The only reason Brody Jenner's marriage to Kaitlynn Carter might not have been legally recognized is because they got married in Bali, Indonesia but they're both US citizens and probably didn't do the necessary paperwork with the US government to get it recognized yet. The wedding itself was very serious and must have cost a lot. That's why Brody was so upset about his dad Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner not attending his wedding and none of the Kardashian-Jenners attended either. I bet Brody had depression and self-esteem issues right after that which contributed to his relation with Carter falling apart.
