Great review with lots of useful info about fenders in general. Thank you.

you installed the wrong size fender. B46 is for 37 mm max and the SKS web site has an error.

Really nice video, i didn't get any instructions with it and the installation is not self-explanatory
@TheSweetCyclists7 ай бұрын
Thanks. Installation takes a bit of time as you have to make adjustments and potentially cut some of the struts down - but once you done it once it's a great fender.

Loved your coverage of this bike! Your other video showing its clearance is what made me order a RC500, do you remember if the tires on this video are the sector 28's that you featured on the tubeless conversion? I was wondering how thick of a tire I could get away with while using full fenders
@TheSweetCyclists8 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yes, this is the Hutchinson Sector 28 tires shown in the video. Your tire size is limited by the bike frame. SKS sells a wide variety of fenders that can fit narrow or wide tires once you've chosen your tire size.

@@TheSweetCyclists oops, meant to say that I would be fitting the fenders to another triban rc, I'll pick it up later today and do some tests. Thanks for the response!

The style has a larger clearance which might be a deciding factor.

Thanks for the video. 3. things I cannot get it which not being shown in details or I have missed somehow: 1. do we need to bend the stay on the front wheel? 2. Why those nuts from the supplier could not be penetrated through either lack of thread or blocked by a silicon substance? How did you fit the mudguards without the bolts and nuts in place? 3. How did you measure correctly the length of stay - this is the part I missed from the video? 3. The front fork of my boardman bike is blind and no bolt can be screwed through adding further frustration.

The Bluemel fenders are a bolt-on design, but SKS does have adapters if you don't have proper bolt locations (sks-us.com/collections/eyelets-clamps-required/products/frame-clamps-for-mounting-fenders). You may want to consider SKS's other clamp-on style fenders that can work on. I didn't have to bend the stays, but I did have to cut them. The stay length all depends on your bike geometry - each stay has about 2 inches of adjustment build-in but if your fenders are still too far from your wheels you need to trim them to get them closer.

I bought a set for my Btwin st520. The front I am relocating the bracket as the bike has a reverse arch so the mudguard will be far too close to the ground. I bought rubber line p-clamps to mount the struts to as the bike has not got the mudguard mounts on the forks. The rear has got mounts I can use but need to remove the paint from the threads first.
@TheSweetCyclists Жыл бұрын
The Triban RC 520 had all the mounts we needed to setup the fenders but with adapters hopefully you can get a similar fit on the Btwin version. SKS also has quite a few clip-on style fenders that might work better.
@ro63rto Жыл бұрын
@@TheSweetCyclists I did look at the clip on ones from a lot of manufacturers but settled on this as it matches the bike and they are full length esp the rear as it protects the front derailleur.
@ro63rto Жыл бұрын
Had a little time today so I installed the rear first. The 65 version I have is a very tight fit at the bottom of the seat post. It also contacts the front derailleur but it's really close to the tyre. I'll try an extra 2mm spacer to see if it can move it enough away from the derailleur but not to close to the tyre.
@TheSweetCyclists Жыл бұрын
@@ro63rtoThe bottom attachment point is probably the most restrictive so you may need to use some combination of spacers / bolts to make it work. The "STYLE" version of the Bluemels doesn't have the cutout which would make installation easier. Hopefully you can it to work - worst case you could trim the fender.

Good review! Do bluemels style 46mm, will fit mi bike with the tire size 40mm... Is it wide enough to do the job of fenders at all????
@TheSweetCyclists6 ай бұрын
According to the specs, the 46mm fenders are compatible with 28-40 mm tires so you should be protected.

I still don’t understand what width version you have. SKS offers 46, 56, 65 and 75. You have 37 in the description. There is no such version. So what version do you have?
@TheSweetCyclists Жыл бұрын
The version shown here is the Bluemel STYLE 700c/650B and fits 700c x 28-37 (style 11832). It's listed here - sks-us.com/collections/fenders/products/bluemels-style-bicycle-fender-set-700c-650b-wheels. SKS offers a confusing number of fender variations, they have everything from kids bike to fat tire bike fender sizes.
@sajnbajnauu4650 Жыл бұрын
@@TheSweetCyclists Yes, I understand, this is the 46 mm version (on the official German SKS website). According to your link the name Size: B46 700 x 28-37. B46 is the size in millimeters. Thank you for the answer.

Can you mount the style version front fender when you only have eyelets on the inside of the carbon fork, roughly at the half height of the fork?
@TheSweetCyclists Жыл бұрын
I don't think that would work well with the Style fender. If you are missing the axle eyelets you can get SKS's various clip-on fenders that also work well.

That front fender looks waaaaay too low still even with the bracket flipped.
@TheSweetCyclists Жыл бұрын
You can adjust the struts for more distance from the tires. With what is shown I haven't had any rubbing issues, but I don't ride in mud or dirt often.

I have this fender fitted on my Specialized Diverge. The front fender bracket can only be mounted on the rear of the fork as the bike does not have through eyelet. I had to remove the flexi plastic end trim so that the it doesn't scrapped uneven ground. Overall I'm happy with the look.
@ro63rto Жыл бұрын
@@bunditriyasan487 I have a reverse arch with no through hole so it's even worse but I've removed the bracket, made a template of the slot and fixing holes on a piece of white painters tape so that I could relocate it slightly further back thus lifting the flap to a more usable level.
