In case you didn't know Arverno, Spanish Inquisition is basically the removal of Jews/Muslims from Spain after the reconquista. Queen Isabella expelled them from the country or forced them to convert. There were also those who were allowed to redeem themselves by becoming conquistadors for the New World.

Started a game with her on the other end of the continent. She ran down brazil and after a brief struggle moved down atilla! I was being as friendly as i could and only asked her not to settle near me. After a couple of rounds, she came knocking on my door, luckily i was somewhat armed due to my struggles with atilla earlier. Last i saved she was on her side of the border staring at my wall of pikes in forts with bowmen behind them. mountains in the west, ocean on the east. im in a corner of the continent with only 3 cities and my pal the dutch on the other side of the mountain we are all that stands in this madwomans way! she have declared me war 3 times and have never come more than two hexagons into my land. her warmongering have left her with 7 cities spanning half the shared continent. Im planning on a culture victory, so only time will tell if if can hold my ground.

Wam power Sadly her military science gained her artillery and war bombers, my defense grid fell as it was pounded. And it failed within 10 rounds, as her normal infantry was superior to what i had. It was crushing for morale to see the war bombers slowly lift off from her nearby city and fly over my troops to drop their payload, they kept comming, and as her superior war machine churned out troops and machines faster than i could with my 3 towns. I had hoped to hold the line till i could make biplanes and even the playing field. But taking my capital was not enough for her, and my two towns were next, i surrendered to the inevitabel.

Usually Isabella is a bitch in my games, but in my latest game with a Scientific Poland, she was my best ally. She was reasonable, understanding and even stopped sending her religion when I asked her to stop. Even at the end where the world declared war on me, she was completely neutral and did nothing. I guess I will never see this again, but it was finally nice not to hear this theme when she is on my game.

On a good day, Isabella will remain your ally as long as you have a better military. As soon as you don't, no matter how friendly she is towards you, she's going to declare war. I remember her being friendly as a scientific Babylon. I'd had to fight off a defensive war against Carthage's surprise attack, and then Spain launched a surprise attack a little afterward despite being friendly the whole time. I ragequit, loaded a save from a few turns earlier, and prepared my armies. Still was one hell of a war, but I was at least able to stop her swaming my cities.

To be fair, the game has her leading her country up to the invention of giant armored robots. Historical accuracy isn't really Civ's intent. It was more on how different Civilizations interact with the world and with other Civs. So, it's sociologically accurate to an extent.

Castile (Castilla in spanish) was a medieval kingdom in the north of the iberian peninsula. Spain was created when the iberian kingdom of Castile became the main possesion of the Habsburgs (a powerful german dynasty who ruled the Holy Roman Empire in the XV century) and with that power took control or conquered the other states in the peninsula, as Portugal, Aragon, Leon, Catalonia, Valencia, Granada or Navarra. Spain comes from Hispania, the roman name of the iberian peninsula.

Spain is not created as you say, Spain is the idea that the Christian kingdoms try to recover, Castile did not conquer the other Christian kingdoms, there was a unification in between castile and aragon to recover the lost Spain of the Visigoths.
