I don't know how I found your channel but besides absolutely loving your art I love your refreshing and encouraging personality. Thank you for reminding me (and I'm sure so many others) how fun art and painting is. I want to go fill up a sketchbook now.

MELISSA - are you serious???!!!! Man alive is that encouraging to hear! This really encourages me because I've been doing this channel seriously for the last year but have such little activity on it so to hear this really motivates me to keep making these videos. ALSO I just got a new camera so the quality will be much better this next year. NOW go fill up that sketchbook!

The recap page with little paintings is genius, so cool! My art mentor taught me to practice recap sometimes, as in going through old sketchbooks and works and look what topics come up again and again. And then I can see if some of these topics are something I want to explore a little more.

Yayyyy new video! Love the editing again on this one--the cuts back and forth between the flat lay and you in the shot kept it way much more interesting than other sketchbook tours! And of course, your paintings and drawings are gorgeous! Such color! The birds reminded me of an idea I had for a bird collage series that I TOTALLY had forgotten about, so thank you hehe. And LOVE the idea of a recap page--if I ever finish a sketchbook I definitely want to try it out! ❤ Good job finishing your sketchbook! 👏👏 On to the next one!

I love this so much. So many wonderful ideas. I’ve watched a lot of artists and your practice I find the most similar to what I want mine to be. I love the variety of mediums and styles you do and I’m so inspired by what you’ve shared. I feel like I’m seeing my art and the possibilities so differently now because of you. That’s a good idea! Sometimes I’m so over a sketch though when I’m done - not sure I’d have it in me to do a tiny version - I get bored easily and need to move on to the next thing. So glad your enjoying the channel 🤗❤️

@@sandihester i've mostly used watercolour in my sketchbook but recently i've started experimenting with gouache and its such a fun new medium to use!

Yes, I'm a BIG fan of gouache! If you like gouache you may want to try the Flashe paint that I mention a lot in my videos - you may really like it! It FABULOUS for sketchbooks and it has the matte flatness of gouache and it's smooth and buttery like gouache.

You should be very proud!!! You're my inspiration because I've just started my 1st official one - also a Stillman & Birn (but the Zeta). Love the idea of creating patterns first & then overlaying figures. Will have to try that (as a newbie, I'm relishing the "copying" phase, lol). And the YTer you're thinking of who does the New York videos is Karen Brit Chick - I watch her too & love the idea of using the city background as inspiration. I loved it when I watched it before but even more so now. It's a lovely large sketchbook too - which brand is it? Is it Stillman & Birn? (I think that's what they're called). Natasha, what a great comment to get - wow! I really appreciate it. I think I have nice paintings/drawings in my sketchbook because I try hard to not think “salable or not” I try hard to just enjoy the process and I use my sketchbooks soooo much to paint from. They are a constant source of inspiration! I think they are like a whole individual piece of art. I have people ask me if I’d sell them all the time and I’m like “not on my life would I sell it!” And Grady’s like “how much are you willing to pay” 😂😂😂. Men! Yes, stillman and birn. Have you tried those? I’m in total love with them!

Mmmmmm i do not know were you you were psychology 1 year ago but these sketches are much more attractive and concized. In other words you dont need a teacher only ideas and ... get out get loosen upp.
