Sketchboard Pro Review: Should You Buy?

Hi I’ve had mine for about a month now and love it , I wouldn’t even consider drawing with out it , so much better for posture , no more back ache and the larger platform makes drawing so much easier , 100% recommend one for anyone who spends a lot of time drawing .

I just got mine a few days ago and already love it! It is big but with a reasonably sized desk it's fine either on top or against it at an angle. Also on the couch. I have some nerve dmg in my arm that has prevented me from drawing for some time now but with this product my arm is supported and now I'm looking forward to getting back into art! Can't imagine going back. Expensive but worth it.

Dang, the second video i watch is of a product, and i *still* *still* learn how to draw better like, i SUPER new to drawing and i just learned that you want to rest your wrist and use your shoulder more and wow just wow amazing..!

I think I would prefer the ability to adjust the incline, one size doesn’t fit all, I would prefer about 1/2 the height so the incline was a bit less. Good review.

I ordered mine in September, was supposed to arrive before Christmas but living in pandemic times affected shipments and so forth. I did finally get it in early January, definitely worth the wait. I love it. I have a 13" Wacom Cintiq but it's not really that portable, which is why I mostly use my iPad now and with the Sketchboard Pro I'm not even sure I will be using the cintiq that much.

Bought one before seeing this review. It's very well made, solid and strong. Find angle just fine. Power cord connection works well. Good platform for drawing on iPad.

I think this is a super great idea and honestly what a lot of artists would want but it's very specific and pretty expensive for what it is. I like supporting smaller folks instead of big companies but that seems too expensive for something with versatility issues (like the cord and no real adjustability in lean height) and mostly inexpensive build materials. I probably wouldn't get it but I'm sure its just what some folks want and they don't mind the price.

If the silicon bit was actually a case with a cover that popped in and out, I’d totally be sold. But $120 +shipping for a board is too steep. Although I’ll admit, they almost had me with the $120, it was the shipping that killed it for me.

The board has been out of the box for about 20 minutes now. First impressions: 1) the improved screen access for couch sketching is worth the price 2) the usb c to usb adaptor. I did not catch that all my new type c cords for the new iPad would not work. So i need long usb3 cords (over 6foot slows data) or a usb3 to female usb c adaptor.

I bought one in November as a Christmas gift for my wife ❤️ and I still haven’t received it. I live in Australia and have had issues with it getting here. I reached out the them and they shipped another one. Let’s see if this one will get to me.

Ordered adaptors and they did not work🙁. Ordering usb3 to usb3. On another note - the sketch board case arrived yesterday. Another bit of a letdown. If I use their case I will need to increase the protective padding. Also the strap does not disconnect. I’m not a fan of the large flop over thingy with the sewn on log. It does have a top zipper all the way across 👍🏻. My case arrived with fraying fabric that had not been sewn correctly, so I might be somewhat bummed in general. Wrote them about the sewing issue and they sent an auto message saying they are very busy and would read my message soon🙄. LOVE THE SKETCH BOARD💔

Update on the sketch board case - they sent me a second case which was sewn much better! No fraying and the stitching is much improved from the original case! Another side note: the cases/bags have a fairly strong odor when when the package is opened. I put the bag/case outside on my deck in the sun and wind and in a couple of days the scent was mostly gone.

Hi. A few questions for you before I contact the company. I just received my Sketchboard today, and while I do like it, I do wish it was seamless like you talked about. When I put my iPad in and press it down, I still have a slight higher edge. But what’s really off, is where the rubber meets the plastic body. The only seamless areas are in the middle of the verticals and horizontals, and that’s probably about 2 inches before it gets very noticeable. By the time it gets to the rounded corners, it’s probably close to the thickness of a nickel difference. While my hand still slides over all these differences, I’m still feeling it also and it’s kind of annoying. My question to you is, how smooth is yours on the seams of the iPad and rubber part, and how smooth is it on the seams of the rubber and plastic frame? Especially on the corners.

Can you show us how to use color palettes? Let's say i want to download a color palette from colorhunt, how do i decide? When i go to that site i just see a bunch of color palettes which make not much sense for me because there is no description or anything...Could you show us how you choose and use a color palette from start to finish? No stock in Europe. And shipping from US is over half the cost again. Makes for a very expensive elite piece of plastic. Guess I’ll play the waiting game and continue using my tilting laptop table.

Yeah I just checked it and it costs 33 dollars for the standard shipping to Europe wtf. The tablet stand plus shipping costs a little less than I paid for Apple Pencil 2. I just ordered a tablet stand from Amazon that costs 27 USD. Hopefully it will serve me well. I know there are options out there and if you really want a good posture you can make it work without getting fancy accessories that's just my opinion though...

Given your vid where the cheaper plastic screen covers were better than the expensive ones i considered this amount also too much, i bet there are other products that do a similar job for less. Youve never seemed like you need this, always been so at home with the ipad as is. Certainly don't need it to produce good art, youve got that sorted already

Sure that case gives you the incline (with different levels)...but at the end of the day, it’s just a case. It doesn’t give you the same results. The whole idea here is that the board extends way past the physical dimensions of the iPad...allowing you to rest your hand outside of the iPad screen itself.

@@BeeJayDeL you’re not wrong, I’d still like to see more options though in terms of adjustment before I put that much money into something I don’t need. It’s a really nice accessory and I trust your comments on its build quality, but I’d rather have the freedom of angles over more room. The height of your desk or drawing surface and even your chairs elevation are more of a factor if you only get 2 or 3 options. Sure maybe there’s more “proper” ways to sit, but I would be really upset if I bought it and while my hand may be more comfortable if the angle isn’t to my liking I’d more than likely not use it as often as I should. If they had jest a few more options I’d have bought one as soon as I finished your video 😭😭😵

Okay, that 3rd-party cable thing is what makes my pump the brakes on buying this. I loathe Apple cables’ lack of durability so I stopped buying them many moons ago. Dang…maybe if I get a 10-ft Apple-branded cable _just_ for use with the Sketchboard Pro..?🤔
