Because in a relationship, as working adults, eating is going to be one of the few shared bonding experiences you can have with your loved one. I don't think a lot of the time it's really the guy themselves having an issue with it, ultimately women are known for being "ok" with something, til they aren't. All the guy is thinking is "I'm the cute short guy to her NOW, but wait til she sees someone her size and good looking.". That may be an insecure thing, however women tend to operate with the "grass is greener on the other side" mentality. High dating standards are usually a way for people who are scared of commitment to stay single. When you really like someone, those sort of unobtainable standards go away. Plenty of times I had friends tell me my standards were too high (just because I didn't want to date anyone, but I think that should be normalized for people anyways) but when I met my one, I met my one. I still wake up wondering how I met the perfect match, and my mom says it's thanks to me being patient and not just settling for someone who I didn't have chemistry with.

Honestly nowadays I’m surprised to see people wanting kids as a dating preference. Don’t really care, but just hearing all of my peers scream about how unfair it is that the older people in their lives are barraging them with questions about when they’re gonna add another child to the roster of the family. Not to say that all older people are like that, and that my peers receiving the barrage of questions feelings of the situation aren’t valid. Just find it surprising it’s still a thing younger people want.
