Skoda are good for some of the touches like you mentioned Sinead, however it is also clear where they save money. I had a Skoda Superb Estate. We traveled across France in it fully laden, with a roof box and bike rack etc . . .and at the 130kmph permitted speed limit the interior of the car was deafening. I sold it. I now drive a "similar brand" German Estate car, its far more refined, in several areas, and noticeably quieter. The Skoda owners forum is full of threads about the interior noise in Skoda models

This car has to be assed less versus BMW/Audi/Mercedes and more V the All space & Tarraco. In particular, the Tarraco which is another derivative from VW and is priced similarly
