Rob is intelligent no doubt. His free market system we know thoroughly exploits the marginalized for big returns to the bone and will continue to do so. In a country like ours where the majority is poor, It will work for the well-off, but the marginalized will definitely be enslaved and intensionally left behind. This men brings solutions for big business, and only big business. South Africa needs to re-imagine itself, and I think the right ideology of the trickle down free economic system; and the leftist communist ideology should not be part of our vocabulary, if we are to build an inclusive economy. This men is definitely no accidental activist, don't let him fool you. A men like him and his family don't get to be where they are without carefully crafting their ideal outcome on any initiative.

@ernestinewatson44448 сағат бұрын
@ at this point the general population should have realised that nobody is coming to help them at all instead they keep on voting for the same ungodly mess. Yes we are trying EFF now MK, we have the DA and other smaller parties but it all about a salary not the people. But it’s more about leaders enriching themselves than about the actual people. BBEEE is a black power movement but only for the elite, our people nothing. We need a free market system and reduced regulations so we can get our economy working. BBEEE must be cancelled in its entirety it’s not working for SA. Our tenders should be productive not zero results and looting. It’s not sustainable at all. ANC has taken loans everywhere that we are paying back in dollars. We are broke. The people who are working are carrying a huge load because the ANC is now meddling in private enterprise and if that collapses we will be a failure of a state. We need sustainable jobs that will increase employment opportunities for all. Our economy is on stalled right now despite the fact most people are working 15 hours a day at home and at work. It’s unhealthy. We are no longer in position to support our helpers the way we used to. It’s diabolical for all. The cost of living is fake, all we need to,do is reduce the taxes on fuel to give everyone a break. Food gauging by supermarkets must stop and fines should be introduced. Pretty sure ANC has invested in these supermarkets. So the ANC actually does not care about black people and currently is sabotaging people who are working. They don’t have the smarts to change direction because it’s lucrative for the ANC Elite. So in my humble opinion we are all fucked unless we get better politicians who care about its people.

This is Rob's best interview yet and you brought it out of him Sizwe, well done. I enjoyed your criticisms of free market economy ideology in the context of an unequal and dysfunctional South Africa economy; and must say that I disagree with pure capitalism being the solution to our problems. The reality of the matter is that as much as we'd love to grow the pie, the South African pie would grow only in the middle, overheat and explode. We are the most unequal country in the world; meaning that we need to get our citizenry participating in the economy first in order to capture the value created by the capitalists. People tend to leave when they get rich in South Africa, money loves to play where there's more money; so we are creating wealth which abandons the economy it was created in instead of circulating and creating more opportunities for others. With that said, kudos to Rob for being patriotic and choosing to remain in South Africa. We can only hope that the Elon Musks, Johann Ruperts and Patrick Soon-Shiongs of the world would do the same. We are an economy that creates capitalists who threaten to jump ship at the slightest inconvenience. And leveling the playing field seems to be the biggest inconvenience of all.

I've subscribed to this channel because of Sizwe Mpofu-Walsh's refreshing unbiased approach to discussing South African politics. What draws me to his content is his independence and willingness to challenge the status quo without being dictated to by any particular political party or ideology. Unlike many other commentators, Sizwe's narrative isn't controlled by Julius Malema and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), which allows for a more nuanced and thoughtful exploration of the complex issues facing South Africa . His commitment to critical thinking and intellectual honesty is evident in his work. Sizwe's unique perspective, rooted in his experiences as a lecturer, author, and activist, offers a much-needed breath of fresh air in the South African political discourse. I'm looking forward to continuing to engage with his thought-provoking content.

Thoroughly enjoyed this episode. We need to grow the economy. The government should keep 51% of SOE's and sell the rest to the private sector. Rob Hersov delivered chest pains to the communists/socialists. May you all heal.

Look at Britain with their privatisation. Look at China, France, Japan, Russia, USA and Scandinavian countries with their State directed economy.

If the government has 51% they will have the controlling power. Therefore nothing different will happen..

Rob is correct. Unfortunately. Market Based Industrialization is the only pragmatic way forward for South Africa.

The low-IQ's and haters tend to crawl out of the woodwork when guys like Rob Hersov are present. They can't stomach success, competence and intelligence.

Zuma didn't want Ceril to succeed him, he also wanted a female (Nkosozana) to become the president of the ANC and we all know how that went. So what Ceril wants is not necessarily what the ANC wants. And the ANC is quickly becoming irrelevant to the people of South African. Soon we won't care who is the president of SA. The left is gaining relevance and the voters are voting left. Take all the votes that we cast in the past election and check where the votes went. People voted left and got a right leaning government. So a weak ANC will result in the Strengthening of the left as things stands.
