The standing, widely accepted by a handful of people is that the Kiminoans are the ancient ancestors of dolphins that fled the Star Wars galaxy after the destruction of their home planet. The trip was exceedingly rough on them and they began to devolve and crashed into earth where they were fought by Neolithic warriors and pushed back into the sea. There they wait, biding their time, filled with a hatred for humanity.

Modern society is absolutely crazy. We're living in the safest, most peaceful times which have ever existed in human history...yet increasingly kids are expected to have their parents hovering over them 24/7. Kids now have GPS navigation & instantaneous messaging, two of the most useful technologies to have ever been developed--they should be *more* independent, not less, because of this!

"Cop Car" was great. The casting was excellent. The child actors were fantastic. So I'll give the showrunners for knowing how to cast just the right people. I'd assume that it was made on a small budget since a lot of the movie takes place with a car in the middle of nowhere. As long as KK doesn't go all heavy handed in the series like season 3 of Mando, they might be okay.

It's an old writer's rule: Write what you'd want to read. As adults, they can't really know what kids today really like. Whatever they produce in assumption of what kids like, they will be wrong. But if they produce what they like and liked, from the viewpoint of themselves as children, at least it will be what _someone_ truly likes...and they're probably not unique.

@@clarkmichaels822that is real. There's a recent story about a mom who had to run a couple of errands and told her son-- age 10 maybe, to stay home and wait for her to come back to take him on his errand in town. The son decided that it wasn't a big deal if he went into town anyway while she was out. No note. The mom came back, saw he was gone, but figured he would be fine because he's smart and wise enough to handle himself. A woman in town called the police because he was alone in town. Star Wars always had a demographic issue. You approach it seriously? 'It's just for kids, don't take it seriously'. Say it's just for kids? 'It's actually adult and has a lot of depth'. Comfortably sitting on the fence and shooing anyone off that has criticism with either approach. So Skeleton Crew can be doing the same thing. Get some kids in there to appeal to the families, then have the talking heads go 'it's not for kids actually' to draw in the idiot adults that will jerk off over Star Wars until the day they die.

You know, it’s interesting how many of the X’ers (and some Millennials) that have become directors and producers seem to have this 80’s nostalgia. As a member of Gen X, aside from a handful of movies or music videos, I very much disliked the 80’s. For me, it was the 90’s. And I think that some of this has to do with the industry still trying the milk the Boomers, since the broader economy usually skips marketing to Gen X. The 80’s is a compromise.

It sounds like a good and solid project that will go well, in theory. In actual practical execution, still leaning towards no for me. Mostly because even if it does turn out objectively good and really rallies a gathering of people who like it… it still doesn’t do much in my opinion. The entire timeline has been shattered by every show previous to this one. All the breadcrumbs are leading to the sequels. And again, the sequels shattered any potential for a future. They destroyed the new Jedi order, they killed Han, Luke, Leia. Completely broke their characters. Wasted the big bad villain that was Snoke,somehow brought Palpatine back, and self sacrificed the last descendant of the Skywalker’s. Nobody had any kind of character growth or deep and meaningful change. For crying out loud they were literally skipping through and speed running most of the last movie! So forgive me if I don’t take these guy’s word for it. Again, no doubt it will be good, but just not good enough to course correct. In fact I guarantee they shoehorn in some other breadcrumbs to sequels.
@TheChristianPsychopath2 күн бұрын
I think it's good for them to take breaks from the main storyline, but yeah, they need to completely retconn the sequels to really save Star Wars.
