Sketching a Pub in Two Point Perspective | The Holly Bush Inn

In this video I talk about how to draw a building in perspective and demonstrate by creating a fine liner pen and watercolour sketch of the Holly Bush Inn in Derbyshire, UK. This building was drawn with a Uni-Pin Fine Liner Pen in a Moleskine watercolour sketchbook and coloured with Windsor and Newton Professional Watercolours.
This is an adventure in seeing how long a video you want to watch! I did two hours of drawing and painting and have condensed it to just under an hour with commentary on what I'm doing and a little intro where I talk about how to draw a building in two point perspective.
Here's the link to my reference photograph if you'd like to paint along with me:

I ❤️ how you explain perspective! I never had any formal training and people have touched on the subject but don’t explain it for a newbie can understand. 11:55

Thanks ever so much for sharing your wonderful and very easy to understand tutorial on 2 point perspective. Your videos are so well done and very easy to follow along with for the beginner. You are truly an inspiration for those of us who are following our journey in watercolor and ink and wash. Your videos have really helped me to continue in such an easy and relaxing way and I am continuing to learn so much that my confidence is increasing all the time. In short order, I know that I will be able to take my own photos and use the knowledge that I have gained from you and make them into my own works of art. Thank you from this little old lady in New Hampshire!👩‍🦳🖌️

I enjoyed this very much. I also like your style of teaching and your soothing and beautiful Scot (?) accent. I am a Yank but proudly about 75% Scot. I am retired and now have the time to do "me" things and I am working hard to learn watercoloring. I learned so much from you today, especially perspective. Thank you💐

Excellent explanation. Perspective is one of those things that is easy for some and really hard for others.. based off how your brain works. If you are good at math, it's a snap.. it's all logic, rules, ratios, fractions, and lines. If not.. it can be really challenging. Then there are the naturals who can get it right but have no idea why are how, they just transfer what they see that accurately. I find perspective drawing very comforting.. I recall doing a project in school which was supposed to be a single building and wound up with an entire partially destroyed city in a wasteland with poles and lines and roads... it got totally out of hand lol. I got flack for it in class but honestly I just got in a zone and it came out kind of on it's own. If you take away all those lines though.. my painting ability drops significantly because at that point it's all abstract concepts. Those folks who just splash paint on a page and come out with an actual image blow my mind, kudos to them.

Can you have to different horizons? The left horizon looks like it goes to a higher point in the photo. That said, beautiful work! Some of the best styles of structure painting I've seen! Thank you!

Real life is always more complex! I think it might be because this was on a hill, but the horizon line would be straight.
