The symbolism in this video is remarkable. The battleship stuff for one, but just look around and see what you see. Not that there’s anything wrong with creating music videos with completely random stuff, those are fun; but this seemed really planned and thoughtful…brilliant

I'm not going anywhere You can take window seat And you can keep all my drinks Cus I forfeit I'm not saying anything I'd rather walk to my grave And all the bells you can ring But I forfeit So it goes I'm not doing anything I gave up on winner's faith I gave up on feeling brave And I forfeit So it goes I see forty weeks trying to please for ivory I could see forty weeks trying to please But I'm always coming up short And my temper's too short So it goes Little girl blue, why aren't ya fighting here with me? Well I got fed up with the battle envy and I got fed up with my commanders and chiefs All aboard And I got fed up doing dirty work for cheap. I got fed up trying to stall our winning streaks. I got fed wasting others' money. So I forfeit. Everyone they’re coming up, everyone they want a piece, everyone they're coming up, they wanna see something Everyone they're coming up, everyone they want a piece, everyone they're coming up, they wanna see something All aboard Everybody thinks they can teach Everybody can get pretty mean Everybody thinks they can see The best choice for me Everybody's screaming "wait wait wait!" Nevermind that you're holding a grenade Steer the ship or we're all gonna sink They're gonna make me faint They're gonna make me faint They're gonna paint me weak I wish they’d let me be I guess I'll let them sink. This band would have been a 90s standout. They have perfectly blended their own sound while also showing respect to bands that have inspired them. This video was my introduction to a modern rock band called Skating Polly. It is proof that every generation will have artists, and musicians who will dare to not follow the "safe and easy" way of the current popular culture of their time. As a 49 year old hobbyist musician (bass & guitar), I have lived through they heydays of punk, grunge and garage rock, and many genres before and after. I've watched several other Skating Polly videos before coming back to this one, and to borrow a line from The Who..."the kids are alright!"

This is wild to me. Its 8/13/2020, and i'm 49 years old But this brings me back to the years of 1989-1992 Houston had an array of amazing live music venues, and music flourished This simple little tune brings back so many up and comers that would occasionally reach out and surprise the shit out of us Such a good time, the realization of being alive, stepping away from my childhood and staring into the uncertainty of adulthood, but not caring either I'm Glad i'm no longer that young person, My Life now is beyond expectation But Damn, it's nice to return to a period that I cherished Good Luck Skating Polly, hope you imbed yourself into the next Young Person starting their journey

I relate. Found this by listening to the old 4ad stuff. The 90s alt scene was my favorite genre of music. Now in my 40s I go back and relisten to it. Great song! It's got a throwback feel reminiscent of tunes from the alternative rock golden era of the late 1980s-early 1990s. The fuzz pedal guitars, slow build-up to a raucous chorus, impassioned belting, irony-drenched lyrics, fishnet stockings and Doc Martens have much more in common with the sound and look of bands like The Pixies and even Veruca Salt than that of the average modern indie rock group. Very refreshing and unusual to witness this aesthetic in 2018!

Really like the whole album - the genius of their songwriting is the way they invert expectation - structurally - and then give you melodies that make you care about it. I feel like these guys really connect to the music they listen to because the elements are assembled from everywhere. Many people on here are like "Oh, they're just like blah," but really, they are their own niche. Ugly Pop forever

A song I wish I could wrap myself up in forever. A conversation inside of a song. Love it.

Been having a terrible few months due to being a hypochondriac and being in a family with a long history of seasonal affective disorder as well as rage attacks. Don’t get me wrong, my therapist is amazing but this band has helped me way more than her or anything else

Great song. I am feeling some Breeders and maybe some other 90's bands in this. Great era of alternative music. Good stuff.
