I watched it, I'm 50, with my 12 and 15 year old. They both got bored and the 15 year old picked up his phone throughout, the 12 year old paid closer attention, but she even would pick up her tablet here and their. So, small sample I know, but if this was aimed at kids they missed the mark again. I'm not a huge Star Wars fan but I made sure I watched the first 6 with my kids, in original order, and they genuinely enjoyed them. The only Disney star wars movie we did not see in theaters was The Last Jedi. So, not surprising.

Just watched episode 8. Other than Rogue One and Andor, Skeleton Crew is the first D+ SW show that actually felt like the Star Wars from the 70s and 80s. Yes it was corny, goofy and made for kids but I loved it. Everything D+ has made for SW has been complete trash but this was fun. Truly a homage to the great classics like Goonies and Treasure Planet. I hope they don't do a season 2, there is no need for it. This was a complete and satisfying story.

I canceled my Disney Plus subscription exactly a year ago and have had zero regrets. I'll be renewing for Andor season 2, then I'll be unsubscribing again after that. Maybe I'll check out Skeleton Crew while I'm watching Andor. Disney Plus simply isn't worth it.

I detested The Acolyte, hated Ahsoka, and frankly couldn't give two turds for any "Star Wars" show that Disney has spat out, but I have to be honest, I liked the Skeleton Crew, it had something that has been lost from the franchise for some time, fun. I know it was intended as a kids' show, but to me it brought back memories of movies like The Goonies, The Last Starfighter, Explorers, Flight of the Navigator, all of which embodied a sense of adventure, and even though I'm rapidly approaching my 49th birthday, I still have a soft spot for them. Did the show get high viewing figures? No, not by a long shot, and that's Disney's fault for doing their best to destroy this once beloved universe, but was it a bad show? No, I enjoyed it.

Waited till all the episodes were out. The show's meh. I absolutely hated seeing "Earth" and real world Yarr Harr Pirates in Star Wars. They've bastardized Georges Legacy characters, story, now they're shitting on the Old Republic. The bar is so low for Star Wars, literally ANYTHING can be better than the sequals, BOBF, Acolyte etc and they'll say "It's the best Disney Star Wars" which isn't saying much at all. Can Disney Star Wars just be put out if it's misery. It has suffered for FAR too long. The damage has been done, they can't fix this unless they pull the plug.

I agree. Had Star Wars as a brand been in a better place? I think people would have totally lapped up this show. It is inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, but on its own merits is genuinely a well put together show. Were there issues? Yeah, here and there, but overall I'd give the show a solid 8, easy. Jude Law is great in it, and the kids hold their own too. There is also a genuine sense of fun and wonder to the show, but it is also not afraid to go to dark places, just like the kids shows of the 80's that it is trying to emulate. There'd be moments where you go. Wow, this is a kids show and they went there? Okay. It is definitely worth your time. the first episodes might seem a little slow as they set things up and do a bit of world building, but it soon gets going and becomes a pretty solid and engaging show.

The end didn't feel rushed to me, but it did feel unfinished, mainly due to them not really resolving anything with Jod's arc. They just seemed to forget about him at some point, which was weird. There's no redemption, but he isn't captured and brought to justice either. He just kinda remains in limbo. If they wanted to leave things open for him to return again in another show, they should have just written a climax for him that allows for that. Instead they just did nothing with him after a point, leaving nothing resolved. Very odd. Had it not been for that? I think the series finale would have been a pretty solid conclusion.

Had Disney spent their time until now making super-good content, that build up would have ensured Skeleton Crew would be received fantastically! It would set up a new generation of little fans. So it was set up to be a great springboard, but for a single detail: the preceeding programming was rubbish. The parents were lost long ago by very poor output, so they weren't invested enough to introduce a huge potential audience - their children, to the brand.

Skeleton Crew is what it is but isn't bad. It keeps you interested but it is as random of a story as one can be that's still in the universe. But, the only things in it that are star wars are credits, droids, Jod using the force and eventually getting a lightsaber, and x-wings.

I watched it and liked it. My younger brothers loved it. Reminded us of "Diary of a Wimpy kid." I thought it was pretty based. The kids start off in utopia that's actually a prison - surveillance state. Breaking the rules and encountering danger gives them a taste of freedom. Jod, the greedy backstabbing pirate destroys their matrix supercomputer. Despite almost dying many times, Wim is still reluctant to go home. When they reunite in the end there's an immediate joke about "well you don't have to take the assesment anymore." It's a story safetyism. It shows you the human spirit seeks freedom and adventure no matter how dangerous and chaotic. Also utopia is always authoritarianism, and material goods like credits and a big house don't matter if you can't choose your own path.
