ok for any dudes who care, here's the deal with the suit thing-- you can dress nicely without looking like you're actually in a different category of eg casual, business casual, black tie, white tie, etc. than the situation calls for. don't go above business casual for a casual setting (unless this is TRULY yr personal hobby and yr ok being eccentric). FIT is the most important thing. a well-fitting T shirt is a million times more flattering than an ill-fitting suit. if he took off his bow tie and white shirt and vest, and wore a dressy T-shirt with that jacket, that would be good.

Regarding the lawyer story. The way he tells the story makes it seem like women don't want to be the bread winner but I don't think he's giving a full picture here. If she's working 80 hours a weeks that's because she wants to. Nobody is forcing her to work that much. Also if she's a lawyer working that much she easily making a 6 figure salary. At that point it's not really necessary for there to be two working people in a household and so the husband probably opted to be the stay at home husband and taking on domestic duties. A lot of couples have this dynamic. If she hated him its probably because he's not been taking care of the house like he said he would, I doubt its because he didn't have a job if this is what they both signed up for.
