Skim a cylinder head on the lathe ?

This is how I skim/surface/reface classic mini cylinder heads on my lathe.

Yes good way to surface the head BUT the head should be set up so the cut end in a hole or one of the center chambers, and laying the head down on a metal surface is not good practice.

Scary, that’s a big lump to spin on the lathe. Would it be better to end in the hole just to avoid any centre pip?

Hi yes for the top I bolt through the guide holes, for the face I bolt into the rocker post holes

Sir, On lathe machine is isn't surface concave? Is it perfect as milling or surface grinding.

but milling requires clearance angle on cutter other wise it drags the face, surface grinding can be too smooth and reduce gasket hook up, also if alloy head suuface grinding not applicable
