Today Caitlyn & I are trying on items from thrifted mystery bundles!!! This was such a fun style challenge - I would LOVE to do this again, but try to alter some items myself! I'm going to start to learn how to sew, and I can't wait to have a second try at altering thrifted clothing. I love the idea of upcycling items that might not look so great, and turning them into something more suitable for your own body shape. Let me know which bundle you thought was best!

The try-on part was SO CUTE! And that food looked SO delicious! Lula Roe basically brainwashes people into spending all of their money to fill their garages up with stock that they can't sell, because it's usually poorly made, and sometimes the stock arrives molded and stained, but the company won't reimburse/refund the sellers for damaged stock they received (from what I've heard). MLMs are awful and predatory, and something like 94% of people lose money in them. It probably was a case of someone finally realizing they got scammed and cut their losses and donated everything else to thrift stores, unfortunately.
@mycologyqueer
@mycologyqueer 2 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the person who Alex bought them from might have been the ex seller, idk why the person Alex bought it from would spend like $5 a piece at a thrift store to buy so many of the same skirt.
@LarrietDarling
@LarrietDarling 2 жыл бұрын
@@mycologyqueer Alex bought them from a thrift store (Salvo's). The thrift store likely received the items from a Lula Roe seller who couldn't sell the product and realized they were losing so much of their money, because the vast majority of people who join an MLM lose money.

Just a thought on the cut out tags; I used to work for a clothing store and occasionally when we had a lot of clearance overstock we would donate a bunch of clothes to women's shelters and stuff. Corporate would always make us cut the tags off like that so that people couldn't get them for free and try to resell them or try to return them to the store. Most likely something like that I'd say.

Bonmarche is great! Round by me in the UK it's pronounced like "Bon marsh", typically an older ladies shop, but has cute flowery dresses you might like, also does some pretty youthful trends accept more conservative. I used to work in retail and when clothing got to the absolute end of its lifespan in the store without being bought, and all the sales opportunities had run out, and it absolutely HAD to go, we had two choices - burn it, or cut the tags out and donate to thrift stores. smaller retail stores will just leave the tags to get consumer awareness of their brand, but the big brands don't want people knowing their end of season stuff will end up in a thrift store for $2 instead of the $250 they were charging. others could be different, but salvos specifically do not cut the tags out of anything - that came from the og retailer.

Alex, cutting that skirt was brilliant. Love how u put together the outfit u wore to go out to dinner with Dan & Caitlin. Also, Caitlin turned her skirt from boring work style, to modern and way too cute. It works well with all types of shirt styles.

Kaitlyn is so right! It does have Sims townie vibes. They wear the most random outfits.

Thrift stores have started taking tags off of things because there's people that will go to a thrift store and get something that a poor person would need and then resell it for the terrifying amount of money. I know they do it here in stores in the US because it's hard to find good quality clothes at the thrift store in certain places. Gentrification ♥️

A.n.a (a new approach) is a JcPenny brand (regular mall store in the US). A lot of the stuff seems like it was originally from the US which surprised me..

We the Free is a Free People brand, usually the more basic items like tanks and tees. It’s soft but nearly always see through. Happy to see Caitlyn again. Y’all have such a great friendship.

Funnily enough, I love the vest, makes me think of a Beetlejuice a bit. And I could make a Beetlejuice themed outfit with that.
