Great video Stuart, just what I needed, getting closer now to putting my engine back in with the supercharger, still a ways of yet but your timing couldn't have been better, especially around the radiator mods, something I can do now rather than find out later on, thank you. Cheers Marty.

You can use cutting fluid to improve the finish. I didn't lap the valves in after cutting with Neway. The results were good and the engine has been running well for several years and around 60k km. The rings left by the cutter get flattened when the valve closes during use, which gives a good seal. I prefer the tapered guide. Please treat your tools more carefully, any damage can decrease their effectiveness.

What does the decompression plate drop the CR to out of interest ?

It has the same effect as increasing the combustion chamber cc. The % increase in volume at BDC is minimal, but the % increase at TDC is significant, thus reducing the compression ratio.

Hello Stuart, interesting video, many thanks. Is the charge cooler reservoir in this installation an upgrade from the previous reservoir as I see it has the feed and return at the bottom of the reservoir rather than having the return at the top and the metal vented cap? I have the metal reservoir on my car and was wondering whether you've changed/upgraded the specification of the reservoir? Still super pleased with my installation.

Very interesting and informative video, enjoyed that. One thing, how did you decide base settings on the DCOE? Im doing a similar conversion with an M90 on a 2.9 V6. I can find base settings for N/A but nothing for forced. Is it just a case of going 1 or 2 sizes up on everything? Thankyou!

Thanks for confirming that I did in fact fabricate my M45 to rotate in the correct direction mounted on my Z1300-powered 1960s F1 replica project! I was afraid I was going to have to start all over and mount the supercharger on the opposite side of the motor, or use some sort of jackshaft.

Out of curiosity how much extra is it to fit the kit? Also instead of the decompression plate, would a 12g202 be suitable on a 998? From memory im sure theyre 8:1 on a 998. Cheers

Hi, its around 400 to fit the kit , if you have less than 8.5:1 then you wont need the deompression plate

What am I doing ? Well , I'm following a plan: This first video was showing the car as received and getting some base readings of the engines' power. I have a growing shopping list of parts to get the car back on the road safely /legally and some aesthetic ones too. The body work is ok and shell is sound if not particulary pretty, I wont be repainting it and re trimming the seats /interior as they are usable , brakes, tyres, cooling, with loads more cleaning and preserving plus the added supercharger on the standard engine that has covered 36,000 miles is target.

What about running one of these on E85 that should manage running higher compression? Or is E85 hard to find in UK? Ok so fuel consumption will be increased by say 30% which will be fine as one wants more power and adding a supercharger with a Weber 45 on its side isnt exactly economy tuning to start with 🙂

yep its fine as long as the rest of the cars coponents are ok with that , here in the uk older cars are not recomended to use the e85 due to its abillity to cause corrosion through water molecules saturating into it.

I always thought the downstream side of the supercharger was at a higher absolute pressure than the upstream side, but if fuel is to travel down those tubes from the carb flange to the inlet manifold then that can't be true - or maybe I'm not understanding exactly how the fuel is dispersed.

only when the engine is under load . intial accelleration, idle , cruise and decelleration the the pressure differential is in favour of the inlet manifold, if any fuel is not sucked down the pipes when the engine comes onto boost it is then aggitaed by air coming back up the top blowing it into the air being drawn into the 'charger..

Cracking video, i got a second hand 12G202 head, apparently was used on a 1000cc production saloon racer, seems really nice, has the same 33/29 valve sizes as your last head, was going to use this with a Kent 266 cam, didn't plan on rebuilding the engine as it's only done 43000 miles but it's an A+ which i've learned has dished pistons, seller did say head had been skimmed, think i'll need to measure the CC in the pistons and chambers and work out the compression ratio. Will need to get David Vizards book again, it was my bible back in the 90's lol.

@@Vmaxporsch So using an US export low compression engine would be also good...in the past the italians had a Fiat 124 Volumex Roots compressor supercharged spider. It made 135 HP out of 2 Litres DOHC with just 0.75bar pressure, how much pressure does the MGB Kit use and how many HP gain?

Do you think that the flattening of the face of the body of the supercharger can be done without a milling machine? Ie will the sealant forgive any irregularities?

Hi yes the sealant can bridge up to 8mm gaps , the closer you can get it is better but it will still work with no downsides
Does any of these kits fit a left hand drive Mini? Am ok with fitting Mpi LHD brake stuff, but the clutch? Ah, problems are meant to be solved!

I’ve also been told that if the vehicle has a manual transmission, you can put it in the highest gear and push on the car until the next valve opens up as opposed to turning the crank with a breaker bar or ratchet.
