they're bossing. If that was the only bad ref call that denied a try or benefitted the other team fair enough. It wasn't. In lead up to French winning try? Berry blew it and should be held to account for doing so.

The best teams are usually capable of winning ugly games. Fantastic performances but losing a game, ultimately means very little. Especially when you're talking about a championship or world cup. Scotland are not one of those, they can play some of the nicest rugby to watch, but when things are gritty, no open play for tries, Dupont law kicking battles... They struggle. England have always had the ability to win almost game after game and neutrals wonder how. But, regardless of the last 2 games for Scotland, the did beat Wales and ... As Tinds says, they did beat France - albeit the try denied. So I think they'll be favourites at Murrayfield.

18:03 Er, no Haskell, that is not how you are supposed to play rugby. That is how you endanger players and get yellow and red cards - something your English players are actually very good at.

I'm sorry but Scotland DIDN'T beat France. If there isn't sufficient evidence that the try is scored then it's no try. For all we know there could have been a hand under that ball. It might be a crap law but it is the law- I'm an England fan and if it happened to England, I'd say the same thing! Take points when they're on offer and find other/better ways of scoring tries rather than trying to rumble over from 5 metres against a massive French pack! 🤷‍♂

Gotta disagree with Tinds about winning versus performance - it doesn't matter how you win, as long as you win. With each win the team will grow in confidence and their opponents' fear will increase. I obviously want to see England play a more expansive and imaginative style of rugby but ultimately the game is about winning.

What an incredibly biased panel who can’t see or admit decent rugby and genuinely think England are gonna beat Scotland. Given that Scotland were robbed in the France game and being home to fortress Murrayfield, there’ll be a fire in the Scots. Classic English bias where they beat the 2 lowest teams in the championship and think they’re on for the Grand Slam

@@Simwil33not quite sure you are right. He called the grounding then bottled it as the ref was about to award the try. Unfortunately human error. If he had not clearly called the grounding you would be correct.

@@MACCA0405my interpretation is the ref said no try on the field so then the TMO must provide clear evidence to award the try. There wasn't clear enough evidence that the ball was over the line and that is why it wasn't awarded.

@@Simwil33 agree and understand fully. If however you stand back and look at it , it was clear. TMO called a grounding. Didn’t qualify till he realised it was on him and he bottled it Always will be bad decisions but it is important they are recognised as such If rugby is to grow it cannot with the present rules, present persons in World Rugby and some refs. For instance was it o knock on by Ntamack from Russell’s kick? It was and led the the try- he didn’t go back to look at it. Same with VDM tackle and possible offside. Tualagi one Neck Roll and a possible punch. What are the officials watching. Rant over.
